Race 1 | PEDIGREE ADVANCE STAKES - C2 - 520 | There was a general tightening of the field after the jump with Jay Gee's Boy then drawing away with Dr Strezlecki in close attendance. Heading into the straight Dr Strezlecki drew up alongside Jay Gee's Boy but could overtake with the leader retaining a close margin at the line. In the early stages of the race, approaching the first bend Kerchak checked sharply off the back of Costa Time, that dog's back legs splaying out onto the track under the presssure and disadvantaging Costa Time badly. Moon Runner ranged wide at the first bend when avoiding the inside jostling. |
Race 2 | ROCKCOTE SPRINT - C4/5 - 295 | Geoffrey Crayon was slow to start, regained the field and ran on late but only to midfield. Lightning Light and Enlightening were joint early leaders, then Lighting Light moved ahead but veered out at the final bend presenting Awesome Paul the opportunity to race along the inner - which he took and held to the line. No 6 Ioman (J & D Fahey) Rule 259 - diarrhoea. Stand down 5 days to 11/08.03. Dog presented. VC held. |
Race 3 | SUPERPETS SPRINT - C3 - 295 | The field jumped on even terms but Token Genius dwelt slightly afterwards.The favourite Paging was quickly to the front and held well to the line. Ryan's Son was squeezed in the general tightening in the early stages then after contact with Hostile Honcho dropped back to rear, tailing the field home at the finish. A post race veterinary examination revealed a torn muscle injury. No 4 Endless Story (BC Dann). Under stand down from CGRC meeting. No 7 Jack The Alien (MM Grant). Rule 259 - diarrhoea. Stand down 5 days to 11.08.03. Dog presented. VC held. No 3 Ryan's Son ( JT McInerney). Rule 329 - torn left gracilus. Stand down 28 days to 03.09.03. VC held. |
Race 4 | APACHE LODGE JUVENILE HEAT 1 - R/Aq - 520 Heat 1 | Monkey Love moved across from box 6 after the jump, impacting with Chestnut Bale on his way to the lead - a lead which he held until the favourite Bankside Dream took control down the straight and held to the line. After being the subject of the jostling at the start Chestnut Bale drifted to the back, second last, but then made late ground down the track inner to get up for third. No 5 Sunset Jest (L Jensen). Rule 259 - injury to rear off side leg. Stand down 10 days to 15.08.03. VC held. |
Race 5 | COASTERS TAVERN SPRINT - C4/5 - 295 | Old Monaro was positioned handy to leaders in the early stages when he was checked by Yeap as that dog moved off the rail. Old Monaro moved out and away from Yeap and came into the path of Courage - after impacting with Courage, Old Monaro continued his drift to the rear, and did not feature any further. Courage also drifted and was checked from behind by Goodtime Lad as he did so. |
Race 6 | BILLS BAR & BISTRO DISTANCE - C1/2d - 732 | The favourite Whisky Pete was jostled whilst within bunching dogs as Chantilly Bale moved out from box 2 and Waste Bin crossed from the outside box - Whisky Pete was struck initially struck by Chantilly Bale and then cannoned against Waste Bin. Whisky Pete scrambled, regained footing, then recovered momentum down the back straight , veered wide briefly and then back to the rail, went between dogs and surged strongly to the line to be in a close photo call for third. |
Race 7 | APACHE LODGE JUVENILE HEAT 2 - R/Aq - 520 Heat 1 | The favourite Winsome Guy was slow at the jump, conceded several lengths, recovered to midfield in the running, then set out to round the backrunners and finished running on, but without effecting any real threat to the placegetters. |
Race 8 | APACHE LODGE JUVENILE HEAT 3 - R/Aq - 520 Heat 1 | Marsha Bale was swiftly along the rail from the inside box to take the lead, established a good margin down the back and then held to the line. Hugh Dagg appeared to have his front feet lifted up when the lids went up and conceded the other dogs several lengths. After recovering the field Hugh Dagg was in contact with Dark Slider but retained his intent with a sustained run to get up for third, although some distance from the first two placegetters. |
Race 9 | WILSONS SPORTS BAR STAKES - C4/5 - 520 | Race clear. No 7 Daphne Bale ( AC Roberts). Rule 259 - injury to left carpus. Stand down 10 days to 16.08.03. VC held. |
Race 10 | CANTERBURY DRAUGHT SIX PACK - C3/4 - 520 | Seven starters with late scratching of Burst Away.Tiger Safari, when midfield down back straight, was pressured by Dr Delaney and came into contact with the rail - recovered well to keep momentum and finish third. Dr Delaney also checked World Priority in the middle stages of the race, World Priority drifting from there and finishing towards the back of the field. LATE SCRATCHING No 2 Burst Away (R Blackburn). Rule 259 - left fore toe sprain. Stand down 10 days to 16.08.03. Dog presented. VC held. |
