Judicial report: 1) An autopsy on RUSTY KNIFE, which collapsed and died at Addington last Friday, revealed that the dog had died of a heart attack. 2) DR. BRM (A Turnwald) has completed 10 clear runs since its last stand down with that endorsement being cancelled under Rule 79.7. 3) ECKLES (J Dunn) was stood down for 28 days under Rule 79.1.b. for failing to pursue the lure in Race 6. Mr Dunn notified Stewards of his intention to have the decision reviewed and as a result the dog will be drawn in the field for the Final of the Galaxy Sprint. 4) Following Race 8 an objection was lodged questioning as to whether the race should have been declared void. After hearing submissions from all parties this objection was dismissed by Stewards. As a result the rest of the programme was delayed by one race. 5) Handler B Evans admitted a breach of Rule 87.1.o. in that she acted negligently when failing to remove the collar when boxing GOLDSTAR CHUMLEE in Race 8. This matter has been referred to the JCA for further consideration. Stewards spoke with Starter J Smith in relation to this incident and after considering his submissions Stewards were satisfied that in the circumstances his actions were not unreasonable and took the matter no further.

Race 1	Christchurch Casino NZ Cup Semi-Final 1 - C5q - 520 Heat 1	GOLDSTAR JUNIOR (9) and KNOW VALUE (8) were the last pair on jumping. BORN TO BOOM (2) shifted outwards off heels into the first bend pushing SPUD MISSILE (4) and LOCHINVAR IMPACT (6) wider. MYSTIC ACTION (5) was placed in restricted room in this incident and lost ground. KNOW VALUE raced wide around the first bend. On the home turn CAWBOURNE CROUCH was forced wider on the track as BORN TO BOOM improved to its inside.
Race 2	Christchurch Casino NZ Cup Semi-Final 2 - C5q - 520 Heat 2	JEWEL ACTION (7) was very slow from the traps. ANOTHER LIZ (2) and MELHAM (3) collided in the initial stages. Wider out CHIPPA LATA (8) ran inwards making contact with KNOW LAPSE (6). KNOW LAPSE shifted up the track into the first bend checking CHIPPA LATA. OPAWA DIESEL (1) and ANOTHER LIZ came together into the first bend with ANOTHER LIZ being forced wide for a few strides. KNOW LAPSE raced wide around the first bend.
Race 3	Christchurch Casino NZ Cup Semi-Final 3 - C5q - 520 Heat 3	WILLIS (4) was a late scratching at 9.50am when found to have a sprained toe. BENJAMIN BLACK (8) was a clear last on jumping. HOMEBUSH HOWARD (3) shifted outwards in the run to the first bend making brief contact with ARCTIC ACTION (6) and OPAWA SHACKLEY (7). On the first bend UNTRACEABLE (1) checked outwards off the heels of HOMEBUSH HOWARD and into the path of OPAWA SHACKLEY with this pair losing ground. KNOW MENTION (5) was badly tightened and fell at the entrance to the back straight after being tightened between ARCTIC ACTION and OPAWA SHACKLEY which had run inwards when recovering from its check. SKUZI (2) raced wide on the home turn. UNTRACEABLE and KNOW MENTION were both checked and cleared by the vet post race.
Race 4	Christchurch Casino NZ Cup Semi-Final 4 - C5q - 520 Heat 4	KNOW DECISION (6) was tightened in the initial stages. BOSTON HEART (5) and GOLD CLASS (3) collided in the early stages. BOSTON BILLY (1) shifted marginally outwards on the first bend pushing TRUST ISSUES (8) a touch wider. KNOW DECISION and GOLD CLASS both raced wide around the first bend. DREAM COLLECTOR (2) checked outwards off TRUST ISSUES on that bend pushing BOSTON HEART and KNOW DECISION wider. DREAM COLLECTOR was held up for a few strides on the home turn when improving losing some momentum. GOLD CLASS hit the rail at the lure. DREAM COLLECTOR and GOLD CLASS were both referred to the vet for assessment with GOLD CLASS found to have a laceration requiring sutures.
Race 5	Super Pets Galaxy Semi-Final 1 - C5q - 295 Heat 1	TEE KAY YAPPER (4) was last to jump. WUNZEE (9) angled inwards in the back straight contacting kennelmate HOMEBUSH ROCKY (5) for a stride. GET READY FREDDY (2) was tightened into the bend.
Race 6	Super Pets Galaxy Semi-Final 2 - C5q - 295 Heat 2	BUMP (1) was very slow to jump. ALLEGRO CLASS (4) was checked in the back straight and lost ground. STARBURST TERRY (8) faltered into the bend and dropped right away with a post race veterinary check revealing a torn gracilis. On the bend KERAMUS (2) angled outwards pushing ALLEGRO CLASS wider. In the home straight ECKLES (6) eased and turned its head outwards. A post race veterinary check of ECKLES revealed no injury. ECKLES was stood down for 28 days under Rule 79.1.b as a result of not pursuing the lure in the home straight. The dog is also required to complete a satisfactory trial before resuming. Note that this stand down was rescinded after a review by the JCA on 5 November with this Review decision subsequently overturned by appeal on 23 November..
Race 7	Super Pets Galaxy Semi-Final 3 - C5q - 295 Heat 3	ABOUT TOWN (2) and DR. BRM (6) were the last pair on jumping. On the bend AIDEN BAXTER (3) shifted outwards pushing DR. BRM over extra ground.
Race 8	Super Pets Galaxy Semi-Final 4 - C5q - 295 Heat 4	REPLAY (5) was last to jump. JAMAICAN ARCHIE (2) was tightened and pushed into the rail into the bend. JAMAICAN ARCHIE then ran outwards into the path of REPLAY which fell. MOJO BURST (6) and POPSOME TAGS (7) came together on the home turn. JAMAICAN ARCHIE raced wide on the home turn. JAMAICAN ARCHIE and REPLAY were both checked and cleared by the vet post race. A proposed swab on the winner YEBOAH (4) was abandoned due to a communication error which had allowed the dog to be handled by people at the dais. Following this race an objection was lodged under Rule 90.1.b. citing that by reason of a breach of a Rule the race should be declared void. The reason for the objection was that GOLDSTAR CHUMLEE, which had drawn Box 1, was removed from the boxes after it was discovered that its collar had been left on when originally boxed. After hearing submissions from all handlers involved in the race together with the starter, Stewards deemed that there was insufficient evidence to show that any dog's chances were materially prejudiced and therefore payment of dividends was approved.
Race 9	I Pave Concrete Stakes - C2 - 520	This and all following races were put back by 20 minutes due to the protest in the previous event. HOMEBUSH ERROL (8) was slow to jump. At the end of the back straight OPAWA GUMISIE (5) ran inwards checking THRILLING LUKE (7) with this runner losing ground. OPAWA ZENA (1) was tightened on the home bend and lost ground.
Race 10	Garden City Chem-Dry Sprint - C2 - 295	EL GRAND SHADOW (1), WILL EXCITE (2) and KNOW SALUTE (8) were the last trio at the jump. HOMEBUSH RILEY (4) received tightening into the bend and lost ground. WILL EXCITE checked outwards off the heels of HOMEBUSH RILEY on the home turn. MANDI MAE (6) shifted up the track on the home turn pushing OPAWA LEAN MEAT (5) wider.
Race 11	Mac Developments Sprint - C3 - 295	SPRINKLES (1) was last to jump. BUTTERBEAN (4) was jostled between runners in the back straight when racing in restricted room. MUST DESIRE (7) was pushed wide around the bend losing ground.
Race 12	Livamol Dash - C2 - 295	ROYAL ACTION (3) and HELLO BLONDIE (8) were the last pair at the jump. VAN GERWIN (2) ran outwards on the bend pushing SLEEPER AGENT (7) and PEYTON SAWYER (5) wider on the track. STRUGGLE IS REAL (1), ROYAL ACTION and PEYTON SAWYER all ran wide in the home straight. Following the race ROYAL ACTION was found to have a mildly sprained hock.
