Judicial report: Weather: Overcast and cool (An inquiry into the scratching of CIVET (JT McInerney) from Race 14 under Rules: 256 and 257 was opened and adjourned pending receipt of a veterinary certificate. That inquiry was adjourned to be reconvened at a later date.

Race 1 PEDIGREE ADVANCE SPRINT - C0 - 295 SYDNEY'S LENGEND came up with the lids, losing all chance, finishing last. Into the first corner LIFE'S A GAS ran outwards, checking HOMEBUSH FRANK, BEST HAND and RED'S MISTAKE racing on his outer. These dogs never recovered, finishing towards the rear of the field. MATERIAL GIRL (KP Lawrence) temperature and treated with antibiotics. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule: 259. 10 days up to and including 21 September 2003.
Race 2 COASTERS TAVERN STAKES - C1 - 520 HOMEBUSH BILL was slow to jump from the outside box, settling last however improved around the first corner before coming in contact with PAREORA PEARL for a number of strides, drifting out over the concluding stages to finish last. PAREORA PEARL ran on for a distant fifth. FLY BY ANGEL (JV Busch) right groin sprain. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule: 259. 10 days up to and including 24 September 2003.
Race 3 GARRARDS HORSE AND HOUND STAKES - C0 - 520 Into the back straight SEPTEMBER STORM checked out off the hindquarters of HOMEBUSH SALLY, coming in contact with AUTUMN ANT on his outer. These three dogs settled at the rear of the field, never improving during the running. DUTCHESS FERN (GA Cleeve) right hind nail lost. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Race 4 FARRINGTON TAVERN SPRINT - C0 - 295 Entering the first corner the favourite HOMEBUSH ROSE was tightened between dogs, coming back on PETITE JEWEL, MULBERRY ROLL and HOMEBUSH JESS, all four dogs losing all chance. MOLLY D'LOON (R & C Free) kennel cough. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule: 259. 10 days up to and including 24 September 2003. RED'S MISTAKE (MJ Flipp) starter in Race 1.
Race 5 BOWL AND JACK STAKES - C1 - 520 ZOTON PARK ran wide around the first corner and into the back straight, never improving during the running finishing last.
Race 6 ANGLERS ARMS SPRINT - C1 - 295 JEMALONG BAILEY was slow to jump from the boxes, settling last, never improving during the running.
Race 7 ROCKCOTE STAKES - C1 - 520 All clear.
Race 8 KOLORFUL KANVAS STAKES - C0 - 520 The favourite NEAVIS ALONE ran wide around the first corner, taking CECILIA LUGER wide with her. She again ran wide around the top bend into the home straight, finishing on fairly for fourth. CECILIA LUGER ran on well for second, some distance from the leader and eventual winner QUIET SPIRIT. BULLER HAVOC drifted to last entering the first corner, finishing the event some distance behind the body of the field. He was checked by the Club Veterinarian who detected nothing amiss. WEAR THE FERN (GA Cleeve) stood down at Otago GRC meeting on 12 September 2003 under Rule: 322 (1) (b). One month up to and including 11 October 2003.
Race 9 ISLINGTON TAVERN SPRINT - C1 - 295 The second favourite BLUE BRANDELLE was slow to jump from Box 1, settling well back finishing seventh. Into the first corner IMPOSTER struck the running rail, losing momentum, finishing last. He was checked by the Club Veterinarian who found his left hind outside sesamoid to be swollen, recommending a stand down period of 10 days. Soon after this incident KEV THE ALIEN was tightened between dogs losing momentum, finishing sixth. IMPOSTER (BC Dann) Rule: 329. 10 days up to and including 25 September 2003.
Race 10 SHIRLEY VETERINARY CENTRE STAKES - C1 - 520 The favourite THOMASON was slow to jump from the inside box, settling last. When endeavouring to improve into the back straight, he was crossed by TERRIFIC TEDDY sustaining a severe check. He settled near the rear of the field and drifted out in the home straight to finish a clear last. He was checked by the Club Veterinarian who detected nothing amiss, however Trainer AC Roberts advised that the dog would be turned out for a spell. POLLY ABACUS (M & J Jopson) left dew claw torn off. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule: 259. 10 days up to and including 24 September 2003.
Race 11 BARRONS SUPPLIES SPRINT - C1 - 295 BRANDELLE ANGEL and TOP NOTCH CONNIE were checked when tightened between dogs into the first corner, losing all chance, filling the last two places. MITCHAM BALE (AC Roberts) deceased. JET JUNCTION (M & J Jopson) left hind pad cut. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule: 259. 10 days up to and including 24 September 2003. CHAUSSER (D Kingston) left fore toe sprain. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule: 259. 10 days up to and including 24 September 2003.
Race 12 HALSWELL TAVERN STAKES - C1 - 520 CALL ME JOSIE and WINSOME BOTHER lost ground as a result of general tightening at the end of the back straight, these dogs filling the last two places. The favourite TOKEN ECHO drove to the lead into the first corner, leading all the way to win the event impressively.
Race 13 TEMPS BAR STAKES - C0 - 520 Into the first corner HONEY'S MEMORY struck HOMEBUISH JASON'S hindquarters, HONEY'S MEMORY checking outwards forcing ICE FERN to run wide. These dogs settled at the rear of the field, never improving during the running.
Race 14 SUPERPETS STAKES - C0 - 520 Soon after jumping from the boxes the favourite TULONGA LOAFER ran outwards, checking WAVE THE FERN who settled last. Into the first corner JUMP START checked out off TOP BRASS'S hindquarters, forcing the second favourite and eventual winner SPOT THE LOT wide on the track. TOP BRASS then moved down towards the rail, tightening HOMEBUSH SID for a number of strides, that dog losing momentum. He finished strongly in the straight for fourth with JUMP START finishing amongst the tail enders. CIVET (JT McInerney) veterinary certificate yet to be supplied.
Race 15 APACHE LODGE SPRINT - C1 - 295 The favourite MARRICK MAID dwelt slightly at the start when jumping from Box 1, however recovered along the rail into the first corner easing slightly when crossed by the eventual winner THELMA BALE. APHRODITE QUEEN (M Bunny) was a late scratching at kennelling when found to be in season. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule: 258. 30 days up to and including 15 October 2003.
Race 16 FLAIR SPRINT - C1 - 295 UP A NOTCH was slow to jump from the boxes, settling last never improving during the running. Into the first corner the favourite BLONDE FEVER and TRAVELLIN' JACK were squeezed as a result of general tightening, finishing amongst the tail enders. IVORY DELUXE (WM Tijsen) was a late scratching at kennelling when found to be in season. Rule: 258. 30 days up to and including 15 October 2003.
