PETRIFIED moved out and SECRET PRINCE moved in soon after the start and this resulted in one of the favourites SABRE SPIRIT being badly checked. He lost several lengths and any chance of a placing. TARTAN CHIEF. Trainer B.McMillan. Rule 259 Hind leg injury. Fourteen days stand down to 12.08.03. |
| Race 2 | PAURI DASH - C0 - 305 | MISS KERBY ran in very sharply from the eight box as the start was made and caused tightening and checks to every other runner except the eventual winner HELLUVA BREEZE who had drawn box one. |

HURTLING, MIDDLETON BAY and NELLY PITSTOCK were all scratched Ex Manawatu on 29.07.03 ACTION PARKER ran in leading towards the first corner, struck the rail firmly on two occasions and then dropped out to finish several lenghts last. | Race 4 | VIRGINIA LAKE BEGINNERS STAKES - C0 - 520 | NO MORE BLONDES and UNO IMA REBEL collided on the first corner with UNO IMA REBEL losing about four lengths. Soon after, NO MORE BLONDES and MISS TWIGGY collided with MISS TWIGGY being the worst affected and she lost several lengths. |

WAIWERA ZEAL dropped back quickly soon after the start and ran some distance behind the field, finishing a long last.
