Health and Safety comment: Due to the extremely warm weather dogs were monitored by the on-course Veterinarian race by race regarding the welfare of racing in such hot conditions.Also, the Club's policy regarding handler's wearing of Ties and Scarves was relaxed.

RACE 5 - ZULU DEB - [Rule 79.1.b] Stood down 28 days and must trial on 1 occasion prior to resuming.

Race 1 | Super Pets Dash - C0 - 295 | ROYAL BASH (5) and SOME EXCITMENT (6) were both slow to jump. ULTRA ACTION (3) was extremely slow to jump. Racing into the bend HYDE BAXTER (8) was turned outwards and lost ground after placing ANOTHER CASINO (4) and COSMOHOLIC (2) in restricted room with this causing and inconvenience to ROYAL BASH. HYDE BAXTER was cleared of injury post-race. |
Race 2 | Christchurch Casino Sprint - C0 - 295 | MAX STIX (4) lost momentum when squeezed between WOW MADONNA (2) and ELLA BAXTER (7) entering the bend. WOW MADONNA was then slightly inconvenienced when racing to the inside of ELLA BAXTER rounding the bend. |
Race 3 | christchurchgreyhounds.co.nz Stakes - C0 - 520 | AL'S ROADIE (9/1) and REALITY (6) were marginally slow to jump. OPAWA O'GRADY (3) and JINJA SQUEAK (4) came together shortly after the start. |
Race 4 | Happy Birthday Robyn Herbert Dash - C0 - 295 | PRINCELY MONEY (7) was slow to jump. PACIFIC VIBE (10/5) and ABIT SCARLET (2) crowded the racing room of HOMEBUSH JOHNNY (4) and WHERES CANDY (3) respectively through the early stages. PACIFIC VIBE and ESTER ACTION (6) came together after the start and jostled for a short distance. |
Race 5 | Active Electrical Christchurch Sprint - C1 - 295 | ZULU DEB (3) and IDOL GEORGIE (5) came together briefly after the start. ZULU DEB eased and lost ground quickly racing into the bend, A post-race veterinary check revealed no injury. After viewing all available films Stewards were satisfied that ZULU DEB had breached Rule 79.1.b in that she had failed to pursue the lure at this stage of the race and as a consequence was stood down from all totalisator events for a period of 28 days and must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on 1 occasion. |
Race 6 | Merry Christmas Stakes - C1 - 520 | CAWBOURNE KIN (8) was slow to jump. OPAWA SMOKE (4) came outwards at the start and impeded the racing line of JINJA ROMAN (5) and THORACIC (6). Racing round the final bend OPAWA SMOKE came down the track and was dragged down by TAMARA MAY (1) with this in turn causing both OPAWA SMOKE and JINJA ROMAN (5) to fall to the track and inconveniencing THORACIC and LEKTRA SPIDER (7). Subsequent post-race veterinary checks on OPAWA SMOKE and JINJA ROMAN revealed no injury. |
Race 7 | Red Baron Dash - C1 - 295 | TRACEY (7) came inwards abruptly after the start and bumped TIP THE BABE (3). Racing into the bend ANOTHER VESPA (2) had to check off the heels of FOXY BABE (1) with this causing an inconvenience to CONALOO (8). CONALOO was further inconvenienced after TIP THE BABE had to check off the heels of ANOTHER VESPA racing round the bend. |
Race 8 | Snoopy's Christmas Stakes - C1 - 520 | RAEWYN (1) raced wide down the back straight. OPAWA JAY JAY (5) was held up for racing room rounding the final bend and through the early stages of the run home. |
Race 9 | Shirley Vet Clinic Sprint - C1 - 295 | TERRA ALERT (7) eased racing into the bend with a subsequent veterinary examination revealing the dog to have sustained an injury to it's right stifle and groin resulting in a 21 day stand down. SMASH EASY (2) tired rounding the bend before being obliged to check off the heels of RAPAKI KATH (6). SMASH EASY was subjected to a post-race veterinary check and cleared of injury after getting under the rail at the lure. |
Race 10 | Dave Robbie Photographer Dash - C1 - 295 | ARCHIES DIJON (8) came inwards shortly after the start impeding the running line of OUT BACK BILL (7) and as a consequence got its racing rug caught in the muzzle of OUT BACK BILL for a short distance inconveniencing both runners. Racing into the bend OUT BACK BILL was then placed in restricted room by ARCHIES DIJON and had to check. |
Race 11 | Jingle Bell Stakes - C1 - 520 | FILANTE (8) was slow to begin. OPAWA COOKIE (3) and NICKY NOIR (4) jostled through the early stages.OPAWA COOKIE then ran wide into the first bend forcing NICKY NOIR and OPAWA TRACEY (7) up the track. |
Race 12 | Livamol Sprint - C1 - 295 | JACKPOT JAKE (3) and STENSON (4) came together shortly after the start. Racing into the bend LUCAS SCOTT (2) was placed in restricted room and had to check with this causing an inconvenience to JAKEPOT JAKE, SAM'S FLYIN NORM (6) and STENSON (4) who all lost momentum. |
