Race 1 | Otago First4 Maiden Sprint - C0 - 310 | SPEEDY BLUEBLOOD (4) was slow to jump and TRICKY ACTION (6) jumped awkwardly losing momentum. From the jump HOMEBUSH FREDA (8) ran inwards checking DEMAN BLUE BLOOD (7). Shortly afterwards SPEEDY BLUEBLOOD ran inwards checking CAITLIN BLUE BLUEBLOOD (2). In the run to the turn HOMEBUSH FREDA shifted ground inwards tightening DEMAN BLUE BLOOD. Into the turn as the field tightened SPEEDY BLUEBLOOD, CAITLIN BLUEBLOOD and OCTAGON'S GHOST all became tightened and lost momentum. On the turn DEMAN BLUE BLOOD ran outwards dictating HOMEBUSH FREDA and TRICKY ACTION wide, with SPEEDY BLUEBLOOD then bumping CAITLIN BLUBLOOD who became unbalanced and lost ground. When spoken to regarding the improved performance of the winner OZARK'S WATCH trainer J.Guthrie advised the greyhound had her first start over the sprint distance a week prior and shown improvement and today's second run over the sprint showed the dog appreciated the drop in distance. |
Race 2 | Speedprint Shop Sprint - C1 - 310 | DEFINITE (4) and CHICAGO BLACK (2) were slow to jump. On the turn UGO FLASH (1) clipped the heels of the leading dog THRILLING SPELL (6) who then ran outwards with the trailing OBEYANCE (3) and LOTS OF BEERSIES (9/8) severely checked and losing ground and the trailing OPAWA LIBBY (7) forced to check outwards and also losing ground. Into the straight THRILLING SPELL ran outwards dictating LOTS OF BEERSIES wide. After the race THRILLING SPELL was subject to a veterinary check which revealed no injury. |
Race 3 | Brocklebanks Dry Cleaners Stakes - C0 - 545 | GOLDSTAR BOOMER (8) was slow to jump. Into the first turn NEISY'S BABE (1) ran outwards dictating OPAWA MERC (6), LIGHT THAW (7) and GOLDSTAR BOOMER wide with these runners losing all chances. |
Race 4 | Green Island Barber Stakes - C1 - 545 | NO TINKERBELL (4) proved difficult to load with trainer J.Guthrie advising the dog the dog had a different handler than usual and this would not recur. From the jump NO TINKERBELL (4) shifted ground outwards checking FRECKLE FLYER (5) and tightening OPAWA LEANNA (6). Into the first turn HERITAGE WATCH (8) crossed and checked OPAWA LEANNA. In the back straight HERITAGE WATCH ran wide. Turning into the home straight and in the run to the line NO TINKERBELL was checked as RHINEGOLDE (1) shifted inwards. |
Race 5 | Brian Bagley Driver Licensing Sprint - C1 - 310 | HIS NIBS (3) and RIB CURLER (6) were slow to jump. From the jump BURSAR (7) shifted ground inwards tightening RIB CURLER. |
Race 6 | Keyosk Service Bar Sprint - C2 - 310 | THORACIC (JT McInerney) weighed in at 3.7kg over his last race start weight with the greyhound not having started for 3 months and the kennel representative advising this was a planned increase in weight. At the jump ZIRCON (3) shifted ground inwards checking WHAT I LIKE (2). Into the turn THORACIC (4) ran inwards checking WHAT I LIKE. After the race WHAT I LIKE was subject to a veterinary check which revealed no abnormalities. |
Race 7 | www.greyhoundsaspets.org.nz - C1/2 - 545 | LA KINKS (6) was slow to jump. Shortly after the jump IDOL LEANNE (5) ran outwards checking LA KINKS and OPAWA ALEX (7) with WILLIS (8) also tightened. Into the first turn KNOW WORTH (2) ran outwards clipping LA KINKS who became unbalanced and lost ground and checking the trailing WILLIS. In the back and home straights KNOW WORTH ran wide. |
Race 8 | Nina's Girl Stakes - C3 - 545 | At the jump CAN'T CATCH TIM (6) ran inwards checking ZIPPING SONNY (5). Throughout the race OPAWA BUCKS EYE (7) ran wide. |
Race 9 | Dave Robbie Photographer Sprint - C3 - 310 | MR. MARINE (2) scrambled out of the boxes and lost ground early. From the jump MUST DESIRE (4) ran inwards checking OPAWA ROCKET (3) with THUNDER STORM (1) also held up. On the turn THUNDER STORM clipped the rear of SUBTERFUGE (5) who became unbalanced and brushed the running rail before losing ground. |
Race 10 | Racing Again Tuesday 31st May - C4 - 310 | OPAWA CRUSADE (5) was slow to jump. In the run to the turn ANOTHER FORTUNE (2) ran outwards dictating GOLDSTAR CHUMLEE (4) wide. In the home straight ANOTHER FORTUNE ran wide. |
