Race 1 2003 AWARD WINNERS DASH - C0 - 375 Flossy Tyler was swiftly away from the jump and despite being bumped and turned sideways momentarily, put a break on the field and held to the line with ease.Walton Bale finished running on for second after being one of the last to exit the boxes. Nathan Bale was also slow at the start. No 1 Ardishah ( CJ Morris). Under stand down from AGRC 19.08.03. No 8 Astronomical ( B & L Craik). Under stand down from AGRC 19.08.03.
Race 2 PETER & LOIS HENLEY SPRINT - C1 - 375 Cardinia Kev was slow to start, settled back then gained a rails run during the bend and took field into the straight - holding at the line in a close photo call. Bella Vichy and Mitcham Bale were positioned handy to lead in middle stages of race then as they entered the straight Bella Vichy in coming off the rail made contact with Mitcham Bale - that dog skewing sideways and scrambling to regain his footing. Neither Bella Vichy or Mitcham Bale featured in finish.
Race 3 WOLF GIRL JESS STAKES - C1 - 457 Androgyny and Faithful Bart were quickly across from the outside boxes to dispute lead, with Androgyny taking the field into the straight. Trendy Rhode, on debut, then moved from midfield and drove strongly between the two leaders to go to the front and held to the line. No 3 Flash Shooter (JB Hastie). Gained start in race 3.
Race 4 GONE TROPPO SPRINT - C1 - 375 Seven starters.Summertime Boy pushed across sharply from the jump and impeded the initial progress of Tranquil Talent and Benedict Bale, the two dogs drawn inside him- Summertime Boy then went on to secure the lead and held to the line. Bobbymite, in the early running, also blocked Benedict Bale's path. No 5 No Invitation ( GC Farrell). Injured during running of race at AGRC meeting on 19.08.03. Abrasion following fall. Rule 329.Stand down 6 days to 24.08.03. VC held. LATE SCRATCHING No 8 Norse Star (RA McPhee). Under stand down from AGRC 19.08.03.
Race 5 IMPROVERS FINAL - C1f - 457 Race clear. No 4 Sunset Coast ( K Walsh). Under stand down from AGRC 19.08.03.
Race 6 DAVID SCHOFIELD DASH - C2 - 375 Token Warrior rocketed away from the jump, put a break on field and held to the line.Evander Phoenix was slow to jump, conceding several lengths - after regaining the field he staged a big run around the midfield dogs and ran strongly down the straight to finish just in behind the placegetters.
Race 7 SIMPLY RED STAKES - C4/5 - 457 Bullman Bale led narrowly into the straight from Zacuba Toff, the two coming together shoulder to shoulder as they lined up for the run to the post until Zacuba Toff forged ahead and held in a very close photo call at the finish.
Race 8 WAIKATO SPRINT - C5 - 375 Hot Treasure showed early speed and then began to drift back to settle in the midfield during the race proper, not appearing again until running on late down the straight outer.Gold Amore took Snow Bird's line immediately after the jump, with Snow Bird then running to the inner of the track, later to range wide and finish back. The favourite, Aston Marshal, stormed down the straight to win, over Lightning Light, in the last few strides. Awesome Paul ran on late for third.
Race 9 LEAMINGTON DISTANCE - C2d - 747 Six starters. Hostile Gesture raced at midfield during running then moved to dominate the field in the straight and held well. No 3 Hostile Deed ( GA Lawrence). Rule 259. Ripped dew claw. Stand down 5 days to 25.08.03. Dog presented. VC held.
Race 10 STANTON BALE SPRINT - C3/4 - 375 Oh My Gosh was placed second in the early running, then midfield as field swept towards the straight. The backrunners bunched tightly at the bottom of the straight, with Oh My Gosh amidst the bunch being pressed from the outer by Kedo's Ned, and then when Never Time came off the rail Oh My Gosh was checked and sprawled down on all fours onto the track - then quickly recovered and finished the race. A veterinary examintion post race cleared Oh My Gosh of any injury.
Race 11 SOULSTORM STAKES - C2/3 - 457 Dot Matrix was the early leader until Wolf Girl Jess from out wide took control and did not relinquish it from there. No 2 Noble Role (J McInerney). W & D GRC scratching.
