Judicial report: (1) ARCANE RAMPAGE was having his first start for new trainer C.Roberts. The registration papers had been mailed from the North Island and had not turned up in time for the meeting. A copy of the registration was obtained from NZGRA in order to identify the greyhound and under the circumstances a warning only under Rule 68.8 was issued. (2) DOOSH (JT McInerney) and GRAYSON BLUE (JT McInerney) are required to complete box trials in accordance with Rule 72.13 after turning in the starting boxes.

Race 1	www.southlandgreyhounds.co.nz - C0 - 390	DOOSH turned in the boxes and lost several lengths at the start, taking no competitive part in the race, and in accordance with Rule 72.13 the greyhound is required to complete a Satisfactory Box Trial before starting again. In the run to the turn ANOTHER CASINO shifted ground downwards from the No. 5 box tightening KRISTA BARISTA on his inner and checking the trailing HIS NIBS. Into the turn MAX STIX shifted ground outwards checking KRISTA BARISTA. On the turn OPAWA BLAIR ran wide.
Race 2	WELCOME TO THE NEW YEAR - C1 - 390	CAWBOURNE HINT jumped awkwardly and lost momentum while APOLLO KING was tightened after the jump when PADDY THE BAKER ran inwards from the No. 6 box. In the run to the turn OPAWA LEIGH shifted ground downwards tightening BADUZZI. Into the turn JOHHNYBRUCE, BADUZZI and PADDY THE BAKER all bumped losing pace with the trailing ANOTHER VESPA forced to check off heels. On the turn BADUZZI ran outwards dictating PADDY THE BAKER wide with the trailing ANOTHER VESPA clipping the heels of PADDY THE BAKER and losing ground. In the straight APOLLO KING ran wide.
Race 3	WHO WON THE TIPPING COMP? - C1 - 390	From the jump THUNDER DRAGON ran outwards from the No. 5 box checking REGALYN on his outer and also tightening GLENN IS GOODESY. On the turn APOLLO BAXTER shifted ground outwards dictating THUNDER DRAGON and GLENN IS GOODESY wide on the track. HOMEBUSH SPIKE was tightened in the run to the turn by OPAWA VIV and then into the straight forced to check off the heels of OPAWA VIV bumping BURSAR.
Race 4	ADDED ENERGY - C0 - 457	From the jump MAJESTIC ACTION shifted ground inwards from the No. 7 box tightening ROOKIE RACER on his inner and dictating that runner inwards, while OPAWA LIBBY ran inwards from the No. 5 box checking FRECKLE FLYER and OCTAGONS GHOST. Into the turn FRECKLE FLYER and OCTAGONS GHOST bumped with both dogs losing momentum. On the turn REALITY was held up when MAJESTIC ACTION shifted ground outwards.
Race 5	SOUTHLAND & OTAGO PHOTO FINISH - C2 - 390	Shortly after the jump HOMEBUSH BRUNO shifted inwards from the No. 5 box and bumped HOMEBUSH RILEY who became unbalanced and lost momentum briefly. In the run to the turn JOYNER KERSEE ran inwards tightening HOMEBUSH BRUNO. Into the turn NO MORE BEERSIES struck the hindquarters of SKETCHY STEVE and was turned sideways losing ground and all chance. On the turn HOMEBUSH BRUNO checked outwards off the heels of PATCHWORK ALICE and pushed ANOTHER JAMIE and NO MORE BEERSIES wide whilst JOYNER KERSEE was also forced to check off the heels of NO BRO losing ground.
Race 6	HOLIDAY TIME SPRINT - C1 - 390	From the jump SUBTERFUGE shifted ground inwards from the No. 4 box tightening ADRENALIN KICK on her inner. Shortly after EBONY FANCY ran sharply inwards from the No. 7 box checking ADRENALIN KICK. In the run to the turn SUBTERFUGE was tightened between ANOTHER RUSS and ARCANE RAMPAGE. Into the turn PROTONIC PEDRO clipped the rear of STORMING NORM and bounded losing ground, and ADRENALIN KICK lost ground when tightened by SUBTERFUGE. On the turn EBONY FANCY fell when clipping the rear of PROTONIC PEDRO and the trailing ADRENALIN KICK also fell when colliding with PROTONIC PEDRO. Both dogs recovered to finish the race well back in the field and were subject to veterinary checks after the race which revealed no injuries.
Race 7	SGRC $50 LEATHER LEADS - C2/3 - 457	OPAWA STELLA was a late scratching when removed from the kennels prior to the start of the race when found with a puncture wound. In the run to the turn MISS VALLEY INN and LAGOON BELLE bumped losing momentum. On the turn LAGOON TWIST shifted ground outwards checking MISS VALLEY INN.
Race 8	ASCOT PARK CONSORTIUM - C1 - 390	GRAYSON BLUE turned in the boxes and lost several lengths at the start, taking no competitive part in the race, and in accordance with Rule 72.13 the greyhound is required to complete a Satisfactory Box Trial before starting again. Shortly after the jump CRYSTALL MCBELL, ANOTHER SPIN and SCARY CANARY all came together heavily and lost ground.
Race 9	OTATARA SPRINT - C1 - 390	From the jump ANOTHER KEY and TILT were tightened when BUSINESS BOSS ran inwards from the No. 6 box and HOMEBUSH MESSI ran outwards from the No. 3 box. Shortly afterwards TILT clipped the heels of CRYSTAL FLAME with both dogs again bumping and losing ground into the turn when TILT ran outwards. SAILORS COLLAR ran wide throughout the race.
Race 10	greyhoundsaspets.org.nz - C1 - 457	CAWBOURNE KIN jumped awkwardly and lost ground. In the run to the turn CAWBOURNE KIN shifted ground outwards dictating CAWBOURNE EDEN wide. On the turn LAGOON MYRTLE ran wide.
Race 11	SGRC $26 FIVE WIRE MUZZLES - C1/2 - 457	From the jump NINA BAXTER ran sharply inwards from the No. 6 box colliding with FEKITOA and checking ZIPPING SONNY with both these dogs losing ground. On the turn was badly checked off the heels of SHINES BRIGHT and lost momentum. A post race veterinary check of FEKITOA revealed no injury.
Race 12	justracing.com.au - C4 - 390	HOMEBUSH ROCKY (JT McInerney) was a late scratching at kennelling with a right brisket injury. Shortly after the jump MOJO BURST ran inwards from the No. 8 box checking TELL THE BOYS on his inside and dictating LOTS OF BEERSIE downwards into the path of WUNZEE who lost ground. Into the turn UNO BRENT was tightened between HUMAN INSTINCT and AIR EXPRESS with the trailing WUNZEE held up.
Race 13	RACING AGAIN 26TH JANUARY - C3 - 390	At the jump HOMEBUSH ERROL shifted inwards from the No. 8 box checking TECHNIC. In the run to the turn WRINKLES appeared to tie up and took the bend awkwardly losing ground to finish a long last. A post race veterinary check of WRINKLES revealed the dog had a torn left gracilus muscle with a 28 day stand down recommended.
