Judicial report: Supplementary Report - Palmerston North GRC 2 February 2022:

Trainer B Hodgson advised Stewards that GRASSCUTTER ALEX has shown no sign of injury after contacting the lids at the start of the race.

Clear runs:

PORTELLI PUNK ( K Lincoln Papuni ) has completed 10 clear runs.

Late scratchings:

1 ) ELLIAS BALE ( C Roberts ) race 5.

Vet checks.

1 ) BEAU BEAU ( S Lozelle ) race 9 failed to present his runner for vetting after being called by the Stewards.
The stewards will contact S Lozelle in the coming days for an explanation and for an update on the condition of the dog.

Injury trials required.

1) SO EXCITED ( C Turnwald ).

1 ) FINE INTENTION ( G & S Fredrickson ) race 2 set a new track record over 720m of 41.44 s.

2) KNOW KEEPER ( G Cleeve ) race 3 set a new track record over 720m of 40.93s.

Race 1	TAB Bonus Back This Weekend C3/C4 - C3/4 - 457	WONDER WOMEN (1) - hampered for a couple of strides entering the bend. Blocked when looking to improve between runners nearing the home turn. BROKE BRAD (3) - soon after the start he angled outwards across heels losing some momentum entering the bend. HE'S ALI (4) - slow into stride , angled and dictated outwards in the run to the bend. Checked off heels on the top bend unable to make ground thereafter. THRILLING MAPLE (5) - hampered when contacted entering the bend running wide and lost ground. ALLEGRO MARS (8) - fav- angled inwards into the bend then pushed wide losing some ground. Made good ground to the line.
Race 2	720m Nancy Cobain Memorial (Group 2) Heat 1 - C2dq - 720 Heat 1	FINE INTENTION set a new track record of 41.44. FINE INTENTION (6) - Led into the back straight and was never headed setting a new track record. BORING (8) - ran wide around the bend out of the home straight on the first occasion.
Race 3	720m Nancy Cobain Memorial (Group 2) Heat 2 - C2dq - 720 Heat 2	ELLIAS BALE was a late scratching at kenneling on vets advice. KNOW KEEPER set a new track record of 40.93. BRICKMAN (4) - contact soon afetr the start. HIGHVIEW NESS (5) - angled outwards racing from the start . Raced wide around the first bend and along the back straight steadily made ground to the line. KNOW KEEPER (8) - worked his way to the lead racing into the far bend and distanced the field thereafter to set a new track record.
Race 4	457m Manawatu Cup Feature Heat 1 - C5q - 457 Heat 1	THRILLING RISK (3) - unable to get a handy position early settling back. Looked to improve into the bend and was checked when running onto heels. Soon after he angled across to the rail checking runner to his inner. Referred to the vet and cleared of injury. DALISHA BALE (4) - tightened and checked racing from the start losing momentum and ground. OPAWA WAYNE (6) - jostled between runner's entering the bend. Checked again soon after when contacted in the hindquarters. BIG TIME STUNNER (7) - contact and jostled between runners entering the bend. Checked and lost ground across the top bend as THRILLING RISK cut down to the rail , checked again soon after . Referred to the vet and cleared of injury.
Race 5	457m Manawatu Cup Feature Heat 2 - C5q - 457 Heat 2	OPAWA SUPERSTAR (2) - fav- contact racing from the start. BIG TIME MAPLE (3) - contact with OPAWA SUPERSTAR at the start. Jostled for some strides in the run to the bend losing momentum and ground. ALLEGRO ZIPPY (4) - racing handy into the bend where he was contacted hard in the hindquarters becoming unbalanced an lost ground back to the rear. Referred to the vet and cleared of injury. BAHATI BALE (5) - angled inwards in the run into the bend jostling and bumping with BIG TIME MAPLE for some strides losing some momentum and ground.
Race 6	Greyhounds Make Great Pets Sprint Heat 1 - C5q - 410 Heat 1	SO EXCITED (1) - away well racing near the lead into the bend angling outwards running into ALLEGRO BANDIT, soon after entering the bend he came together with NEVADA PHIL and went off stride drifting back to the rear finishing onto the lure. Referred to the vet and was found to have a fractured right hock and will have xrays and possible surgery in the coming days. He has been stood down for 12 weeks and to the completion of an injury trial. GOLDSTAR ZAGAR (3) - checked in the early stages and went back off heels. THRILLING MURPHY (5) - checked soon after the start as ALLEGRO BANDIT angled across onto his shoulder and he lost ground. NEVADA PHIL (6) - checked soon afetr the start and angled out across heels .Improved into the bend becoming awkwardly placed for a few strides and was contacted in behind checking in onto SO EXCITED to his inner. ALLEGRO BANDIT (7) - angled across from the jump checking runner to his inner and ran in onto the shoulder of THRILLING MURPHY. GOLDSTAR LARSON (8) - improving wide around runners onto the top bend where he angled inwards into the hind of NEVADA PHIL and checked.
Race 7	Greyhounds Make Great Pets Sprint Heat 2 - C5q - 410 Heat 2	PORTELLI PUNK (1) - vying for the lead on the inner in the run across the top bend when tightened and ran onto the hind of GOLDSTAR NOLEN and checked going back through the field towards the rear. Referred to the vet and was found to have pain on flexion of off fore. A 10 day stand down was recommended. BEES AND BIRDS (4) - contact in the hindquarters and pushed sideways into the bend contacting the hind of BIG TIME PRADA. HIGHVIEW TIGGER (5) - began awkwardly and was slow into stride .He angled wide in the run into the bend checking wider across heels across the top bend and covered a fair amount of extra ground in the running. BIG TIME PRADA (6) - fav- racing handy in the bunch into the bend when contacted and stumbled for a couple of strides losing momentum and ground back towards the rear . She was unable to make ground thereafter and was referred to the vet and cleared of injury. BIG TIME FUZZ (7) - dictated inwards for several strides in onto BIG TIME PRADA racing into the bend. GOLDSTAR NOLAN (8) - angled across in the run towards the bend tightening in onto BIG TIME FUZZ pushing her in onto BIG TIME PRADA. Hampered in the run across the top bend when checking as PORTELLI PUNK checked back off his hind.
Race 8	Greyhounds Make Great Pets Sprint Heat 3 - C5q - 410 Heat 3	OPAWA GYPSY (2) - racing handy in the run towards the home turn when abruptly checked and went back several lengths. BIG TIME GIGI (3) - bumped and jostled in the run towards the bend being pushed sideways for a stride or so entering the bend. She came back off heels across the top bend finishing in the rear at the line. XANTHONE (4) - in the run towards the bend she was bumped and jostled for some strides as MISS ADOBE angled across. She was tightened out of her position between runners entering the bend losing momentum and ground. GOLDSTAR GIGI (5) - soon after the start she angled outwards racing widest into and around the bend. MISS ADOBE (6) - angled across onto XANTHONE bumping and jostling with this runner for some strides in the run to the bend causing herself to lose some momentum and ground. AGENT LEVI (7) - First NZ start .Had trialed in a fast time at Wanganui last year and a forward showing today was expected by the connections.
Race 9	Outback Trading Company C4 - C4 - 410	KNOW RATIO (4) - tightened and checked into the bend as BIG TIME STAR angled inwards sharply across his line. He abruptly checked and ran outwards becoming awkwardly placed for some strides. BIG TIME STAR (5) - angled into the bend causing severe tightening and checking KNOW RATIO to his inner. ZAMAH (6) - checked into the bend as MR FARENHEIT angled in across his line losing momentum and ground. MR FARENHEIT (7) - angled wide from the jump as is his customary racing style angling inwards entering the bend across the line of ZAMAH who caught a heel resulting in MR FARENHEIT losing his balance in behind running out extremely wide for several strides losing all chance. Referred to the vet and cleared of injury. BEAU BEAU (8) - fav- began very awkwardly spreading himself as he came out of the boxes. He settled well back in the rear and once balanced up he made some ground to the line and was referred to the vet . Refer to judicial.
Race 10	Big Barrel Palmerston North C2/C3 - C2/3 - 410	WAITING GAME (2) - dwelt at the jump. Soon into stride and angled outwards between runners forcing WEBBER COME out onto MY KHOLE and all dogs jostled for some strides with WAITING GAME being pushed sideways for a few strides entering the bend and went out across the line of WEBBER COME checking this runner. She lost ground and was referred to the vet and cleared of injury. OPAWA BUD (3) - crowded between runners and checked back in the run to the bend. BIGTIME BRODY (5) - fav- bumped with WEBBER COME leaving the boxes. WEBBER COME (6) - in the run towards the bend he was pushed outwards onto MY KHLOE becoming awkwardly placed and checked abruptly when coming back off the hind of WAITING GAME and lost all chance thereafter. referred to the vet and cleared of injury. MY KHLOE (7) - angled outwards in the early stages then looked to angle inwards into the bend running onto the hind of WEBBER COME pushing this runner inwards resulting in MY KHOLE becoming awkwardly placed and falling to the track She recovered quickly to her paws to finish onto the lure and was referred to the vet and was found to have no obvious injuries. A 5 day stand down was given as per the fall in race policy.
Race 11	Red Snapper Seafoods, Christchurch C2/C3 - C2/3 - 410	DENUTO (1) - trailed handy to the lead to the home turn weakened in the latter stages to the line. WATERLOO PINK (5) - checked at the start as CHECK ME OUT ran into her, then bumped as RHODES WORTHY came across. She angled outwards into the bend racing wide making ground and jostled with WHEELHOUSE on her outer for some strides. held up when clearing heels nearing the home turn losing ground as she ran wide into the home straight. CHECK ME OUT (6) - jumped inwards running into and over the hind of WATERLOO PINK leaving the boxes. became unbalanced for a couple of strides entering the bend. RHODES WORTHY (7) - soon after the star the ran inwards running onto WATERLOO PINK for a couple of strides. WHEELHOUSE (8) - fav- missed the jump and was last into stride. He attempted to improve into the bend and was obligated to check out across heels being dictated wide jostling with WATERLOO PINK for some strides. Caught heels and checked then angled inwards into the home turn was unable to make ground to the line.
Race 12	Total Bodyshop Supplies C2 - C2 - 410	BIG TIME HOTSHOT (2) - began awkwardly for a stride or so but was able to recover quickly into stride. IDOL MEGHAN (3) - contact soon after the start as KIOSK angled across. She then angled outwards onto the shoulder of KIOSK then crowded and lost momentum and ground back to the rear . SUPER GOLD (4) - fav went up in the boxes and was awkwardly away being last into stride by a couple of lengths. awkwardly placed and unbalanced for a few strides entering the bend . Made up good ground to the line. KIOSK (5) - angled inwards from the jump running into and checking IDOL MEGHAN. Soon after he was bumped as IDOL MEGHAN angled outwards and was hampered entering the bend as IDOL MEGHAN angled out onto his shoulder and jostled then checked as MY BENTLY angled across onto him. MY BENTLEY (7) - checked at the start as BIG TIME EDDIE ran in across his line. Checked into the bend when angling across tightening in onto KIOSK for several strides. BIG TIME EDDIE (8) - ran in across the line of MY BENTLY racing from the start.
