Race 2 | BACKLASH SPRINT - C1 - 295 | BLUE AQUILA was slow to jump from the boxes, settling last never improving in the running. Into the first corner TOP NOTCH CONNIE was tightened by DR COSMO on her outer, losing momentum as a result finishing second to last with DR COSMO running on for fourth. |
Race 3 | RAPID VITE NEW ZEALAND HT 1 - C0q - 520 Heat 1 | Entering the first corner TOP CURRENT and HOMEBUSH BRIAN tangled, with TOP CURRENT hitting the rail, both dogs losing all chance finishing at the rear of the field. Soon after this incident EBONY DELUXE and VILLAGE QUEEN came together for a number of strides, losing ground. They finished fifth and sixth respectively. POLAR KEV the favourite who raced mid field, finished strongly in the straight to win the event well. TOP CURRENT was examined following the event by the Club Veterinarian, who detected no injuries. WAVE THE FERN (GA Cleeve) right carpus infection. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule: 259. 10 days up to and including 30 August 2003. |
Race 4 | BARK MAN BARK STAKES - C1 - 520 | SNAZZY SHAZ was squeezed between dogs entering the first corner, settling well back and never improving during the running finishing amongst the tail enders. Into the back straight ISABELLA ROSE was tightened by an improving ROSE CEE CEE, who ran on for third with ISABELLA ROSE finishing last. MERELY A TOKEN (NB Thackwell) deceased. |
Race 5 | CONTAINERS DIRECT INTERTRADE SPRINT - C0 - 295 | MATERIAL GIRL drifted to last soon after jumping from the boxes. Into the first corner DR ADONIS and HOMEBUSH TROY were checked when tightened between dogs. Soon after this incident an improving MATERIAL GIRL and ELIZA DANE came together, both dogs losing momentum. They, along with DR ADONIS and HOMEBUSH TROY, filled the last four places. |
Race 6 | RAPID VITE NEW ZEALAND HT 2 - C0q - 520 Heat 1 | SYDNEY'S LEGEND and LIFE'S A GAS dwelt at the start, settling last. They never improved during the running, finishing amongst the tail enders. BOMBER BELLE came in contact with SEPTEMBER STORM entering the back straight, running wide as a result and finishing last. LUMOS OBLIVIATE (J & D Fahey) was a late scratching at kennelling when found to be 2kg over its last race start. Rule: 269 (3). Trainers Fahey fined $100.00. |
Race 7 | GENUINE HONEY STAKES - C1 - 520 | IMPOSTER drifted soon after jumping from the boxes, however improved into the first corner settling mid field before drifting out over the concluding stages to finish a distant last. He was checked by the Club Veterinarian who detected nothing amiss, however trainer BC Dann advised that the dog showed signs of cramping when caught at the lure. No stand down period was required. |
Race 8 | SHIRLEY VETERINARY CENTRE - C1 - 295 | Into the first corner BLOND FEVER, BRANDELLE ANGEL and GOURMET were squeezed as a result of general tightening, losing ground never recovering from the incident and filling the last three places. |
Race 9 | SCHULTZ PANEL & PAINT STAKES - C1 - 520 | Into the first corner CAMBODIA GIRL and WINSOME FEVER were checked as a result of general tightening, coming back on a trailing CURION and HOMEBUSH BILL. CURION ran on strongly over the concluding stages for fourth, with the other dogs filling the last three places. |
Race 10 | RAPID VITE NEW ZEALAND HT 3 - C0q - 520 Heat 1 | WEAR THE FERN and BLUE FERN were slow to jump from the boxes, settling well back. Entering the back straight an improving WEAR THE FERN struck the hindquarters of QUIET SPIRIT, both dogs losing momentum. At the end of the back straight WEAR THE FERN and QUIET SPIRIT came together, WEAR THE FERN losing momentum as a result finishing last. QUIET SPIRIT ran on for a distant fifth. BLUE FERN after her slow start, came in contact with NEAVIS ALONE around the first corner, however finished strongly in the home straight for second. BANKSIDE NIGHT (Adcock/Hopping) left hind webbing torn. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule: 259. 10 days up to and including 30 August 2003. |
Race 11 | RAPID VITE NEW ZEALAND HT 4 - C0 - 520 | SEBCO and DUTCHESS FERN came together around the first corner and into the back straight, when racing mid field. They lost momentum as a result, finishing at the rear of the field. The favourite CLYDEBANK who settled mid field, finished strongly along the rail in the home straight to win impressively. |
Race 12 | PEDIGREE ADVANCE SPRINT - C0 - 295 | Into the first corner MULBERRY ROLE and CURRENT POWER were checked as a result of general tightening, coming back on GOLD ORDER who ran wide to avoid the skirmish. These dogs never recovered, finishing at the rear of the field. |
