Judicial report: Weather: Fine, following heavy morning frost. Trainer T Watson, Pukekohe, was fined $100.00 in terms of Rule 269.3, when he presented the greyhound Kirsty Lee with a weight variance of 1.9 under it's last race start.

Race 1 HAUTAPU HURDLES - C1h - 457 Hurdles race.Seven original starters, reduced to six when race was restarted after malfunction of lure, with lure stopping between first and second hurdles. The dog withdrawn from the restart was No 3, Emerald Forest, which was injured when jumping the first hurdle, and is now subject to a lengthy standdown. All remaining dogs were subject to veterinary examination and cleared prior to restart. After the lure was replaced the race commenced with Tauwhare Victor taking an early lead and holding convincingly. Kotuku Aranui quickly tailed off and ran off the course at the second to last hurdle. This dog is required to complete a satisfactory trial before competing again, in terms of Rule179.1. The delay in restarting this race and effecting replacement of the lure resulted in the programme being re-scheduled, with start timings put forward to the timings originally set for the following race; with the last race race being advanced to 6.59pm. Race 2 CAMBRIDGE MAIDEN SPRINT HEAT 1 - C0q - 375 Heat 1 Seven starters. Arnies First, the favourite, took an early lead and held to the line. Astro Edition, from box 2, was slow to start and moved to the rail at rear, then when negotiating bend into straight veered wide and ran very wide from there, finishing in last position. No 7 Kedo's Ginger (M Earley). Rule 259. Left hind foot swelling. Dog presented. Vet certificate held. Stand down 7 days to 28.07.03. No 9 Yugo Warrior (C A Gough). Rule 254 (100K). No 10 Sheza Star (D M Smith) - gained start in race 3.
Race 3 CAMBRIDGE MAIDEN SPRINT HEAT 2 - C0q - 375 Heat 1 Trixie's Wonder was slow to start, conceding may lengths and settling at the rear, a position from which she made no improvement. Bella Vichy was up to lead until Mr Big Head crossed and took over momentarily - Bella Vichy then again took lead but when entering the straight veered wide and allowed Awesome Tyler to speed through on the rail and hold to the line. No 1 Pixar Starr(A Duganzich). Rule 259. Muscle injury. Vet certificate held. Stand down 10 days to 31.07.03.
Race 4 TAYLOR ROAD STAKES - C1 - 457 Shave The Sheep from the inside box was slow to start, settled towards the rear and when exiting the bend into straight ran very wide, finishing at rear. No 8 Iteru Ka (S Blackburn) Rule 259. Left wrist injury. Dog presented. Vet certificate held. Stand down 7 days to 25.07.03 LATE SCRATCHING No 4 Kirsty Lee ( T Watson). Rule 269.3. Weight variance - under 1.9.
Race 5 CAMBRIDGE MAIDEN SPRINT HEAT 3 - C0q - 375 Heat 1 Mr Luke took command from the jump and held to the line. Token Answer, from box no 7 crossed in front of Wandering Eyes after the jump, causing that dog to ease back, and then continued to cross impacting with Rikkilee Kiwi, pushing that dog into both Rusty Rover and Buster Keaton, those two dogs at that time racing adjacent to the rail.All three dogs thus checked by the actions of Token Answer did not feature in the finish, but Token Answer carried on and placed second. Wandering Eyes was able to recover from the early setback and placed third.
Race 6 CAMBRIDGE MAIDEN SPRINT HEAT 4 - C0q - 375 Heat 1 Sunset Coast from box 5 moved over towards the rail after the jump, coming into contact with Miss Bella Rosa, drawn inside him. Sunset Coast moved along the rail and exiting the bend moved away strongly from the field for the win. Miss Bella Rosa, after contact with the eventual winner, drifted to the rear, veered very wide entering the home straight and did not improve her position.
Race 7 HANNON ROAD STAKES - C1 - 457 Bindi Patch raced at midfield in early stages then dropped right off pace - tailing the field home a distant last.
Race 8 KING STREET SPRINT - C1 - 375 Southern Hope raced wide after drawing the outside box then when rounding the bend Our Benson sought to improve from the rear of the field and moved wide, coming into contact with and galloping onto Southern Hope's back - forcing that dog to be splayed down onto the track. This incident cost both dogs any chance of featuring in the finish.
Race 9 THOMAS WOOD PHOTOGRAPHY DASH - C2 - 375 Six starters with late scratching of Kirsty Lee, subject of a weight variance in excess of the allowable margin. Hit The Turbo came from second last at the bottom of the straight to take the decision in a close photo finish. Lawless Lady ranged wide at first bend, stayed wide and finished at rear. No 8 Bally Angel ( D L Annette). Under stand down imposed at W & D GRC meeting 18.07.03.
Race 10 MATANGI STAKES - C2 - 457 Winsome Rocket moved out decisively from box 4 after the jump, making contact firstly with Basil Faulty and then Wolf Girl Jess, then straightening up and moving on strongly for the line. Bobbymite drifted back after showing early speed, was blocked for a run moving into the straight, and finished towards the rear.
Race 11 PEAKE ROAD DASH - C3/4 - 375 Race clear.
Race 12 VICTORIA ROAD DASH - C4/5 - 375 Stanton Bale moved from the midfield to be second into the straight - then gtradually eroded the lead of Allegro Comet - taking the decision in a close finish. Rawhiti Lad and Allegro Flight ran with shoulder to shoulder contact after the jump, then Onslow Bale from box 7 came across and impacted with Allegro Flight, skewing that dog sideways and badly affecting his chances to feature in the finish. Rawhiti Lad ranged wide after the jostling and continued wide into the straight, finishing at the back of the field. Onslow Bale made late ground down the straight to finish in behind the placegetters.
Race 13 FORREST ROAD SPRINT - C2 - 375 Seven starters.Time Payment pushed over after the jump and came into contact with Gentle Jade - Gentle Jade twisted around and scrambled to regain her footing but then drifted back and did not feature in finish. No 3 Ben Vegas ( B & L Craik). Rule 258. Stand down 30 days to 20.08.03.
Race 14 1ST HAMILTON DISTANCE - C1d - 630 Taumata Girl was slow to start, settled at rear and trailed home a distant last. Gold Jed was midfield down the back straight, improved along rail to lead field moving out of the final bend and then surged away for strong win. Just Glad made up ground late for fourth. No 3 Disco Journey (N P Green). Broken hock. Dog humanely euthanised post race meeting.
Race 15 2ND HAMILTON DISTANCE - C1d - 630 Taiho Tiger took control from Rose Groover midway down back straight and took field to the winning post from there. Fido Dido dropped back to the rear after the jump and did not make any improvement from there. Samson Phoenix finished well for third.
Race 16 BRUNTWOOD STAKES - C3 - 457 Griswold loped away from the leaders, Sunset Jest and Mavriki Glider, from midway down the home straight. No 6 Big Teddy Boy( D D Schofield). Rule 259. Sore cervical muscle. Vet certificate held. Stand down 10 days to 29.07.03. No 7 Cawbourne Jack (K Walsh). Rule 259. Triceps injury. Dog presented. Vet certificate held. Stand down 10 dayas to 30.07.03.
