GORDY JUNIOR then collided with JINGA SNAG (4) with GORDY JUNIOR being badly hampered and dropping to the rear. JINGA SNAG and DAVE'S DISASTER both raced wide around the bend. MRS PHYLISS (8) ran wide when leading on the home turn. GORDY JUNIOR, DAVE'S DISASTER and MRS PHYLISS were all checked and cleared by the vet post race. |
| Race 2 | Jane & Len Hart Memorial - C1 - 295 | BIG CATCH (3) was last to jump. HOMEBUSH BRUNO (8) faltered into the bend and dropped to a clear last with this dog being referred to the vet for assessment and found to have a torn gracilis. MISS HARPER (2) angled outwards on the home turn checking IDOL BUTCHER (7) for a stride. |
| Race 3 | Grace Hill Lodge Sprint - C2 - 295 | TOKEN ACE (5) and DEVILSKIN (4) bumped for a stride in the early stages. TIP THE BABE (1) was tightened along the rail into the bend and lost ground. A post race veterinary check revealed no abnormalities. YOU'RE THE BEST (7) raced wide throughout. TOKEN ACE checked outwards off heels on the home turn. Further back TIP THE BABE angled outwards pushing COSMIC CHELSEA (6) wider on the track. |
| Race 4 | Global Edge Properties Stakes - C0 - 520 | MULBERRY THUNDER (4) was a late scratching at kenneling suffering from diarrhoea. SPRING SAM (8) was last to jump. BRONSON JEWEL (2) was checked and turned sideways for a stride in the run to the first bend and lost ground. On the first bend BRONSON JEWEL ran outwards coming together with OPAWA MERC (3) with both runners becoming unbalanced. HOMEBUSH SKIP (9/5) and TRICKY ACTION (6) were both hampered and forced wide in this incident. TRICKY ACTION was held up on the home turn and lost momentum. BRONSON JEWEL was checked and cleared by the vet post race. |
| Race 5 | Wal Walsh Memorial - C1 - 520 | THORACIC (3), HOMEBUSH HANSOME (6) and OPAWA PENNY (8) were the last trio at the jump. HELENA ALLEN (2) was checked from behind into the first bend and lost momentum with CAWBOURNE KENNY (7) pushed wide as a result. THORACIC ran wide into the first bend badly checking OPAWA PENNY and HOMEBUSH HANSOME with this trio losing their chances. HELENA ALLEN was referred to the vet for assessment and no injuries were detected. |
| Race 6 | Gerard Paul Electrical Rakaia Sprint - C3 - 295 | EXTRA CREDIT (1) was slow to jump. Into the bend EXTRA CREDIT checked outwards off the heels of BOTANY ALAN (6) and lost ground. GOLDSTAR BOMBER (4) and MULBERRY BROOK (3) came together and lost ground on the bend. |
| Race 7 | Farewell Carol, Debbie & J.J. Dash - C4 - 295 | The track was upgraded to Good prior to this event. ULTRA ACTION (4) received a slight check in the early stages as COLLECTING MONEY (5) crossed from its outside. GREET THE JUDGE (2) shifted outwards into the bend pushing ANOTHER BELLE (8) wider on the track. ULTRA ACTION ran wide on the home turn. RAND (3) shifted up the track in the run home. |
| Race 8 | Rabbiter's Rest Bistro @ Springston Hotel Stakes - C2 - 520 | MAX STIX (3), OPAWA GRUNTER (6) and HOMEBUSH HOWARD (8) were the last trio on settling. MAX STIX shifted outwards into the first bend pushing HOMEBUSH HOWARD wider on the track. WITH PRIDE (7) lost ground after attempting to improve into a marginal gap at the end of the back straight. MAX STIX ran wide on the home turn. |
| Race 9 | J.H. Cleary "How's It Going" Memorial - C4/5 - 295 | MANDI MAE (9/1) was tightened into the bend losing ground after SPEEDY RETURN (5) and MAUDIE'S BABE (4) angled inwards. MAGIC MIKE (7) angled inwards on the home turn placing AIDEN BAXTER (3) in restricted room. Early in the run home MAUDIE'S BABE checked outwards and made contact with the hind quarters of NORMAN JEWEL (8) losing ground. |
| Race 10 | Christchurch Demolition & Salvage Stakes - C3/4 - 520 | BRISEUR DE REVES (2) and OPAWA VAL (9/6) were both checked into the first bend by DAD'S AMBITION (4) and ALBIE JAY (7) respectively and lost ground and their chances. BREAKING MAD (8) was trapped wide through the middle stages and then received a check when racing to the outside of kennelmate DAD'S AMBITION at the end of the back straight. BRISEUR DE REVES and OPAWA VAL were both referred to the vet for assessment and cleared of injury. Kennel representative J McInerney stated that a drop in class and inside draw were the factors that contributed to the improved performance of the winner ANOTHER MESSAGE (1). He added that the bitch was able to obtain a clear passage with interference in behind her. |
| Race 11 | Garrard's Horse And Hound Ashburton Cup - C5 - 520 | EBERT BALE (5) shifted outwards into the first bend pushing FEKITOA (6) wider on the track. TRUST ISSUES (8) was held up for room in the closing stages. |
