Race 1 Otago First 4 Maiden Sprint - C0 - 310 WILLY BE BEST (1) was slow and MACHINE MAN (4) was tightened between OCTAGON'S GHOST (9/5) and GRANDE ACTION (3) at the jump. Into the turn IDOL STAR (8) was clipped from behind by WILLY BE BEST and became unbalanced losing momentum. WILLY BE BEST then shifted ground outwards turning GRANDE ACTION sideways into the path of DEMAN BLUE BLOOD (7) with the trailing MACHINE MAN severely checked. As a result WILLY BE BEST, MACHINE MAN and DEMAN BLUE BLOOD all fell and GRANDE ACTION was badly checked losing all chance. WILLY BE BEST, MACHINE MAN and DEMAN BLUE BLOOD all regained their feet to finish the race a distance behind the field, with these runners subject to a post race veterinary check which revealed the only injury being some bruising and a cut to the left fore leg of GRANDE ACTION with a 7 day stand down recommended.
Race 2 Brocklebanks Dry Cleaners Sprint - C0 - 310 SUCH FUN (4) was slow to jump. In the run to the turn UNO JASON (5) ran inwards and dictated ROOKIE RACER (2) down with ROOKIE RACER then becoming unbalanced and striking the running rail and losing all chance. A post race veterinary check of ROOKIE RACER revealed a sore left shoulder and bruising with a 5 day stand down recommended.
Race 3 Speedprint Shop Sprint - C1 - 310 From the jump DEFINITE (5) was tightened between RIB CURLER (4) and IDOL BILLIE (6). Into the turn DEFINITE was held up for clear racing room as ANOTHER CRUISE (7) crossed.
Race 4 Keyosk Service Bar Stakes - C1/2 - 545 OPAWA PEACHES (2) bounded at the jump losing momentum and then was dictated down when LA KINKS (3) shifted ground downwards. Into the first turn OPAWA ALEX (6) ran outwards checking MAJESTIC ACTION (8). On the first turn KNOW CHEERS (4) ran outwards dictating OPAWA ALEX wide and LA KINKS checked outwards off the heels of KNOW NEGLECT (7). At the end of the back straight an improving MAJESTIC ACTION was held up by BIRCHBROOK (1) and brushed the running rail losing momentum. In the straight HERITAGE WATCH (5) and OPAWA ALEX (6) ran wide.
Race 5 Brian Bagley Driver Licensing Sprint - C1/2 - 310 BURN EARLY (3) scrambled at the start losing some momentum. In the run to the turn BURN EARLY shifted ground inwards tightening ANOTHER VESPA (2) with ROYAL ACTION (1) also held up. Into the turn ANOTHER VESPA and ROYAL ACTION bumped with ROYAL ACTION checking outwards and colliding with THUNDER STORM (8). As a result ROYAL ACTION became unbalanced and lost ground.
Race 6 Green Island Barber Sprint - C1 - 310 Shortly after the jump THRILLING SPELL (5) shifted ground inwards and dictated OPAWA LIBBY (4) in with a resulting tightening of HIS NIBS (3). In the run to the turn SHEZ KEEN (1) ran outwards checking LOTS OF BEERSIES (2) and HELLO BLONDIE (6) ran inwards tightening OPAW LIBBY. Into the turn ROB'S MATE (7) ran inwards with LOTS OF BEERSIES forced to check outwards. On the turn THRILLING SPELL checked off the rear of ROB'S MATE and lost ground with the trailing ANOTHER JAMIE (8) also held up. Into the straight ANOTHER JAMIE clipped the heels of SHEZ KEEN with both these dogs losing momentum.
Race 7 Dave Robbie Photographer Sprint - C1/2 - 310 APOLLO KING (5) was slow to jump. From the jump TOKEN ACE (7) and ZIRCON (8) bumped with both losing momentum, and DEBORAH BAY (3) and APOLLO KING then collided heavily with MITCHELL DEAN (4) severely checked. Into the turn HOMEBUSH RILEY (6) was tightened and lost some ground as CHICAGO BLACK (2) ran outwards.
Race 8 Nina's Girl Stakes - C3 - 545 At the jump LEKTRA CONCORD (6) shifted ground outwards checking IDOL LEANNE (7). On the first bend and in the straights OPAWA VAL (5) ran wide. At the end of the back straight OPAWA GUMISIE (2) shifted inwards checking OPAWA ROCKY (8).
Race 9 Otago Pet Foods Sprint - C3/4 - 310 MR. MARINE (2) was slow to jump. In the straight HOMEBUSH ARIEL (6) ran wide off the heels of HOMEBUSH PAIGE (7) and OPAWA CRUSADE (8).
Race 10 Racing Again Tuesday 17th May - C3 - 310 ALEX RUMBLE (4) was slow to jump and then tightened as GOLDSTAR BOMBER (5) shifted ground inwards. In the run to the turn HOMEBUSH RUFUS (2) ran outwards and ANOTHER BELLE (6) ran inwards checking OPAWA LEAN MEAT (3). Into the turn ANOTHER BELLE was tightened as OPAWA LEAN MEAT shifted outwards and the trailing KNOW THANKS (1) was checked and became unbalanced holding up GOLDSTAR BOMBER. On the turn KNOW CONTEST (7) ran wide when checking off the heels of WUNZEE (8). A post race veterinary check of KNOW CONTEST showed a cut on the webbing of the left hind foot with a 10 day stand down recommended.
