Race 1 Super Pets Sprint - C3 - 295 AIR EXPRESS (6) and KNOW FAVOURS (9) came together on several occasions throughout the early stages with KNOW FAVOURS losing momentum in consequence. On the bend VOREDA (7) shifted inwards easing DREAM LARGE (4) down the track onto ILABB (3) with both runners being checked and losing ground. OM NOM NOM (1), which was trailing these dogs at the time, was also checked in this incident and had to shift outwards off heels losing its chance. AIR EXPRESS shifted wider on the final bend causing VAN GERWIN (8) to be taken over extra ground.
Race 2 DogZone Dash - C3 - 295 GLENN IS GOODESY (2) was slow to begin. JINJA LUCA (7) shifted inwards leaving the back straight forcing ADROIT (6) to race in restricted room with that dog losing ground when having to ease. JINJA LUCA then continued to shift inwards on the bend applying pressure to HOMEBUSH BRUNO (3) and ANOTHER FAN (1) with both dogs being hampered. ADROIT and GLENN IS GOODESY made contact on the bend with ADROIT being bumped outwards. HERSHY PIE (5) was held up on the final bend and shifted outwards off the heels of BO'S BUSINESS (8) to improve. HERSHY PIE continued to shift outwards in the home straight inconveniencing ADROIT. Subsequent to this race the track was downgraded to dead.
Race 3 Thursday Place Pick Sprint - C3 - 295 EYREWELL HAWKE (6) and EXPECT DELAY (7) jostled over the early stages. EYREWELL HAWKE shifted outwards on the final bend and bumped with ONLY GOT TIME (2) who was turned inwards. When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of BOTANY WIN (1) trainers representative J McInerney Jnr explained that due to the track becoming affected by the considerable rain his dog had been unsuited to drawing box one and struggled in the conditions over the early stages.
Race 4 I Pave Concrete Sprint - C5 - 295 ABOUT TOWN (4) and DIZZY STATE (5) were buffeted in the early stages between MOJO BURST (3) and AIDEN BAXTER (6) which both shifted ground. ABOUT TOWN was then further hampered between MOJO BURST and DIZZY STATE in the early stages. DIZZY STATE shifted down the track racing towards the bend and contacted MOJO BURST who was taken inwards towards the rail. BLACK CROW (7) shifted inwards racing into the bend causing DIZZY STATE and then MOJO BURST to be placed in very tight quarters and be checked losing their chance. Soon after DIZZY STATE was further checked when placed awkwardly between the heels of MOJO BURST and BLACK CROW having to shift outwards abruptly.
Race 5 Power Farming Canterbury Stakes - C2 - 520 KNOW VALUE (5) and DIRK THE JERK (8) were both slightly slow to begin. OPAWA GRUNTER (3) was held up on the final bend. Racing towards the 295m JEWEL APACHE (1) had to check outwards of the heels of OPAWA GRUNTER and then again off the heels of OPAWA BORN (7) in the back straight. MISS VALLEY INN (2) and OPAWA GRUNTER bumped on several occasions entering the final straight. OPAWA BORN was held up throughout the final straight. Stewards spoke to Trainer C Roberts in regards to the performance of CAWBOURNE MIAMI (4) which was outpaced in the middle stages and ran last. He stated that the bitch had settled much better this week and was being prepared for Staying Heats which had not eventuated this due to a lack of nominations. Mr Roberts added that he was not disappointed with the run given that next week's race is over 732m and he expected CAWBOURNE MIAMI to be much more competitive in that race. Stewards noted the comments.
Race 6 Sozin's Comet Stakes - C3 - 520 KIRKHAM JACK (7) was crowded in the early stages between WILLIS (6) and CAWBOURNE WAR (8) who shifted ground. CHIPPA LATA (4) shifted inwards in the early stages and checked VERNON BALE (3) who lost ground. CHIPPA LATA continued to move inwards towards the rail and in doing so placed PLUTONIUM (2) and then KNOW LAPSE (1) in confined quarters with both dogs being squeezed out of their runs. As a consequence of this incident PLUTONIUM then shifted outwards taking KIRKHAM JACK, CAWBOURNE WAR, VERNON BALE and WILLIS wider on the track. On the final bend WILLIS shifted inwards and caused PLUTONIUM to be poorly placed near the heels of VERNON BALE resulting in PLUTONIUM being checked. WILLIS then continued it's move in and had to ease when improving onto the heels of KNOW LAPSE. WILLIS and VERNON BALE bumped on several occasions leaving the final bend with WILLIS being turned inwards. WILLIS ran wide in the straight forcing CAWBOURNE WAR over extra ground.
Race 7 The Turf Bar Stakes - C2 - 520 BOSTON BILLY (6) was slightly slow to begin. STITCH UP (4) shifted inwards nearing the first bend and checked KNOW SMIGGLE (3) who lost ground. LAGOON TWIST (5) was then inconvenienced when KINLOCH POWER shifted inwards. Soon after this KNOW SMIGGLE shifted outwards to avoid heels and made contact with LAGOON TWIST who again was hampered.
Race 8 Christchurch Casino Stakes - C4/5 - 520 JESSIE SURFS (5) was slow to begin. KNOW ATTEMPT (3) shifted outwards in the early stages and contacted JESSIE SURFS who was checked and lost ground. DREAM COLLECTOR (2) was positioned awkwardly between the heels of OPAWA STRETCH (4) and JEWEL EAGLE (8) racing into the first bend and when shifting outwards inconvenienced the improving CAWBOURNE KENNY (7) who was taken wider. Nearing the 295m JEWEL EAGLE shifted inwards and bumped with OPAWA MICHELLE (1) who was buffeted against OPAWA STRETCH and lost ground. Leaving the back straight JESSIE SURFS moved down the track and tightened OPAWA MICHELLE and KNOW ATTEMPT with both runners being checked. KNOW ATTEMPT shifted outwards on the bend and bumped CAWBOURNE KENNY who became unbalanced for several strides.
Race 9 C.T.V. Sprint - C4 - 295 KNOW CONTEST (2) was slow to begin. On the bend BLONDE TORI (4) was checked and lost ground when placed between ZIPPING JYE (3) and THUNDER STORM (8) which were shifting ground. In consequence to this the trailing GRAND APACHE (5) and ROADWORKS (7) were held up and had to ease outwards. Leaving the bend THUNDER STORM was crowded between BLONDE TORI and GET READY FREDDY (6) who both shifted ground. THUNDER STORM was then further inconvenienced when GET READY FREDDY moved inwards in the home straight.
Race 10 christchurchgreyhounds.co.nz Dash - C5 - 295 IMPERSONATOR (8) and LITTLE REGUS (5) bumped in the early stages. GORILLA ON DRUMS (1) was checked and lost ground racing into the bend by SMASH THAT (3) which had been taken inwards by TOKEN ACE (6). RODRIGUEZ (7) shifted inwards on the bend applying pressure to PUMA PANTS (2) who lost ground after bumping with IMPERSONATOR. When questioned regarding the improved performance of the winner TOKEN ACE, trainer J Rush explained that the dog had not jumped well at its previous two runs at Forbury Park and as a result it was decided to have a stir up prior to tonight's run which appeared to help it begin quicker. Mr Rush confirmed that the dog would continue to be stirred up in its immediate engagements.
Race 11 Lochinvar Marlow Waterloo Cup Heat - C5 - 520 KNOW MENTION (8) was slow to begin. BOTANY KEVIN (4), DYNA VIKKERS (5), HOMEBUSH KELSO (6), UGO FLASH (3), TINA (2) and OPAWA ROSIE (1) were all checked in the early stages when HOMEBUSH CHOPPER (7) shifted ground abruptly in the early stages. HOMEBUSH KELSO improved towards the rail near the first bend and in doing so checked UGO FLASH who was taken inwards onto TINA who was also checked. TINA which checked outwards then bumped and interfered with DYNA VIKKERS who was taken outwards onto KNOW MENTION who was attempting to improve wide. HOMEBUSH KELSO continued with its inwards movement on the bend and bumped on several occasions with OPAWA ROSIE which lost ground. Leaving the back straight OPAWA ROSIE received a bump from DYNA VIKKERS who improved swiftly to its inside and then shifted outwards. TINA was sent for a Veterinary examination which showed no apparent abnormality. When questioned regarding the improved performance of HOMEBUSH CHOPPER, trainers representative J McInerney Jnr explained the dog traditionally raced at its best when able to find the front and had been able to take advantage of several competitors being checked tonight.
