1). Stewards have concluded their investigation in regards trainer S Ross permitting her Greyhound ‘SOVEREIGN PRIDE’ to be kenneled with a prohibited aversive electronic training device at the Waikato GRC’s meeting on the 9th July 2020.
As a result of this investigation the Racing Integrity Unit issued charges alleging breaches of the following rules of Greyhound Racing New Zealand:
1) GRNZ Rule 62.1(q) – Ms Ross pled not guilty in that she did an act which was detrimental to the interests and welfare of greyhound racing.
2) GRNZ Rule 62.1(g) – Ms Ross pled guilty in that during the course of the investigation she impeded Stewards by refusing to answer questions related to the investigation.
3) GRNZ Rule 62.1(p) – Ms Ross pled guilty in that she failed to comply with the lawful order of a Racing Integrity Unit official.
4) GRNZ Rule 62.1(w) – Ms Ross pled guilty in that she made a statement which was known to be false to a Racecourse Investigator.
At a Judicial Control Authority hearing held at Cambridge Raceway on the 8th September 2020 the JCA, having heard evidence tendered by all parties disqualified Ms Ross’s licence for a period of 15 months which is to be backdated to the commencement of the Exclusion Notice on the 13th July 2020. Ms Ross was also ordered to pay costs of $1450 to the RIU and $750 to the JCA.

Veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. GRUNT (2) - tightened after the start losing ground. Inconvenienced first turn. Contact several occasions rounding the bend. CALL ME LEO (4) - tightened first turn shifting out abruptly across heels becoming unbalanced losing ground. BOTANY THOMMO (5) - contact first turn. BOTANY WAYNE (6) - contact first turn.
