Judicial report: (1) Acting under Rule 11.3(s) Stewards declared the meeting to be abandoned as circumstances prevented the continued conduct of the meeting. Under Rule 51.2 Race 1 was declared a No Race when the lead greyhound came within centimetres of catching the lure and, in consequence, checked the trailing greyhound. Stewards reviewed film coverage and deemed the lure distance under Rule 51.2 had a material effect on the outcome of the Race. The lure driver was spoken to and he advised that he could not get traction on the wet rail when attempting to speed up the lure into the turn. The race was abandoned under Rule 52.6 in the interests of animal welfare as all dogs had completed the 390m. The lure was checked and tested prior to the start of Race 2 with the following six races held without further problem. Possible human error in Race 1 was subsequently ruled out as a factor in the lure failure when Race 8 was abandoned in similar circumstances and the meeting itself was subsequently abandoned. Under Rule 51.2 Race 8 was declared a No Race when the lure sharply slowed down and came back to the lead greyhound who was forced to abruptly shorten stride and caught the lure allowing the field to catch up. Stewards reviewed film coverage and deemed the lure failure had a material effect on the outcome of the Race. The race was duly abandoned under Rule 52.6 in the interests of animal welfare as all dogs had completed the 457m. After Race 8 the lure was checked and the meeting put back one race to change the lure and conduct further tests. The problem was not rectified by the lure carriage change. An issue with power to the lure carriage in the back straight was identified with the club electrician and lure driver not confident that the problem could be readily fixed and racing could safely proceed without further breakdowns. Accordingly the race meeting was abandoned. (2) In Race 2 GO GUNNA (R.Wales) suspended for 28 days under under Rule 55.1a for marring and required to complete a Satisfactory Trial.

Race 1	www.southlandgreyhounds.co.nz - C0 - 390	Under Rule 51.2 this race was declared a No Race when the lead greyhound SLY BET (5) came within centimetres of catching the lure, forced to turn his head inwards and come back on KEVRON (4) causing this greyhound to be checked when making contact with the rear of the lead greyhound. On the inside KNOCKA BUSH (3) was also tightened as SLY BET shifted inwards and in turn checked the greyhound to the inside HOLLY GRACE (2) who was forced against the running rail and then checked sharply outwards dictating another runner wide. Trainer M.Grant was shown the video and advised that the actions of HOLLY GRACE would be monitored in future but no further action was merited given the circumstances of the lure problems and declaration of a No Race.. Stewards reviewed film coverage and deemed the lure distance under Rule 51.2 had a material effect on the outcome of the Race. The race was duly abandoned under Rule 52.6 as all dogs had completed the 390m.
Race 2	ADDED ENERGY STAKES - C0 - 457	GLASS HARPOON (2) - checked into the turn. MELTING WORLD (3) - shifted inwards into the turn checking trailing runner. GO GUNNA (6) - turned head outwards into the turn, taking eyes of the lure and making head contact with the runner to the outside. Stewards reviewed the video under Rule 11.1(b) and deemed the greyhound to have marred the running of another greyhound under Rule 55.1(a) and suspended the greyhound for 28 days with the requirement to complete a Satisfactory Trial before being eligible to race again. GO SLICK (8) - slow to jump losing ground early.

Race 4	MR WHIPPY SOUTHLAND - C3 - 390	ZUGZWANG (4) - pushed outwards in run to the turn checking runner to outside. SMASH ATTACK (6) - checked in run to the turn. OHOKA ALEX (9/5) - very slow to jump losing ground early.
Race 5	SOUTHLAND & OTAGO PHOTO FINISH - C4/5 - 390	HOWIE BALE (7) - shifted outwards off heels into the turn checking trailing runner. WHEELCHAIR NORM (8) - checked into turn losing ground.
Race 6	NZ Racing Series Advanced Heats - NZRSq - 457 Heat 1	VIKINGS (2) - checked into the turn. NOZZNO FEAR (4) - tightened between runners in run to the turn losing ground and checking trailing runner. SARCASM (7) - slow to jump losing momentum early.
Race 7	NZ Racing Series Advanced Heats - NZRSq - 457 Heat 2	KNOW HASSLE (3) - slow to jump losing ground early. OPAWA BRAD (4) - ran outwards in run to the turn checking runner to outside. CHARLIE RUNKEL (7) - checked in run to the turn.
Race 8	CONGRATULATIONS JUSTIN BEAVER - C2/3 - 457	Under Rule 51.2 this race was declared a No Race when the lure sharply slowed down in the back straight and came back to the lead greyhound ROVER BALE (1) who was forced to abruptly shorten stride and caught the lure which allowed the field to catch up. Stewards reviewed film coverage and deemed the lure distance under Rule 51.2 had a material effect on the outcome of the Race. The race was duly abandoned under Rule 52.6 as all dogs had completed the 457m.
