| Race 1 | Shirley Vet Clinic Sprint - C0 - 295 | This race was delayed by 1 minute at the request of Raceday Control. IDOL EVE (7) was very slow to jump with SMASH FIRE (3) and LOCKY BAXTER (6) also tardy from the traps. CAIRO (4) and LOCKY BAXTER raced wide into the bend. The pacemaking IRIS EYES (2) ran wide on the home turn. |
| Race 2 | Happy Birthday Ray Adcock Dash - C0 - 295 | PIPES OF PEACE (5) was a clear last on jumping. KOPUTARA (6) ran inwards in the early stages coming together with SHAKTI (3). SMASH DEMAND (2) shifted up the track into the bend checking SHAKTI. TODD BLUE BLOOD (7) raced very wide on the turn losing ground. This dog was referred to the vet for assessment with no abnormalities detected. SMASH DEMAND angled inwards in the home straight coming together with KIWI BAXTER (1) and losing momentum. |
| Race 3 | Coalgate Tavern Stakes - C0 - 520 | FORZA (3) was last to jump. OPAWA ASH (6) raced wide throughout when leading. MULBERRY THUNDER (2) received a check on the final bend when racing to the outside of CALL ME SOON (1). MULBERRY THUNDER dropped out to finish last with a post race vet check revealing no injury. |
| Race 4 | Amber Cleaning Services Sprint Heat 1 - C2q - 295 Heat 1 | OPAWA OPAL (6) was last to jump. HELLO BLONDIE (5) angled inwards on the turn tightening OHOKA HOPE (1) which then ran outwards pushing GIGANAIRE (7) wider. STAND UP GIRL (8) was then obliged to check outwards off heels losing momentum. |
| Race 5 | Happy Birthday Jim Smith Stakes - C0 - 520 | SEEKING BAXTER (6) and LOKIE (8) were the last pair on jumping and then came together in the early stages. LOKIE ran very wide into the first bend. SMASH LILLY (1) checked outwards off heels on the first bend and struck the hind quarters of SUCH FUN (3) with both runners becoming unbalanced. SMASH LILLY then stumbled and fell with LOKIE forced to take evasive action. SERGIO DESTROYER (2) angled inwards on the home turn receiving a slight check and placing OPAWA JIMBO (7) and KIM'S MY NAME (4) in restricted room with this trio all losing some momentum. SUCH FUN and SMASH LILLY were both referred to the vet for assessment and cleared of injury. |
| Race 6 | Amber Cleaning Services Sprint Heat 2 - C2q - 295 Heat 2 | ROYAL BASH (5) and HARDEN FASTER (8) were the last pair on jumping. HARDEN FASTER and HOMEBUSH ARIEL (9/1) came together into the bend. WEARS THE GOLD (4) ran wide around the bend. On the home turn HOMEBUSH ARIEL shifted outwards pushing HARDEN FASTER and ROYAL BASH over extra ground. |
| Race 7 | Mac Developments Stakes - C1 - 520 | SHIFT THE BLAME (6) was last to jump. CAPTAIN TUTTLE (4) also settled well back after receiving some tightening. CAPTAIN TUTTLE ran outwards in the run to the first bend pushing SHIFT THE BLAME wider on the track. OPAWA PENNY (1) was tightened into the first bend. CAPTAIN TUTTLE weakened over the concluding stages with a post race veterinary check revealing signs of muscle tie up with a 7 day stand down recommended. Co-Trainer D Fahey was questioned in regards to the performance of CAPTAIN TUTTLE over the concluding stages. He stated that the dog is not a good beginner and as a result is obliged to do a lot of work in a race with this impacting on its ability to finish off a 520m race strongly as evidenced by its last two starts, adding that the dog has cramped up in all races in New Zealand. Mr Fahey further advised that he intends giving CAPTAIN TUTTLE a short freshener and will have blood tests taken in the coming days with these results being notified to Stewards. After hearing from Mr Fahey and considering Stewards own observations, no further action was deemed necessary. |
| Race 8 | Amber Cleaning Services Sprint Heat 3 - C2q - 295 Heat 3 | KNOW CONTEST (4) was last to jump. GORILLA ON DRUMS (5) received a slight check from behind into the bend losing momentum and causing BHUJA (1) to be held up for some strides. In behind ARCHIES DIJON (3) was badly tightened and fell. HOMEBUSH RUFUS (8) angled inwards on the bend causing CAR BOOTLE (2) to check outwards with MARK BE GOOD (6) and ROYAL ACTION (7) to be forced very wide and lose their chances. KNOW CONTEST raced wide around the home turn. GORILLA ON DRUMS and ARCHIES DIJON were both checked and cleared by the vet post race. |
| Race 9 | Fast Archer At Stud Stakes - C1 - 520 | RUN ZOLA (4) ran inwards in the early stages with NEW BROOM (1), HANNAH RHIANNON (2) and ANOTHER CRUISE (3) all tangling and losing ground. SPRING SAM (8) angled inwards into the first bend checking BLACK TRYAX (7) and ALBIE PUNTER (5). A post race veterinary check of HANNAH RHIANNON revealed no abnormality. |
| Race 10 | Amber Cleaning Services Sprint Heat 4 - C2q - 295 Heat 4 | ANOTHER LIZ (7) ran inwards in the early stages checking PLUTONIUM (6) which dropped to the rear. ZORBA THE GREEK (2), TERRA ALERT (3) and OHOKA COBY (5) all came together in the early stages. BRONSON JEWEL (1) and ZORBA THE GREEK bumped for some strides on the home turn when racing in close quarters. |
| Race 11 | Angler's Arms Tavern Stakes - C2 - 520 | TAMARA MAY (9/8) was last to jump. KNOW MENTION (2) was tightened and checked into the first bend losing ground. LAGOON MYTYE (5) and KNOW MENTION both raced very wide in the back straight. |
| Race 12 | Livamol Sprint - C1 - 295 | KATA (6) was last at the jump. FEAR MARINA (8) ran inwards in the back straight making heavy contact with KATA and pushing that runner down the track. HOMEBUSH SHANE (4) received some tightening into the bend. LITTLE COMET (3) ran outwards on the home turn forcing PEP'S TERRA (7) wider on the track. KATA was referred to the vet for assessment with no injury detected. |
