Race 1 | BELLBIRD ARMS DASH - C1 - 318 | Mavriki Enya was the leader following the jump until Miss Vegi Web took and held control to the line. Mavriki Enya moved out entering the straight and touched and slightly impeded Storm Edition, that dog at that time making ground strongly - kept momentum and finished running on for second placing. No 3 Wee Silver Star (B & L Craik). Under 10 day stand down from Wanganui meeting on 23.09.03. |
Race 2 | PUKEKOHE HOTEL STAKES - C1 - 527 | Mean Tyler sped from the boxes to put an early break of 2-3 lengths on the field into the first bend, kept margin down the back and home straights and held off the fast finishing favourite, Idol Appeal, at the line. |
Race 3 | AUCKLAND SPRING CHAMPIONSHIP HURDLES - C2hf - 527 | Hurdles, Spring Championship. Makexpress in front of the favourite, Gone Troppo, after field took first hurdle before Gone Troppo surged forward on the inner to take over the lead role. Our Patch dipped on his nose after the second hurdle - dropped to the rear and out of the race. Gone Troppo flew over the third hurdle only to land on his nose and somersalt end over end and be out of contention. Chippewa Brave jumped well throughout and held well at the line. A post race veterinary examination cleared Gone Troppo of injury. All finished. |
Race 4 | THE MAD BUTCHER DASH - C2 - 318 | Cardinia Kev conceded several lengths when slow at the start - recovered quickly to midfield but no further from there. Bold Playboy was rapidly to the front and although Hot Discovery on the inner disputed the pace early, held on well to the line. |
Race 5 | MEADOWSET GRAPHICS STAKES - C1 - 527 | Bitter Sammy was the pacemaker from the early stages to just short of the finish line, where he was denied by Our Madge - that dog having trailed third into the home straight before driving strongly between the two leaders to take the race in the last strides. There was early interference when Cawbourne Smile came off the rail at the first bend and came into contact with Claire Eyes, that dog in turn going out onto Ewan Jake, who veered wide and finished back. |
Race 6 | RACK 'N' ROLL VALLEY POOL STAKES - C2 - 527 | Johhny Ray was quickly to the front and took field through first bend and down back straight until Galatasaray took over and held decisively to the line. Allover Now was slow to start and finished towards the back.Miss Jade was positioned handy to lead in the early running then moved out and checked off the back of Kaiser Izmir, causing that dog to scramble for several paces to regain momentum. Miss Jade continued to move out and came into the path of Luminoso who had earlier veered wide. |
Race 7 | BOB VAN MEEUWEN SPRINT - C2 - 318 | Arnies First sped clear after the jump and held a margin in excess of six lengths at the line. Lady Dolly crossed from box 8 heading into the bend, trailing third until she moved out and came into contact with the favourite, Cawbourne Jack, then improving through the field after dwelling slightly at the start. Bahama Bale was handy to the lead early - then when Cawbourne Jack was checked in front of him, went back through the field into the path of Dataman, that dog trailing the field after a slow start. In seeking to avoid Bahama Bale, Dataman had to climb sideways over back his back - Bahma Bale's hind legs splaying on the track at the impact. Cawbourne Jack recovered well for second placing. |
Race 8 | RADIO PACIFIC STAKES - C2/3 - 527 | Longest Drive showed speed after the jump, in front until Trendy Rhode, having flared wide from third on the rail, returned to the rail and moved forward to take and control the lead to the line. |
Race 9 | CARTERING PROFESSIONALS DASH - C4/5 - 318 | Joy To Frank dipped and scrambled on jumping and was thus out of contention - trailing the field to the finish.Tempest Hove from the 8 box gained the lead entering the bend, checking Dual Code, then second, as he crossed. Dual Code was forced to rear up slightly to avoid Tempest Hove and went quickly to the back from that point. Gold Amore took early control mid-straight and held. |
Race 10 | EGH INTERNET GREYHOUNDS STAKES - C4 - 527 | Sunset Jest from the inside draw established an early lead and with a sustained run held to the line. Wyuna Red Leg was blocked for racing room in the initial stages and did not really participate any further. No 4 Uptown Dance (W Steele).Rule 259 - superficial wound to right hind leg with quadrups bruising.Dog presented. Stand down 10 days to 6.10.03. VC held. |
