Weather: Fine
Track: Fast .The starting boxes failed to open in Race 8 with greyhounds removed safely from the boxes and the starting boxes tripped manually for the re-start. All races from the 390m mark were started manually for the remainder of the meeting. The fault was traced to an electric tripping mechanism failure with repairs to be effected prior to the next race meeting.

Health and Safety comment:

Judicial report: LAGOON MAY (C Roberts) is required to complete a Satisfactory Trial under Rule 80.1 with Stewards deeming the greyhound's racing performance as unsatisfactory. The greyhound was subsequently presented on 3rd December to the vet for checking in the presence of Stewards and found to have a torn triceps muscle with a 21 day stand down recommended. The requirement to complete a Satisfactory Trial was rescinded accordingly.

From the jump STORMING NORM ran inwards from the No. 6 box dictating HIS NIBS inwards, tightening CAWBOURNE EDEN and then colliding with PACIFIC VIBE who lost momentum. The trailing JON SNOW LIVES was held up and forced to check outwards off ANOTHER RANGER into the turn. On the turn HIS NIBS shifted ground inwards checking CAWBOURNE EDEN. Also on the turn CAIRNELLA ran outwards dictating STEEL THE GOLD wide. Into the straight JON SNOW LIVES checked off the heels of STEEL THE GOLD and lost ground.
Race 2 ASCOT PARK CONSORTIUM - C0 - 390 DEVILSKIN ran inwards from the No. 5 box checking SUPER BAD and TAMARA MAY on his inner. From the jump LIGHT THAW was tightened between KING CAEASAR and SUPER BAD losing momentum. Into the turn KING CAESAR shifted ground inwards checking SUPER BAD and TAMARA MAY. On the turn KING CAESAR stumbled briefly and lost ground, and SUPER BAD ran wide.
Race 3 SOUTHLAND & OTAGO PHOTO FINISH - C1 - 390 WALLY BAXTER was slow to jump. At the jump OPAWA TOMMO and TILT bumped losing momentum. As the field tightened into the turn MEGA SURGE, TILT, OPAWA TOMMO and WALLY BAXTER were all checked with SUBTERFUGE forced to run outwards off the heels of GLORY HOG.
Race 4 BRENDON BURKE @ RAY WHITE - C1 - 390 From the jump ANOTHER JAMIE ran inwards from the No. 7 box dictating THUNDER DRAGON downwards checking LICK IT UP and APOLLO KING. In the back straight APOLLO KING and SAILORS COLLAR ran wide. Into the turn APOLLO KING clipped the rear of SAILORS COLLAR and ran wide, with both dogs running wide in the straight. After the race SAILORS COLLAR was referred to the vet for assessment with a 14 day stand down recommended due to SAILORS COLLAR suffering a swollen toe.
Race 5 BLUFF STAKES - C1 - 390 DEBORAH BAY, MOON AND SEA, ANOTHER SPIN and STENSON all made contact over the early stages with ANOTHER SPIN losing ground. MOON AND SEA checked off the heels of STENSON on the bend. Shortly afterwards MILLIE'S BOY become awkwardly placed on the heels of STENSON and lost ground.
Race 6 CONGRATULATIONS THE COLONEL - C3 - 390 ANOTHER MESSAGE was slow to jump. Into the turn HOMEBUSH RILEY shifted ground inwards with NEW THANG forced to check off heels and the trailing OPAWA LEAN MEAT also checked.
Race 7 GREYHOUNDSASPETS.ORG.NZ - C0 - 457 FRECKLE FLYER was slow to jump. Into the turn FRECKLE FLYER ran inwards tightening PIANISSIMO and checking the trailing MYA TIME with all three runners losing ground. In the straight PIANISSIMO ran wide.
Race 8 INVERCARGILL DASH - C2 - 390 The boxes failed to activate in the initial attempt at a start. All dogs were removed from the boxes prior to the restart. The second attempt was activated by a manual start. OPAWA CRUSADE was slow to begin. ANOTHER BELLE checked off heels just prior to the bend. INCREASING, SKETCHY STEVE and OPAWA EXPRESS all made contact on the bend. OPAWA EXPRESS was forced to race wide on the bend as a result.
Race 9 IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY KRISTY - C1/2 - 457 There was a delay to the start of this race due to the malfunction with the boxes in the previous race. GLENN IS GOODESY jumped awkwardly and lost ground at the start. OPAWA KEVIN and NINA BAXTER made contact over the early stages. LAGOON MYTYE, SHINES BRIGHT and UNO BRENT all bumped in the run to the bend. LAGOON BELLE ran onto the heels of ABRASADOR over the final stages losing its momentum.
Race 10 ADDED ENERGY - C3 - 390 At the jump ZIPPING SONNY from the No. 4 box was checked between THRILLING MARTY and BOTANY LIZ. Shortly after the jump BOTANY LIZ ran inwards checking THRILLING MARTY, and then in the run to the turn BOTANY LIZ continued to shift ground inwards checking JINJA PISTOL and also checking GOSSIP QUEEN. On the turn ZIPPING SONNY checked outwards off the heels of THRILLING MARTY with the trailing HELLO BLONDIE checked.
Race 11 CONGRATS TONI GOLD MEDAL VEGAS - C1 - 457 HOMEBUSH ERROL ran outwards in the run to the bend forcing TAMASKA onto MAGIC MIKE. TAMASKA checked off the back of THRILLING HUNT just prior to the bend. HOMEBUSH ERROL struck the hind quarters of OPAWA BINGE on the bend with OPAWA BINGE losing its momentum and then racing wide on the bend.
Race 12 justracing.com.au - C4 - 390 OPAWA IDOL was slow to jump. Into the turn MY FIRST LITTER ran outwards checking OPAWA IDOL and BAD WEEK, with the trailing HOMEBUSH SLINKY also held up.
Race 13 UNLUCKY FOR SOME - C1/2 - 457 At the jump CRYSTAL FLAME shifted inwards from the No. 8 box checking IDOL LEANNE on her inside. THRILLING SHRIMP ran sharply inwards from the No. 6 box clipping the rear of HOMEBUSH BUCK and checking LAGOON MAY. In the run to the turn HERITAGE WATCH checked outwards off the heels of LAGOON MAY and became unbalanced when colliding with THRILLING SHRIMP. Into the turn WHAT I LIKE ran outwards checking LAGOON MAY and then on the turn IDOL LEANNE ran inwards checking LAGOON MAY who lost ground and tailed off to finish a long last. After the race a vet check of LAGOON MAY revealed no injury. Stewards considered the performance of LAGOON MAY to be unsatisfactory taking into account the checks during the race, with the greyhound required to complete a Satisfactory Trial before competing further. This was subsequently rescinded (see Judicial above).
Race 14 ORETI BEACH SPRINT - C4/5 - 390 MOJO BURST was slow to jump. On the turn MOJO BURST checked outwards off SMASH RUMOUR dictating AIR EXPRESS wide and into the straight IMPERSONATOR checked off the rear of SMASH RUMOUR.
Race 15 RACING AGAIN 15TH DECEMBER - C4/5 - 457 ROADWORKS was slow to jump. BREAKING MAD stumbled on jumping and lost momentum checking WILLIS. In the run to the turn BOUND TO ERUPT ran inwards colliding heavily with CALINDA GIRL with the trailing BLACK CROW also checked. Into the turn ROADWORKS ran outwards dictating WILLIS wide.
