Weather: Fine
Track: Good Refer to Judicial section re Scales. The track was presented in good order and the meeting proceeded smoothly.
Scales: Checked and correct
Health and Safety comment: Nil

Judicial report: The weighing of the Greyhounds was dispensed with early in the weighing process due to the scales proving to be inaccurate with one dog showing 4 different weights when weighed on 4 separate occasions. The Club will have the scales thoroughly checked prior to the next meeting. FLYING BLAKE which was the winner of race 8 was nominated as a swab dog. However when an attempt was made to remove the dog from the swab kennel to enable the process to be completed, FLYING BLAKE became very aggressive and was not able to be removed from the kennel. Sometime after the last race, with the aid of a long pole and a rope, the dog was captured and removed from the kennel but was still extremely aggressive when approached and in the interests of health and safety, the swabbing process was cancelled. As this is the 2nd recent occasion where FLYING BLAKES aggressive nature has proved unacceptable ( he was recently late scratched when unable to be removed from a vehicle for kennelling ), the Stewards will be recommending that the dog be barred from racing. However, the Trainer has indicated that she will be recommending to the Owners that FLYING BLAKE be retired as a racing proposition.

Race 1	Formpro Ratings Free Every Monday C0 - C0 - 375	The start was delayed by 4 minutes when the box lids failed to open and the dogs were removed from the boxes, checked by the Vet and cleared and the lure was run around to check the lids opening. The starter was of the opinion that the lids catches may not have been caught correctly which resulted in the malfunction. SCOOTER'S ROSE which drifted to the rear mid race and finished last was distressed when pulling up at the lure and was referred to the vet for assessment. SCOOTERS ROSE was found to be suffering from hyperthermia.
Race 2	Greyhounds As Pets C1 - C1 - 375	This race started 3 minutes late due to the hold up in the previous. CAWBOURNE PAWS was slow to begin losing three lengths. UNO SHAY shifted in from the start and hampered NO MORE MARMITE which lost a length. A short distance further on, CAWBOURNE MARTIN shifted in abruptly and hampered UNO SHAY which was inconvenienced briefly.
Race 3	J P Print, Petone C1 - C1 - 375	All clear.
Race 4	Buck Fever At Stud C1 - C1 - 457	OLLIESAURUS and BLACKIE CHAN began awkwardly and lost two lengths.
Race 5	Manawatu Harness Racing 4th & 7th February C1 - C1 - 375	TAKEAWAY shifted in soon after the start and hampered MANGAMAHU JACK and PREMIER PRINCE and they lost ground. MEAT DAMON and CLEARLY MAGIC shared the lead going into the bend bumped bumped together and lost four lengths. MEAT DAMON recovered well and despite bumping with ANOTHER CHARM on the home turn, he kept up a strong run to win narrowly.
Race 6	Just Defy That Memorial C3 - C3 - 375	CAWBOURNE DANIAL was slow to begin losing three lengths but made up ground well and finished in 3rd place. NIKKA CENTURY shifted in going into the bend and inconvenienced ANOTHER MISS, CHOCDEE ALICE, VINNIE BAXTER and WHEELIE CHILLIE for a short distance.
Race 7	Shakey Jakey At Rocky Ridge C3 - C3 - 457	HEART YOU and TO THE BANK collided going into the bend and they both became unbalanced briefly and stayed back to finish near the rear. HOMEBUSH SPOOK drifted to the rear early in the contest and he stayed back to finish several lengths last and was referred to the Vet for assessment. He was found to have a torn tensor fascia lata muscle.
Race 8	Personal Protective Services C2 - C2 - 375	LEGAL AID collided with the hind quarters of CAWBOURNE GABLE entering the home straight and they were both unbalanced and finished in the last two places. CAWBOURNE GABLE was referred to the Vet at the Trainers request and found to have lacerations to a hind leg. THRILLING TOBY was checked going into the bend and went back onto LEGAL AID which lost ground.
Race 9	Outback Trading Company C2 - C2 - 457	One of the favourites OUR GYPSY received an interrupted run during the middle stages and was shuffled back through the field and finished in 6th place.
Race 10	Restricted Age Sprint - R/A - 375	BRILLIANT ASHLEE, KAPUTSKI and HAWKESBURY FEVER dwelt at the start losing four lengths. HAWKESBURY FEVER and KAPUTSKI recovered well to finish in 2nd and 3rd places.
Race 11	wheeldeal.co.nz C4/5 - C4/5 - 375	TAKAMORI shifted in and hampered WHEELIE GOOD going into the bend which resulted in that runner shifting out and forcing FREEDOM FLYER and LAGOON MAC wide and all three lost several lengths and all chance. TAKAMORI checked over the back of ALLEGRO CLASS on the home turn and shifted out hampering NERO which was forced wide. SWEET AS BRO began well and won the race and the Trainers representative from the L.Ahern kennels was questioned regarding the bitches improved performance after finishing 6th on 22.01.16. Handler Georgia Cole stated that she felt that SWEET AS BRO had a slightly interrupted run at its previous start and that the kennel had been expecting an improvement today.
Race 12	Preston's Master Butchers C4/5 - C4/5 - 457	CAWBOURNE CROUCH checked over the heels of SMASH ALLEGRO going into the bend and went back onto ALLMENDINGER and they lost three lengths. COSMIC SCRAMBLE raced wide covering extra ground on the bend and finished in last place.
