Weather: Raining
Track: Good After persistent rain throughout the latter part of the meeting the track was presented in a very good racing condition being well groomed. All other equipment operated well.
Scales: Correct at all weights
Health and Safety comment: Nil

Judicial report: OPAWA SAM ( Wales/Lane ) completed a satisfactory trial per rule 80.1 and is now cleared to race.

Race 1	Super Pets Sprint - C3 - 295	GUMPS'S THE NAME from box 5 was forced to race wide throughout ,after covering a fair amount of extra ground finished in to 4th placing at the line.
Race 2	Happy Birthday Stephen Hurd Dash - C3 - 295	Racing in to the first bend WALLY BAXTER racing in the body of the field caught heels for a stride going back to the rear and was unable to improve there after finishing several lengths in the rear at the line. WALLY BAXTER was referred to the vet for assessment where no abnormalities were found.
Race 3	Thursday Place Pick Stakes - C3 - 520	racing from the boxes KNOW MENTION, OPAWA MINSTREL and IN THE BOOT came together ,KNOW NEGLET from box 7 angled across the face of IN THE BOOT checking this runner back along with OPWA MINSTREL. OPAWA MINSTREL lost ground back to the rear and appeared to be uncomfortable in his galloping action there after racing towards the rear for the remainder of the race. OPAWA MINSTREL was referred to the vet for assessment and was found to have abrasions to the inside of the near hind a 5 day stand down was recommended.
Race 4	Barron's Supplies South Island Champs Heat 1 - C5q - 520 Heat 1	Racing in to the bend on the first occasion DREAM COLLECTER angled across hampering BRISUER DE REVES who came back off heels causing TRUST ISSUES to check losing momentum and several lengths. .BRISEUR DE REVES ran widest around the bend in to the back straight covering a fair amount of extra ground finishing in the rear at the line.
Race 5	Barron's Supplies South Island Champs Heat 2 - C5q - 520 Heat 2	OPAWA NORRIS box 5 dwelt slightly at the start and was checked coming off the mats as JESSIE SURF box 7 angled across sharply across the face of OPAWA SHACKLEY ( fav ) who was shunted back towards the rear and was bumped and jostled for some distance in the run to the bend on the first occasion. OPAWA NORRIS after being checked early and crossing over heels in to the first bend racing wide made good ground in to 4th placing at the line. OPAWA SHACKLEY after striking trouble in the run to the first bend made good ground to finish in to 3rd placing at the line. DICK THE JERK from box 1 was smartest away and with jostling between runners in behind was able to get away to a clear lead in to the first bend and was never headed there after. ANOTHER MESSAGE was away well in the initial stages, she was checked racing to the bend on the first occasion going back through the field to the rear and was unable to improve there after.
Race 6	Barron's Supplies South Island Champs Heat 3 - C5q - 520 Heat 3	KNOW STYLE was a late scratching pre kennelling to due a seasonal complaint. DYNA VIKKERS( fav ) was slowest in to stride being last in to the bend on the first occasion where he was able to gain a run up along the inner making ground finishing strongly in the run home in to 2nd placing at the line. In the run to the first bend CAWBOURNE PATTY box 2 angled out on to KAVA BLU bumping this runner who pushed back inwards resulting in OPAWA PATTY checking SOUTHERN LIGHTS sideways where he lost 3 or so lengths, OPAWA PATTY went back to the rear , on the outer BOSTON BILLY improving angled inwards sharply severely checking MAJESTIC ACTION who caught heels stumbling slightly going back to last in the running. MAJESTIC ACTION and OPAWA PATTY raced a margin in the rear there after and were both referred to the vet for assessment where no abnormalities were found.
Race 7	Happy Birthday Janine Jopson Sprint - C4 - 295	RAND ( fav ) box 1 dwelt slightly was soon in to stride to race up on the inner of GOLD VIPA in to the first bend where he attempted to push outwards but was held in becoming unbalanced and going back on to BOUND TO ERUPT checking this runner. RAND was jostled going back towards the rear finishing in 7th placing at the line and was referred to the vet as a precaution where no abnormalities were found. Soon after the start BELLA GRACE box 8 angled across on to ROYAL BASH who bumped in to JINJA BILLY causing these runners to lose momentum being last in to the first bend. BELLA GRACE was referred to the vet and was found to have toe injury on the off fore a 28 day stand down was recommended.
Race 8	Kolorful Kanvas Dash - C5 - 295	Racing from the start GET READY FREDDY and HOMEBUSH RIOCKY came together, soon after PUMA PANTS box 2 angled outwards resulting in HOMEBUSH ROCKY catching his hindquarters checking both runners. Racing in to the first bend BURN EARLY and GET READY FREDDY came together , BURN EARLY went back to the rear ,GET READY FREDDY made ground in to 3rd placing at the line.
Race 9	Christchurch Casino New Zealand Stayers Cup Heat 1 - C2dq - 732 Heat 1	GOLDSTAR DALLAS was a late scratching at kennelling after being found to have muscle soreness along the back and a raised temperature. Racing in to the far bend on the first occasion SHANDELL ( fav ) angled in to the field between runners bumping in to LONG STOCKINGS checking this runner for a stride or so. SHANDELL trailed the leader CAN'T CATCH TIM for the majority of the race but was unable to overhaul this runner in the run home. In the rear racing in to this bend HERITAGE WATCH ran inwards bumping in to OPAWA BUCKS EYE with both runners losing ground and were unable to get in to contention there after in a strung out field.
Race 10	Christchurch Casino New Zealand Stayers Cup Heat 2 - C2dq - 732 Heat 2	LAGOON MYTE was a late scratching after an injury was detected prior to loading for the track. UNOVA BALE box 2 was slow away drifting back in the run to the home turn on the first occasion, she never made ground there after finishing well back at the line and was referred to the vet for assessment. ARTIC ACTION was away well in the early stages trailing the leader to the home turn on the first occasion where he went off stride dropping out. ARTIC ACTION was referred to the vet for assessment.
Race 11	christchurchgreyhounds.co.nz Sprint - C5 - 295	SPEEDY RETURN box 4 dwelt being last in to stride by several lengths. As the field raced in to the first bend WHEELCHAIR NORM raced up angling in on to MAUDIE'S BABE forcing this runner in across the face of DREAM LARGE and SOUTHERN BLUE severely tightening and checking these runners. DREAM LARGE and SOUTHERN BLUE lost ground back to the rear and were unable to get back in to contention there after. MAUDIE'S BABE ran wide in to and around the bend in to the home straight having covered a fair amount of extra ground in the running.
Race 12	Protexin Dash - C4 - 295	ULTRA ACTION was hampered racing in to the first bend as FILBERTY JIBERTY crossed to the rail. FILBERTY JIBERTY lost momentum back to the rear then ran wide in to and across the top bend covering a fair amount of extra ground finishing in the rear at the line.
