Rule 259 - vomiting and diarrhoea en route to track. Dog presented. Stand down 5 days to 5.10.03. VC held.
Race 2 SUDSARELLA LAUNDRY STAKES - C0 - 527 Lickem Luke went to the rail to lead quickly, despite contact on jumping with Astro View, and did not relinquish lead from that point. Just Hasty was in shoulder to shoulder contact with Mana Watt when the field tightened at the first bend - Just Hasty went wide then when entering the straight drove strongly towards the line for second, making inroads on the leader's margin at the end.
Race 3 MEADOWSET GRAPHICS STAKES - C1 - 527 Dorothy Bale was the early leader until Clockstopper crossed over at the top of the back straight and held well from there. Ewan Jake ran on at the finish for second placing. The favourite, Go Wild Chrissy, from the inside draw, started on terms with the field and took up a rails position until the first bend where she was headed by Ewan Jake - she veered wide and into the path of Spade Time - Spade Time climbed over the top of her and Go Wild Chrissy was out of contention when forced down on the track.
Race 4 OASIS BAR & GRILL DASH - C2 - 318 Lady Bold, who was back early and tailed off, was found to have been injured during the running of the race when examined post race by the veterinary surgeon. Marshall Bale and Miss Vegi Web in a frantic dispute for the lead for the race, with Miss Vegie Web in control at the line. No 4 Gold Pot (MH Knight). Rule 259 - injured hind leg. Race 5 BELLBIRD ARMS STAKES - C1 - 527 The favourite Idol Appeal was a little slow at the jump, but had recovered to midfield at the first bend where BigBad Ben crossed forcibly from the outer and caused the field to tighten, with Eagle Farm in particular being jostled, and after which several dogs moved wide. With the rail opened up, Idol Appeal went strongly through and on for a decisive win. Eagle Farm recovered well for third.
Race 6 STREETS ICECREAM STAKES - C2 - 527 Race clear.
Race 7 VALLEY POOL DASH - C2 - 318 Pat's Legacy took the field through the early stages and had little challenge to reach the line first. Hot Discovery and Benalla Prince ran with shoulder to shoulder contact after the jump, and then when Hot Discovery moved wider, Benalla Prince was squeezed for racing room for several strides. No 5 Bahama Bale (GN Pomeroy).Rule 259 - left front triceps and wrist soreness. Stand down 10 days to 08.10.03. VC held.
Race 8 RADIO PACIFIC STAKES - C3 - 527 Waitak Central was turned sideways and had to scramble momentarily when squeezed for room after the jump as the dogs on either side of her came together. This incident restricted her chances. Paddy Power turned on the speed early and carried a five length margin to the line.
Race 9 PUKEKOHE HOTEL DASH - C3/4 - 318 Onslow Bale, sustaining an early lead from Rawhiti Lad and the favourite Zosha on his outer, held to the line decisively.
Race 10 HEADIN HOME BAR & GRILL STAKES - C4/5 - 527 There was a spectacular multiple fall at the first bend, as Some Joe slammed across from the outer towards the rail and in unison, Campbell Bale moved off the rail and into contact with Almost A Dancer - both those dogs tangling and hitting the track heavily - with Some Joe then piling over the top and in turn Taiho Tiger, from the outside draw and running out wide, crashing into the melee and with Some Joe, cartwheeling towards the outside fence. All dogs stood and in turn finished the race, but both Campbell Bale and Taiho Tiger were found to have been injured in a post race veterinary examination, with Taiho Tiger particularly so.
