Judicial report: Weather: Warm Windy clear conditions. The inquiry opened on Wednesday 16 September 2003 into the scratching of CIVET (JT McInerney) was reopened, it being established that CIVET was now deceased, with no further action required.

Race 1 PEDIGREE ADVANCE SPRINT - C2 - 295 OZZY JOHN and TRINITY CHASE were slow to jump from the boxes. Into the first corner TRINITY CHASE improved along the rail, tightening OZZY JOHN, LIGHT FROST and MAY BE WELL. These dogs never recovered finishing at the rear of the field. MY PERK (JV Busch) right gracillus pain. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule: 259. 10 days up to and including 24 September 2003. HOMEBUSH DEEJAY (LS Kaye) was a late scratching at kennelling when found to be 1.6kgs under its last race start. Rule: 269 (3). Trainer Kaye fined $100.00.
Race 2 WINNING EDGE STAKES - C2 - 520 AQUA GOOFY was slow to jump from the outside box. Into the first corner KNOCKABOUT NOVA checked out off SATIN GRIPS hindquarters, running wide and taking SOVEREIGH REWARD with her. These two dogs finished at the rear of the field.
Race 3 ROCKCOTE SPRINT - C3 - 295 HERE GOES was slow to jump from Box 1. Into the first corner CYPRESS LAKES eased coming back on HERE GOES, PAGING and HOMEBUSH LAD. Soon after this incident HOSTILE HONCHO who was leading was struck from behind by DR MURDOCH and fell. HOMEBUSH STEVE and CYPRESS LAKES were badly checked. DR MURDOCH ran onto win easily, the other dogs finishing well back. HOSTILE HONCHO was checked by the Club Veterinarian, he detecting no injuries.
Race 4 ABRAHAMS FAMILY RESTAURANT DISTANCE - C1/2d - 732 TERRIFIC TEDDY checked out off GROOVY JEWELS hindquarters into the first corner, running wide and taking ANXIOUS MOMENTS with him. They both ran on to finish midfield.
Race 5 SOUTHERN TRUST STAKES - C2 - 520 The favourite TOKEN ECHO dwelt slightly at the start, settling last. Into the first corner he caught the field, before checking out off AQUA COSTI'S hindquarters, running wide around the bend. He finished sixth.
Race 6 COASTERS TAVERN STAKES - C4 - 520 This race was re scheduled to start at 8:08pm due to a delay in the previous harness race. HONEST BIRD was slow to jump from the outside box. Into the first corner SNOWBIRD checked out off the hindquarters of an improving HONEST BIRD, running wide on the track and taking TURBO WARRIOR with her. They finished mid field, with HONEST BIRD finished strongly for third.
Race 7 CHRISTCHURCH SISTER CITY FINAL - C5 - 520 GEOFFREY CRAYON ran wide into the first corner, taking CHANTILLY BALE wide. GEOFFREY CRAYON ran on well with CHANTILLY BALE finishing near the rear. HEADMOVER who led early, drifted through the field across the top impeding both EYGPTIAN GOLD and WHISKY PETE . These two dogs ran on in the straight with HEADMOVER finishing last.
Race 8 WILSONS SPORTS BAR STAKES - C5 - 520 Into the first corner the favourite MARSHA BALE, KERCHAK and BACK EAR JACK came together, losing ground. They came together again entering the back straight, BACK EAR JACK running out and colliding with WHITE TOKEN. These dogs lost all chance, filling the last four places.
Race 9 THE MILLER BAR & CAFE SPRINT - C5 - 295 SHEEZA FREE ran out into the first corner, tightening BRADANCAS, who lost all chance, finishing last. SHEEZA FREE ran on for fifth.
Race 10 CANTERBURY DRAUGHT SIX PACK - C2/3 - 520 The favourite OLD HOPELESS was squeezed as a result of general tightening entering the first corner, losing momentum and settling well back. He ran on strongly in the straight for fourth. JAY GEE'S BOY (JV Busch) torn tendon left wrist. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule: 259. 14 days up to and including 28 September 2003.
