Health and Safety comment: Handler V Martin was treated by St. John's personnel after being knocked over at the conclusion of Race 7 when unable to avoid a dog. Ms Martin was found to have no apparent injuries but was badly shaken and stood down from handling for the rest of the day.

Race 1	christchurchgreyhounds.co.nz Sprint - C1 - 295	kATIE ATE IT (2) was last on settling. DEFINER (7) ran inwards checking PETRA HAKA (6) in the early stages. DEFINER ran wide into the bend. MEMPHIS GIRL (4) ran wide in the home straight.
Race 2	Coalgate Tavern Stakes - C1 - 520	TIMELY REMINDER (4) was a late scratching after vomiting and found to be running a high temperature on being retrieved from the kennels. JINJA PISTOL (5) was last to jump. GLORY HOG (2) lost ground in the early stages. LUMINARY (7) ran inwards into the first bend causing OPAWA ROCKY (6) to run out of room and fall. LUMINARY was dragged down and lost ground in this incident with INFERNAL MAJESTY (8) forced very wide. In behind OPAWA GAVIN (1) angled outwards for a stride with GLORY HOG being checked. LUMINARY shifted up the track in the run home pushing INFERNAL MAJESTY wider. OPAWA ROCKY regained his paws and completed the race with a post race vet check revealing no abnormalities.
Race 3	Dogzone Dash - C1 - 295	EUG THE SCROOGE (6) was last on jumping. HARKONEN BALE (8) crossed inwards into the bend causing tightening to KNOW FAULT (5), LA FONTAINE (4) and FOXY BABE (2). RANGITATA RAIDER (3) was forced to race wide around these runners. RANGITATA RAIDER then checked off the heels of EUG THE SCROOGE on the home turn and continued to race wide thereafter.
Race 4	Hampden Tavern Sprint - C1 - 295	HARDEN FASTER (8) and CAPTAIN SHAZZ (2) were last to jump. SACAJAWEA (6) shifted wider in the back straight checking HARDEN FASTER. CAWBOURNE CLOCK (4) was badly tightened into the bend and lost ground. HARDEN FASTER then galloped on the hind quarters of CAWBOURNE CLOCK which fell with HARDEN FASTER receiving a terminal check. CAPTAIN SHAZZ ran wide around that bend. On the home turn HAYLEY JAMES (5) ran outwards pushing CAPTAIN SHAZZ wider. MIDNIGHT SPRITE (10) ran wide on the home turn. CAWBOURNE CLOCK and HARDEN FASTER were both cleared after being checked by the vet post race.
Race 5	Dave Robbie Photographer Stakes - C1 - 520	OPAWA LARRY (10) was very slow to jump. KNOW ENERGY (1) and NINA BAXTER (7) also settled well back. KNOW ENERGY ran outwards into the first bend tightening CHILL OUT RALPH (5). NINA BAXTER and OPAWA LARRY came together on the first bend. OPAWA TOMMO (6) and KNOW ENERGY both raced wide around the first bend. On the home turn OPAWA TOMMO ran inwards checking ANOTHER BELLE (4) which switched to the outside pushing KNOW ENERGY wider on the track.
Race 6	Shirley Vet Clinic Dash - C1 - 295	HOORAY FOR HAZEL (5) was last to jump. STENSON (2) and PIECE (6) both settled back in the early stages. In the back straight BHUJA (4) ran inwards tightening MORNING GYPSY (3) and VERBATIM (1) with this pair losing ground. VERBATIM raced wide in the home straight.
Race 7	Hurunui Hotel Sprint - C1 - 295	MARTY MCMOTH (4) and LUCAS SCOTT (7) were the last pair on jumping. UNO JAMES (6), LUCAS SCOTT and BLAZING HOT (8) all raced wide around the home turn and down the straight. The handler of HOMEBUSH ZIPPY (2) was knocked over by a dog after this event and was attended to by St. John's personnel.
Race 8	Clarkson Sign Studio Stakes - C1 - 520	OPAWA GUMISIE (8) was a clear last on jumping. KNOW CHEERS (6) ran inwards in the early stages causing JINJA JAFFA (4) and HOMEBUSH CORAL (3) to be shifted down the track. TATUM BAXTER (5) was checked in the run to the first bend and lost ground. TATUM BAXTER checked off the heels of OPAWA GUMISIE on the first bend and dropped to a clear last. KNOW CHEERS and OPAWA AMY (1) both raced wide around the home turn.
Race 9	Super Pets Sprint Final - C1f - 295	TELL THE BOYS (7) was a late scratching at kenneling when found to have some wrist soreness. OUR JOHN (1) was a clear last at the jump. HOMEBUSH RUFUS (3) ran inwards on dispatch hampering BADUZZI (2) for a stride. HOMEBUSH RUFUS then ran outwards in the back straight shifting HUMAN INSTINCT (5) up the track. Into the bend SHOWROOM (8) angled inwards causing tightening to HUMAN INSTINCT, JINJA BILLY (9) and HOMEBUSH FLYTE (4) with this trio losing ground. BADUZZI ran wide on the home turn.
Race 10	Carol's T.A.B. Dash - C1 - 295	TAYLA'S FRIEND (1) was a late scratching at kenneling when found to be in season. OPAWA RABBIT (9) was awkwardly away and took no competitive part in the race. This bitch was referred to the vet for assessment and found to have severe abdominal bruising with the veterinarian deeming this to be a serious injury and a 21 day stand down being imposed. Stewards will follow up the recovery of OPAWA RABBIT later in the week. CANDYBOY (4) angled outwards into the bend checking SUMMER LOVE (5) and forcing MR. NOVEMBER (6) outwards which in turn caused MUST DESIRE (8) to be shifted very wide on the track with this pair losing a lot of ground.
Race 11	Little Brown Jug Stakes - C1 - 520	LA KINKS (3) was very slow to jump. AVONDALE AL (5) and KNOW SCHOLAR (6) both received extensive tightening in the run to the first bend and lost ground after OPAWA CRUSADE (8) had shifted down the track. PINDARI (9) was also inconvenienced in this incident. On the first bend IDOL LEANNE (1) ran outwards coming together with OPAWA CRUSADE. IDOL LEANNE received a check at the entrance to the back straight when racing to the outside of LA KINKS which was improving to its inside. PINDARI checked outwards off OPAWA CRUSADE at this stage pushing AVONDALE AL and KNOW SCHOLAR over extra ground. KNOW SCHOLAR ran wide in the home straight.
Race 12	Snow-e Muscle, Energy & Fertility Sprint - C1 - 295	TULIP MUNCHER (5), CULVIE GODFATHER (10) and PEYTON SAWYER (6) all came together in the early stages. PEYTON SAWYER was checked into the bend after BIGTIME TIP (7) ran inwards. TULIP MUNCHER checked outwards off the heels of TERRA ALERT (8) on the turn pushing BIGTIME TIP wider on the track.
