Judicial report: Weather: Sunny but cool conditions. HOMEBUSH KERRY (JT McInerney) who was required to undertake a box trial under Rule: 242, undertook that trial satisfactorly. Papers endorsed accordingly.

Race 1 | PEDIGREE ADVANCE SPRINT - C0 - 295 | Into the first corner OUR MICK eased when tightened between TIP TOP and MARRICK MAID while vying for the lead, losing a couple of lengths. He held on well for third. HOMEBUSH JET ran wide around the bend into the home straight, losing ground finishing sixth. |
Race 2 | ROCKCOTE STAKES - C1 - 520 | FLY BYE ANGEL was slow to jump from the outside box, settling last. Into the first corner HOT RED MINI, XAVIER'S STAR and CALM DREAMER came together losing momentum, with a resultant check to a trailing CLEVER COPY. FLY BYE ANGEL who was endeavouring to improve at this point, ran wide to avoid the skirmish, she running on for third with the other dogs filling the last four places. |
Race 3 | SUPERPETS SPRINT - C0 - 295 | HOMEBUSH TROY and IMPOSTER dwelt slightly at the start, settling mid field. Into the first corner PRINCESS ARAPHO checked outwards off HOMEBUSH MARY'S hindquarters, forcing an improving BOY RACER over extra ground. IMPOSTER when endeavouring to improve, ran wide, following PRINCESS ARAPHO into the home straight, these dogs finishing at the rear of the field. BOY RACER ran on well for third, with HOMEBUSH TROY fourth. The short priced favourite TOKEN TALK drove to the lead into the first corner, winning the event easily. |
Race 4 | GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND STAKES - C0 - 520 | HOMEBUSH FIN was very slow to jump from the boxes, settling a distant last. The favourite INDICATIVE and HOMEBUSH BILL also missed the jump by 1-2 lengths settling well back. Into the first corner BEDAZZLED JEWEL and EBONY DELUXE came together for a number of strides, EBONY DELUXE running on for second with BEDAZZLED JEWEL who covered extra ground, finishing a close up fifth. HOMEBUSH BILL improved along the rail down the back straight, before railing up under TURBO JEWEL turning for home, finishing well to win the event, with the favourite INDICATIVE finishing a close up sixth. CHOSEN FELLA who settled well back and was near the rear turning in, finished strongly in tight quarters for second. TOP CURRENT (MJ Flipp) left hind foot infected. Dog presented. Race 5 | SHIRLEY VETERINARY CENTRE SPRINT - C1 - 295 | The second favourite YOUNG TEZZA ran wide into the home straight when vying for the lead, however finished very strongly over the concluding stages to get up and win impressively. TRAVELLIN' JACK and KAMATIZE ran wide into the home straight when racing at the rear of the field, filling the last two places. |
Race 6 | GEORGE CALVERT CLEANING STAKES - C0 - 520 | The favourite MUSCIAL DRAMA and SEPTEMBER STORM was slow to jump from the boxes. MUSICAL DRAMA improved quickly to lead around the corner, winning the event impressively. On the entrance to the back straight HOMEBUSH EDWARD when tightened, checked out off the hindquarters of HONEY'S MEMORY, colliding with an improving SEPTEMBER STORM, both dogs losing all chance, finishing some distance behind the remainder of the field. |
Race 7 | BILLS BAR & BISTRO SPRINT - C1 - 295 | Into the first corner MELTING POT and I'VE GOT FLAIR came together, losing ground. MELTING POT never recovered finishing last, however IV'E GOT FLAIR railled up into the home straight running on for fifth. MELTING POT was checked following the event by the Club Veterinarian and found to have a right hock injury, recommending a stand down period of 21 days. Race 8 | TEMPS BAR STAKES - C0 - 520 | MESHEL MISHEL was slow to jump from the boxes settling last, however when improving into the first corner she and SHINING SKOOT came together for a number of strides, both dogs losing momentum. MESHEL MISHEL never improved finishing last, with SHINING SKOOT running on for fourth. |
Race 9 | ISLINGTON TAVERN SPRINT - C0 - 295 | The lids failed to open at the commencement of this event, with the dogs being reloaded and the race commencing 2 1/2 minutes late. The re start was uneventful. Into the first corner the second favourite HOMEBUSH ROSE struck the hindquarters of MOLLY D'LOON, before checking outwards and coming in contact with TOP NOTCH CONNIE on her outer. These three dogs lost all chance as a result, finishing at the rear of the field. |
Race 10 | WINNING EDGE STAKES - C1 - 520 | RARE TALENT ran wide around the first corner and into the back straight, losing ground, before improving down the back straight and wilting out over the final stages to finish last. DR KINGSLEY who raced mid field, finished fast in the straight wide out to get up and win impressively. SATIN GRIP (JF Allen) late scratching at Wellington GRC meeting on 31 July 2003 under Rule: 257 (1), with a valid reason. SATIN GRIP had consumed confectionary accidently, which was accepted as a valid reason under Rule: 257 (1). No penalty. |
Race 11 | LITTLE BROWN JUG SPRINT - C2/3 - 295 | Into the first corner GOURMET was squeezed between dogs, drifting back through the field to finish last. The favourite ENDLESS STORY finished mid field and was checked after the event by the Club Veterinarian who found a painful right wrist, recommending a stand down period of 14 days. MY PERK (JV Busch) laceration to left hind foot. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule: 259. 10 days up to and including 13 August 2003. ENDLESS STORY (BC Dann) Rule: 329. 14 days up to and including 18 August 2003. |
Race 12 | ABRAHAMS TAVERN STAKES - C1 - 520 | Entering the first corner PAREORA PEARL and the second favourite RAZOR ROBERTSON were tightened, settling at the rear of the field. Into the home straight WEE SWEETIE and the favourite SEASPRAY ROCK came together, with WEE SWEETIE checking outwards and colliding with an improving RAZOR ROBERTSON. These dogs lost all chance, filling the last three places. |
Race 13 | WILSONS SPORTS BAR & TAB SPRINT - C1 - 295 | Into the firsr corner SAUCY ANNA eased from behind HIGH ANXIETY losing momentum, however recovered well to run home along the rail for fifth. |
Race 14 | HALSWELL TAVERN STAKES - C1/2 - 520 | The favourite WHISKY BANDIT was forced wide around the first corner into the back straight, settling last finishing seventh. On the point of the home turn MITCHAM BALE improved up inside MY KEV, unbalancing that dog for a stride. These dogs finished close up behind the place getters in fifth and sixth places. |
Race 15 | BOWL AND JACK STAKES - C1 - 520 | DE MAYO was slow to jump from the boxes, settling a distant last. Into the first corner CAMBODIA GIRL ran outwards, checking SEASPRAY PADERO and the favourite CHESTNUT BALE. These dogs never recovered from this incident finishing mid field. CHAUSSER who took up a prominent position in the early stages of the event, drifted over the concluding stages to finish last. DE MAYO never recovered from her slow start, finishing seventh. |
Race 16 | COALGATE TAVERN SPRINT - C2 - 295 | Entering the first corner HOMEBUSH DEEJAY eased, coming back on a trailing DICTATION, both dogs losing all chance finishing amongst the tail enders. |
