Track: Good . Following the failure of the starting boxes at the 390m to open at the first pass for Race 10 the club undertook to have the starting boxes thoroughly checked and tested prior to the next race meeting.

Race 1	www.southlandgreyhounds.co.nz - C0 - 390	Shortly after the jump HOMEBUSH BAILEY (6) was dictated inwards by KING SIMBA (7) and lost ground when bumping LIGHT THAW (5). In the run to the turn LIGHT THAW shifted ground inwards checking NEISY'S BABE (3) with resulting tightening of HARLEQUIN PARADE (2) and the trailing SPRING SAM (4). On the turn NEISY'S BABE ran outwards checking LIGHT THAW who ran wide on the turn. Into the straight UNO JASON (1) ran outwards checking SPRING SAM.
Race 2	ADDED ENERGY DASH - C0 - 390	From the jump HOMEBUSH FLAME (8) ran inwards tightening MYA TIME (7). Into the turn RHINEGOLDE (3) shifted ground inwards checking DEMAN BLUE BLOOD (1). On the turn ROOKIE RACER (6) and MYA TIME (7) ran wide on the track.
Race 3	CONGRATULATIONS FORBIDDEN FRUIT - C1 - 457	From the jump HOMEBUSH BUCK (2) ran outwards checking OPAWA BUCKS (3). HOMEBUSH FITZROY (6) ran inwards checking BOTANY ALAN (5) and tightening LAGOON ALLIRA (4). In the run to the turn as the field tightened HOMEBUSH BUCK clipped the rear of CAWBOURNE DALLAS (1) who became unbalanced and lost momentum. Into the turn OPAWA BUCKS shifted ground outwards checking FRECKLE FLYER (7) who ran outwards forcing HOMEBUSH FITZROY wide on the track.
Race 4	GREYHOUNDSASPETS.ORG.NZ - C1 - 390	Shortly after the jump IDOL BILLIE (5) and REGALYN (6) bumped with both dogs losing ground. In the run to the turn SHEZ KEEN (3) ran outwards checking JOHNNYBRUCE (4). Into the turn JOHNNYBRUCE ran inwards checking SHEZ KEEN. On the turn and in the straight REGALYN ran wide.
Race 5	MR WHIPPY SOUTHLAND - C1 - 390	BADUZZI (2) was a late scratching on vet's advice when found with a toe injury on being removed from the kennel block. At the jump CRONOS (8) ran inwards checking RIB CURLER (7) who in turn collided with DEVILSKIN (6) with all three dogs losing ground.
Race 6	SOUTHLAND & OTAGO PHOTO FINISH - C1 - 390	At the jump ANOTHER JAMIE (5) ran inwards and THESEUS (2) shifted ground outwards with ANOTHER SPIN (3) and HIS NIBS (4) both checked and losing ground. Into the turn ANOTHER JAMIE ran inwards checking GLORY HOG (1) with the trailing ANOTHER SPIN held up. Into the turn THESEUS checked outwards off the heels of ANOTHER SPIN and ran wide on the bend and in the straight.
Race 7	HAPPY MOTHERS DAY SPRINT - C2 - 390	Race start time was put back 3 minutes following a false start at the harness race meeting on the same track. CAWBOURNE CRAIG (3) jumped awkwardly and lost several lengths. From the jump ZIRCON (6) ran inwards and dictated HOMEBUSH ERROL (9/5) into HOMEBUSH RILEY (2) who was checked. On the turn THUNDER STORM (7) clipped the rear of AIR EXPRESS (1) who lost ground with a resulting check also to SOUTHERN AFFAIR (4). On the turn HOMEBUSH ERROL was held up for clear racing room behind THUNDER STORM.
Race 8	SGRC $26 FIVE WIRE MUZZLE STAKES - C4/5 - 390	Race start time was put back 5 minutes following a further false start at the harness race meeting on the same track. OPAWA OPAL (9/4) was slow to jump. Shortly after the jump PAUA SHOT (6) ran inwards checking OPAWA OPAL and HARKONEN BALE (3). Into the turn HOMEBUSH ROCKY (1) was tightened when ABRASADOR (2) shifted ground inwards. On the turn PAUA SHOT clipped the heels of ABRASADOR who became unbalanced and collided with HARKONEN BALE with both these dogs losing ground.
Race 9	Colin & Orma Gray Memorial Invercargill Cup - C5f - 457	OPAWA DIESEL (4) jumped awkwardly and lost ground while SOUTHERN LIGHTS (6) was slow to jump. Into the turn DIRK THE JERK (2) brushed the running rail and lost some momentum.
Race 10	justracing.com.au - C2/3 - 390	The starting box lids failed to open on the first pass of the lure. The dogs were removed from the boxes and checked prior to the race restart. The boxes were opened manually for the restart. HOMEBUSH GRU (4) and OPAWA LEAN MEAT (7) were slow to jump in the race. Clearing of payment for the race was held back until the film was reviewed to ensure that the manual opening of the boxes and the length of the lure at the start did not materially prejudice the chances of any starter. Payment was then duly authorised.
