Track: Good The track was presented in good order and the meeting proceeded smoothly and concluded on time.

Judicial report: ERASMUS a starter in Race 8 is required to complete a satisfactory trial under the provisions of Rule 38.9 after an unsatisfactory performance. This requirement has now been been rescinded after ERASMUS was presented to the Vet at Wanganui on 17.01.18 and found to have a gracilis muscle injury requiring a 28 days stand day and was incurred at Palmerston North on 15.01.18. BIGTIME RANSON a starter in Race 11 was stood down for 28 days under the provisions of Rule 55.1 b for failing to pursue the lure throughout and is also required to complete a satisfactory trial under Rule 38.9 before next racing. The co Trainer indicated to the Stewards that consideration will now be given to retiring the bitch from racing.

Race 1	Formpro Ratings Free Every Monday C0 - C0 - 375	CAWBOURNE ROB (1) - Began awkwardly and blundered but recovered quickly. CAWBOURNE GIBBO (2) - Drifted to the rear going into the bend and stayed back throughout the remainder to finish several lengths last. Was referred to the Vet and and found to have pectoral muscle pain and a toe injury. BIGTIME KAEA (3) - Was checked from behind on the bend and lost ground and stayed back. HARDAWAY CHIEF (6) - Was slow to begin and settled back. Checked off heels on the bend losing ground and stayed well back. LITTLE TORNADO (7) - Slow to begin and settled back but made up some ground for 4th place.
Race 2	Greyhounds As Pets C1 - C1 - 375	BIGTIME SPARK (2) - Was crowded from the outside and checked back to the rear going to the first turn. TOTES (3) - Was heavily bumped from the outside after the start and lost momentum for a short distance. CULVIE DEN (4) - Was crowded and checked from outside going to the first turn and stayed back for the remainder. BIGTIME BUSTER (6) - Shifted in going into the bend and tightened inside runners which were inconvenienced. BIGTIME SIENNA (7) - Shifted in abruptly from the start and bumped another runner which was inconvenienced. BARK MY WORDS (8) - Slow to begin but made up ground well for 2nd place.
Race 3	J P Print, Petone C2 - C2 - 375	The race was all clear.
Race 4	Affordable Pet Accessories C3 - C3 - 375	BUTTERBALL (1) - Was hampered by an injured runner on the home turn and lost ground. BIGTIME TOMAC (2) -Handy to the lead until the home turn where he faltered and drifted to finish last. Was referred to the Vet and was humanely euthanased due to a fractured right hock. EXTRAPOLATE (3) - Slow to begin losing three lengths but recovered to win the race. MIKACHU (6) - Jostled with another runner on the home turn and they both lost momentum. BIGTIME BEV (7) - In contact and jostled with another runner and lost momentum on the home turn. CAWBOURNE ANGUS (8) - Slow to begin and stayed well back throughout.
Race 5	Use Petraveller.com.au C4/5 - C4/5 - 375	BEAR INDA SQUARE (8) - Was slow to begin and stayed well back throughout. SNOOP JUNIOR (9/2) - Was also slow away from the boxes and stayed back throughout.
Race 6	Ionlyflyfirstclass.com C4 - C4 - 375	The race was all clear.
Race 7	Personal Protective Services C0 - C0 - 457	BIGTIME POLLY (1) - Was slow away from the boxes and stayed back throughout the race. BIGTIME NIBBLES (6) - Was checked losing two lengths on the bend and stayed back to finish in last place.
Race 8	Brooks Timing C1 - C1 - 457	BACON MY HEART (2) - Tightened between runners after the start and settled back where he stayed for the remainder of the race and was referred to the Vet as a precaution and cleared of injury. ERASMUS (9/3) - Was handy going to the first turn but faltered and went quickly back through the field and finished several lengths last. Was referred to the Vet and was cleared of injury and is required to complete a satisfactory trial under Rule 38.9 before next racing. However, ERASMUS was presented to the Vet 2 days later at Wanganui races and found to have a gracilis muscle injury requiring 28 days stand down and which was incurred at Palmerston North and as a result, the direction to complete a satisfactory trial has now been rescinded.
Race 9	Outback Trading Company C1 NZ Bred - C1 - 457	CHARLIE BO BO (1) - Clipped the heels of another runner going to the first turn and lost momentum briefly. CAVEMAN SAM (2) - Was bumped and inconvenienced after the start and was then checked from behind going to the first turn and again inconvenienced and lost momentum briefly. BIGTIME BUCKO (4) - Bumped another runner on two occasions after the start and lost momentum briefly.
Race 10	Adrian Clark - Bloodstock Consultant C2 - C2 - 457	BIGTIME BOY (8) - Was slow away from the start losing four lengths and he stayed back throughout the race and finished last.
Race 11	Steve 'The Auctioneer' Davis C2/3 - C2/3 - 457	BIGTIME REDO (8) - Began awkwardly losing ground but recovered well to finish in 3rd place. BIGTIME RANSON (9/5) - Was handily positioned going into the first turn but then eased, went back to last and finished in that position. Was referred to the Vet and found to have an injury requiring 10 days stand down but was stood down for 28 days under Rule 55.1.b for failing to pursue the lure throughout and is required to complete a satisfactory trial before next racing. The Owner/Trainer indicated that it was his intention to retire the bitch from further racing.
Race 12	M&M Master Butchers C4/5 - C4/5 - 457	BIGTIME JASON (2) - Was crowded from the start losing two lengths and he stayed well back throughout. BIGTIME RISE (9/3) - Crowded from the start and got back where she stayed and finished in 2nd last place. BIGTIME PADDY (4) - Shifted in abruptly from the start and hampered two other runners which both lost momentum.
Race 13	Paul Claridge Electrical C1 - C1 - 375	KIWI BAXTER (7) - Was slow away from the boxes losing two lengths and stayed well back. CAWBOURNE OWEN (8) - Also slow away but recovered to finish in 4th place.
Race 14	TAB Supports Greyhounds C1 - C1 - 375	HOMEBUSH TULIP (3) - Was tightened between runners on the bend, lost three lengths and stayed back to finish in 2nd last place. IDOL BILLIE (5) - Was up in weight by 2.0 kilograms from her last start on 29.11.17 and this was intentional.
Race 15	TAB Fixed Odds C1 - C1 - 375	CAWBOURNE MUZZA (6) - Was heavily bumped at the start and settled back. Bumped again on the bend losing further ground and stayed well back for the remainder. BIGTIME PICKIT (7) - Jumped in abruptly from the start and bumped with another runner and settled back. Was in contact again going into the bend losing further ground and stayed back to finish last.
