Race 1 COMMITTE SPRINT C0 - C0 - 305 NITEHAWK ROSE, CHIEF BAXTER and WINE O'CLOCK were slow to begin losing three lengths. NITEHAWK ROSE quickly made up ground but galloped on the back of ANOTHER RANGER going into the bend and they both lost ground with ANOTHER RANGER losing several lengths and all chance. NITEHAWK ROSE recovered very well to make up ground and finished in 2nd place. KHAL DRAGO galloped on the back of SWIRLING EDDIE going into the bend and they were both unbalanced and lost ground.
Race 2 ELTHAM VET SERVICES C1 - C1 - 305 CAWBOURNE EDEN and DENALI began awkwardly losing a length. ANOTHER PLANE shifted out soon after the start and forced SEDGEBROOK CHARM onto DENALI which was hampered. MAGIC DANDY shifted in when going to the lead and hampered SO UNBELIEVABLE which was briefly unbalanced and changed ground.
Race 3 EMPIRE HOTEL STRATFORD C1 - C1 - 520 MC LOVIN and OPAWA GAVIN were the slowest away from the boxes and they settled at the rear. CAWBOURNE OHIO and FOX IN BOX shared the lead going to the back straight but FOX IN BOX appeared to become unbalanced and went back onto SILVER TOKAAM and they lost five lengths and they stayed back to finish in the rear group.
Race 4 RACING @ HATRICK ON WEDNESDAY C1 - C1 - 305 OLLIE BOY, HOMEBUSH LIMBO and DREAMZONE shared the lead into the bend but brushed together when OLLIE BOY drifted a little wide and DREAMZONE and HOMEBUSH LIMBO lost three lengths. OPAWA TOMMO which was following, had to check over the back of DREAMZONE and they were both unbalanced losing ground but OPAWA TOMMO recovered well to make up ground to finish in 2nd place. BUNDORAN LASS was uncomfortable following the race and was referred to the Vet for assessment and found to have pain and lameness in a foreleg.
Race 5 RAYMOND BUCKLAND RECYCLING C1 - C1 - 305 CONSUMATE EASE began awkwardly losing his footing behind and lost several lengths and all chance. SPIRITELLO went off stride going to the first corner and was observed to have a very awkward galloping action and finished a distance behind the other runners. She was referred to the Vet for assessment and found to have a leg injury. LACHIE JEWEL who was having his first start on the track, ran wide into the bend and forced VENGA GUAPA wide over extra ground.
Race 6 PAK N SAVE HAWERA C1/2 - C1/2 - 520 All clear.
Race 7 UNITED TRAVEL ELTHAM C4/5 - C4/5 - 305 General crowding a short distance after the start resulted in jostling to CAWBOURNE STEVE, SEDGEBROOK BABE, WILD EFFECTIVE and SUBIC BAY and this continued for some distance and eventually resulted in the affected runners settling at the rear where they stayed for the remainder of the race. CAWBOURNE STEVE was pushed into the rail during the incident and was referred to the Vet for assessment and found to have lacerations to a tricep muscle and a stifle.
Race 8 South Taranaki Club Taranaki Cup C5 - C5 - 520 CAWBOURNE KRISTY was the slowest away from the start and she then made contact with the hindquarters of KISSING GWYNETH going to the first corner and they settled at the rear and stayed back throughout the race.
Race 9 GRAEME HOLSWICH MEMORIAL C2/3 - C2/3 - 305 GRADER JACK which had not started for 2 months was down in weight by 2.7 kilograms and this was an intentional decrease. EBERT BALE shifted out going into the bend and pushed BOSTON LIGHTNING a little wide over extra ground.
Race 10 CAROLS TAB C2 - C2 - 305 INDEFINITE ORDER which had not started for 2 months was down in weight by 2.7 kilograms and this was an intentional decrease. ALAMEIN DUKE began awkwardly losing two lengths and settled back. KNOCKA FEW BACK brushed with GULLY FLAHERTY as he moved past on the outside going into the bend and GULLY FLAHERTY was unbalanced and went back to the rear and never recovered. KINETIC ASSASIN went off stride on the bend, shifted out to be wide on the track and finished in last place. She was referred to the Vet for assessment and cleared of injury.
