Track: Good The 390 metre starting boxes malfunctioned at the start of Race 11 and failed to open at the first pass of the lure. This resulted in the remaining race being manually started.
Scales: Correct at all weights.
Health and Safety comment:

Judicial report: Race 11 was declared a No-Race pursuant to Rule 76.1 due to the excessive time the greyhounds were positioned in the starting boxes.

Race 1	SOUTHLAND GREYHOUNDS WELCOME - C0 - 390	UNO JASON (6) ran inwards through the early stages colliding with IDOL BUTCHER (5). UNO JASON was then crowded entering the bend between IDOL BUTCHER and OCTAGON'S GHOST (8), both of which shifted ground. ROOKIE RACER (3) angled outwards across in the early stages of the straight, losing momentum. Handler B Bourke advised that UNO JASON proved difficult to box, with the dogs boxing manners to be monitored by Stewards in future.
Race 2	SGRC $26 FIVE WIRE MUZZLE STAKES - C1 - 390	FRECKLE FLYER (3) was crowded entering the bend between SMOKING MARLEY (1) and IDOL STAR (4) which was forced inwards by the improving KING CAESAR (5). Hampered as a consequence was ANOTHER SPIN (7) which had to check briefly when awkwardly placed near the heels of FRECKLE FLYER. IDOL STAR shifted outwards into the bend contacting the heel of KING CAESAR which lost its footing momentarily. IDOL STAR and FRECKLE FLYER came together and bumped upon entering the home straight.
Race 3	ASCOT PARK CONSORTIUM - C1 - 390	OPAWA LIBBY (5) ran inwards from the boxes crowding STAR APACHE (4) onto ANOTHER VESPA (3) and OPAWA EXPRESS (2), both of which lost ground. HARLEQUIN PARADE (8) ran inwards abruptly approaching the bend forcing HIS NIBS (7) into the line of HOMEBUSH BUCK (6) and ALBIE MCLEOD (1) which were both severely crowded. HOMEBUSH BUCK checked outwards across heels soon after forcing OPAWA LIBBY wider on the track. OPAWA EXPRESS had to check rounding the bend when improving up onto the heels of ALBIE MCLEOD. HOMEBUSH BUCK and ANOTHER VESPA came together and bumped over the concluding stages.
Race 4	CONGRATULATIONS SCARY CANARY - C1 - 390	RIB CURLER (6) was slow to jump. THESEUS (5) and SOUTHERN AFFAIR (7) collided on jumping. LOTS OF BEERSIES (4) ran inwards abruptly in the early stages hampering DEVILSKIN (3), NO TINKERBELL (2) and HOMEBUSH FLAME (1) which had to check when becoming awkwardly placed adjacent to the running line. THESEUS ran wide entering the wide pushing BRINDEE'S BRO (9/8) and RIB CURLER wider.
Race 5	GREYHOUNDSASPETS.ORG.NZ - C0 - 457	OPAWA RICHIE (7) was last to leave the boxes. HELENA ALLEN (8) ran inwards soon after the start hampering HILTON CUST (6) which lost ground. MYA TIME (1) and AMINO TROUBLE (3) came together and bumped on several occasions in the early stages. HELENA ALLEN was crowded approaching the bend between MISCHIEF MANAGED (4) and OPAWA RICHIE which ran inwards, with HELENA ALLEN clipping a heel soon after and falling to the track. HILTON CUST was briefly inconvenienced by the fallen runner. HELENA ALLEN regained its footing and finished at the lure, with a subsequent veterinary examination revealing no obvious abnormalities. OPAWA RICHIE was unbalanced prior to entering the home straight when contacted by MISCHIEF MANAGED which was forced outwards marginally by the improving AMINO TROUBLE.
Race 6	MR WHIPPY SOUTHLAND - C1 - 457	OPAWA LEANNA (3) was last to jump. ODIN SLAYER (4) and RHINEGOLDE (6) raced in restricted room through the early stages, with ODIN SLAYER checking outwards abruptly entering the bend when awkwardly near the heels of OBEYANCE (7).
Race 7	Racing Series Graduation Heats - NZRSq - 457 Heat 1	OPAWA NORRIS (4) was buffeted through the initial stages between WEARS THE GOLD (3) and JINJA HEART (5), both of which shifted ground. OPAWA NORRIS then ran outwards abruptly pushing JINJA HEART wider on the track. WEARS THE GOLD had to check across heels approaching the bend when in restricted room to the inside of HOMEBUSH FITZROY (6). WEARS THE GOLD and JINJA HEART collided soon after, with both runners becoming unbalanced.
Race 8	www.southlandgreyhounds.co.nz - C4/5 - 390	ABRASADOR (3) ran inwards approaching the bend forcing JEMIMA TEE (2) into the line of BORN TO BOOM (1) which made heavy contact with the running line, with both runners losing several lengths. ABRASADOR was checked soon after when MAGIC MIKE (5) ran inwards. JEMIMA TEE was crowded briefly entering the home straight when inside WUNZEE (6). BORN TO BOOM underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed pain in the right-hind calf muscle.
Race 9	Racing Series Graduation Heats - NZRSq - 457 Heat 2	KNOW NEGLECT (3) began awkwardly losing ground. NINA BAXTER (1) raced in restricted room approaching the bend when adjacent to the running line and to the inside of KNOW NEGLECT which ran inwards marginally. MAX STIX (4) checked outwards across heels racing into the bend inconveniencing OPAWA OPAL (5). BRISEUR DE REVES (6) was obliged to race wide throughout the event.
Race 10	ADDED ENERGY DASH - C3 - 390	VINNY VINDALOO (2) ran outwards from the boxes colliding with MR. MARINE (3). HUMAN INSTINCT (9/1) and VINNY VINDALOO were crowded for a distance entering the bend when inside THUNDER STORM (6) which was forced down the track by CAWBOURNE SARAH (8). OPAWA IDOL (7) was inconvenienced as a consequence when trailing. THUNDER STORM ran inwards soon after crowding HUMAN INSTINCT which made contact with the running line. HUMAN INSTINCT was examined by the Veterinarian following the event and cleared of injury. MR. MARINE contacted the hindquarters of CAWBOUNE SARAH into the bend, resulting in CAWBOURNE SARAH being unbalanced. VINNY VINDALOO underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed pain in the right wrist.
Race 11	SOUTHLAND & OTAGO PHOTO FINISH - C4/5 - 390	A false start was declared after the starting boxes at the 390 metres malfunctioned and in consequence failed to open on the first pass of the lure. All greyhounds were unloaded from the back of their respective boxes and underwent veterinary examinations which cleared them fit to race. The starting boxes were tested and found to be operating without mechanical failure. Due to the false start, Trainer J Dunn requested that his starter DIRK THE JERK be declared a late scratching. Stewards acceded to the request of Mr Dunn acting under Rule 38.3 (l). Due to a communication error with the TAB, DIRK THE JERK was not withdrawn from the event prior to the greyhounds being placed in the boxes for the re-start. This resulted in a delay to the running of this event whilst the greyhounds remained in the boxes. Stewards viewed video coverage of the event following its conclusion and due to the excessive time the greyhounds were positioned in the starting boxes the race was declared a No-Race pursuant to Rule 76.1. Stewards opened and adjourned an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding BLACK CROW being unloaded from its box prior to the re-start.
Race 12	justracing.com.au - C2 - 390	The start of this race was deferred to 3:52pm at the request of TAB Control. PUKEKO BOLT (8) was slow to jump. DEBORAH BAY (1) ran outwards from the boxes hampering THRILLING SHRIMP (2) and PUKEKO WARRIOR (3). THRILLING SHRIMP was crowded approaching the bend between DEBORAH BAY and PUKEKO WARRIOR which ran inwards.
