Race 1 MAIDEN SPRINT - HEAT 1 - C0q - 295 Heat 1 MULBERRY ACE was scratched due to swelling in the left ribcage. HOMEBUSH MARY and DISSIPATE were both checked on the first corner, dropped back to the rear and could not make up the lost ground. The favourite NESSIE'S CHARM was bumped several times by KOTUKU ARANUI in the run around the bend and this ruined its chance of a placing. MULBERRY ACE. Trainer K.Cassidy. Rule 259. Race 2 MAIDEN SPRINT - HEAT 2 - C0q - 295 Heat 1 BRAVE GYPSY was slow to begin and lost all chance of a placing. HUKA JAZZ and SUPREME PARAGON bumped together several times when rounding the bend and lost momentum as a result.
Race 3 MAIDEN STAKES - HEAT 1 - C0q - 525 Heat 1 MULBERRY BEAN was scratched due to tenderness in the left hind tibia. TINKAMORE was slow away and tailed the field throughout to finish in last place. Race 4 MAIDEN STAKES - HEAT 2 - C0q - 525 Heat 1 UNO THE TIME was scratched due to slight swelling in a gracilus muscle. The hot favourite THRILLING SAM was a little slow away but was quickly into stride and burst through on the rail on the first corner and ran away for an easy victory. UNO THE TIME. Trainer S.Gommans. Rule 259. Suffering from slight swelling in a gracilus muscle. Presented and stood down for 5 days to 03.10.03.
Race 5 IMPROVERS SPRINT - HEAT 1 - C1q - 295 Heat 1 TAR'S GOLD jumped on terms with the field but pulled up before the first corner as the outside runners moved across and eventually finished some distance behind the other runners. The vets inspection could not reveal any abnormalities and a charge of failing to pursue was laid. The Trainer elected to admit a breach of Rule 322 (1) (b) had occurred and a stand down of 30 days was ordered with the dog to trial before its next start. TAR'S GOLD. Trainer S.Gardner. Race 6 IMPROVERS STAKES - HEAT 1 - C1q - 525 Heat 1 SHAY LAMOUR was scratched due to a seasonal complaint. FUNNY FEELING was checked on the first corner when SEASPRAY BEST moved across to the rail. FUNNY FEELING dropped back quickly onto UPAHUT AXION who suffered a severe check and lost several lenghts. He then recovered well to run on for fourth placing. SHAY LAMOUR. Trainer B.Marsh. Race 7 IMPROVERS SPRINT - HEAT 2 - C1q - 295 Heat 1 ENROLLMENT moved in soon after the start and caused tightening to several runners with STRATHBURN LAD, BOLD GYPSY and EMOYENI dropping out to the rear. GO MOJO was in the leading group approaching the home turn but was then checked and almost fell. He dropped out to finish in last place. BALLYSHANNON was also checked in the incident and lost several lenghts.
Race 8 IMPROVERS SPRINT - HEAT 3 - C1q - 295 Heat 1 INKYMORE was scratched due to a tendon injury in the left forelimb. The favourite GAZZA'S DELIGHT was the slowest away and then became awkwardly placed around the bend and finished well back. INKYMORE. Trainer I.Moore. Rule 259. Ruptured tendon in left forelimb. Stand down 10 days to 08.10.03.
Race 9 IMPROVERS STAKES - HEAT 2 - C1q - 525 Heat 1 MISTER ZINGER, SHAKA MALAWI and WINSOME SHINE were all slow to begin and settled well back. One of the favourites ILLEGITIMATE was handy starting the last bend but was then checked and dropped out to finish in last place.
Race 10 IMPROVERS SPRINT - HEAT 4 - C1q - 295 Heat 1 KAITOKE PRINCE was scratched due to slight pain in a hind leg. One of the favourites JO JO SAM ran onto the heels of FROSTIVAN starting on the bend and lost momentum. He then recovered to run on for third. KAITOKE PRINCE. Trainer P.Nicholls. Rule 259. Pain in left hind leg. Presented and stood down for 5 days to 02.10.03.
Race 11 IMPROVERS STAKES - HEAT 3 - C1q - 525 Heat 1 SEASPRAY KNIGHT was scratched due to muscle soreness in the right thigh. LIKA CRUISE was scratched due to suffering from gastro-enteritis. Race was clear. SEASPRAY KNIGHT. Trainer K.Cassidy. Rule 259. Muscle soreness in right thigh. 10 day stand down to 06.10.03. LIKA CRUISE. Trainer T.McGillivray. Race 12 IMPROVERS STAKES - HEAT 4 - C1q - 525 Heat 1 SPORTY MATE was scratched due to a tendon injury in the right foreleg. The favourite CLYDEBANK was the slowest away and settled well back with SOFA LOAFER and SHAVE THE SHEEP who were also slow to begin. CLYDEBANK gradually made up ground and finished on well for second placing. SPORTY MATE. Trainer J.Hill. Rule 259. Suffering from a strained tendon on the right forelimb. 10 day stand down to 08.10.03.
Race 13 BRYCE FRANCIS GRAPHICS - C2 - 295 INSIST, HEY QUINCY and ASTRO'S DIAMOND were slow to begin and lost ground. STYLISH SUSIE was tightened between KAITOKE SUE and SAVIOLA on the first corner and was shuffled back to near the rear. KAITOKE SUE dropped back several places soon after and they both lost any chance of a placing.
Race 14 TXT4TIPS (M9 R? 8477) - C2 - 525 WON'T BE DENIED and CIVIC KNIGHT collided and lost several lenghts when entering the back straight. WON'T BE DENIED recovered to finish on for fifth place but CIVIC KNIGHT tailed the field home by several lenghts. The vets examination revealed some pain in a gracilus muscle and a five day spell was ordered. CIVIC KNIGHT. Trainer D.Garrett. Rule 329 . Suffered from a slight gracilus muscle injury. Stood down for 5 days to 04.10.03.
Race 15 EMPIRE HOTEL - PETONE - C3/4 - 525 BLUE HIKER eased back on the first corner as outside runners moved across to the rail and as a result she went back to last and stayed there. WINSOME RAIDER and MY TOOT TOOT were pushed out on the first corner and then ran wide on the bend.
Race 16 CLASSIC ROOFING DASH - C3/4 - 295 ALLEGRO MAGIC was scratched due to a minor track leg injury. YALLAH ROSE came across at the start and checked TREZEGUET, ULTRA AWESOME and PACIFIC JAZZY who all lost ground. PACIFIC JAZZY recovered quickly to loop the field out wide and win with ease.
