Judicial report: (1) Race start times for the meeting were put back one race to allow time for the track to be prepared following minus 5 temperatures overnight and freezing of the track surface. (2) CRYSTAL FLAME (M Grant) is required to complete a Satisfactory Trial under Rule 72.13 after turning in the boxes and taking no competitive part in Race 3. (3) Trainer J Dunn was issued with a warning under Rule 71.1.c when TIMELY REMINDER had the incorrect rug on in Race 8 immediately leaving the kennel block after stir ups. The mistake was recognised quickly and rectified prior to the dog being paraded, and Club Stewards were also warned and reminded of their obligations.

Race 1	WELCOME TO THE NEW SEASON - C0 - 390	ANOTHER WAY jumped awkwardly and lost ground early, while CHIEF BAXTER was slow to jump. In the run to the turn SHANE MCBELL ran inwards checking NO TINKERBELL. Throughout the race APOLLO KING ran wide on the track.
Race 2	ASCOT PARK HOTEL - C1 - 390	COOL DEXTER was slow to jump and JIMMY HAMMER jumped awkwardly losing ground. From the jump ANOTHER JAMIE ran inwards checking COOL DEXTER. Into the turn STENSON shifted ground downwards tightening RANGITATA RAIDER who was checked by REGALYN and then clipped from behind by MOON AND SEA. On the bend TULIP MUNCHER shifted ground inwards forcing REGALYN to check outwards and dictating RANGITATA RAIDER and ANOTHER JAMIE wide. REGALYN briefly stumbled and lost ground. In the home straight MOON AND SEA ran wide.
Race 3	SGRC TIPPING COMPETITION - C0 - 390	WHERES CANDY was slow to jump. CRYSTAL FLAME turned round in the starting boxes and took no competitive part in the race. Trainer M Grant was advised that the greyhound must complete a box trial before it can start in a race. On the turn PRINCELY COUNT shifted ground inwards checking ROBBIE MCBELL who in turn checked JAMES MCBELL and CLOUDY NOIR.
Race 4	SGRC $50 LEATHER LEADS - C1 - 390	From the jump THRILLING SHRIMP shifted ground inwards tightening GOING PRONTO. On the turn DIRK THE JERK and GOING PRONTO ran wide.
Race 5	BRENDON BURKE @ RAY WHITE - C1 - 457	From the jump ABRASADOR crossed from the No. 6 box and HERITAGE WATCH shifted outwards from the No. 1 box with all runners in between tightened, and HIP HOP SOFIA was forced to check outwards off the heels of ABRASADOR checking FILANTE. Into the turn HERITAGE WATCH and HIP HOP SOFIA jostled and then into the turn FILANTE ran inwards checking the both HERITAGE WATCH and HIP HOP SOFIA. On the turn HERITAGE WATCH ran wide.
Race 6	SGRC $26 FIVE WIRE MUZZLE STAKES - C1 - 390	GLENN IS GOODESY jumped awkwardly. from the jump SAILORS COLLAR shifted ground outwards from the No. 5 box tightening ANOTHER JEWEL, BORN TO BOOM and GONE ROGUE on his outer. Into the turn BORN TO BOOM ran inwards checking BIG JOHN CANON and the further checked BIG JOHN CANON on the turn when running out.
Race 7	www.southlandgreyhounds.co.nz - C3 - 457	ANOTHER LIZ shifted inwards at the jump bumping ANOTHER FAN. ANOTHER LIZ and ALBIE MCLEOD made contact on the bend.
Race 8	SOUTHLAND & OTAGO PHOTO FINISH - C0 - 457	After the dogs had been taken to the stir up area and prior to live coverage TIMELY REMINDER was observed with the incorrect rug when leaving the kennel block to join the field and this was quickly remedied by trainer J Dunn prior to being taken out and paraded. The trainer and Club Stewards were issued with warnings under Rule 71.1.c given that the error was quickly handled and the dog had not been paraded with the incorrect rug. DEFINER shifted inwards at the start bumping SOUTHERN LIGHTS which in turn bumped into HYDE BAXTER. LIN BAXTER shifted outwards on the bend making contact with the hind quarters of TIMELY REMINDER which lost its momentum. Shortly afterwards TATUM BAXTER was galloped on from behind by DALLAS BAXTER with both these runners losing ground. SPRINGS ETERNAL raced wide on the bend.
Race 9	www.greyhoundsaspets.org.nz - C1/2 - 457	LA KINKS jumped awkwardly and lost ground. From the jump COUNTRY CROSSING ran inwards from the No. 5 box checking HOMEBUSH ERROL and tightening HOMEBUSH BUCK. Into the turn SHADOW BAXTER crossed and checked HOMEBUSH CORAL.
Race 10	IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY TIM - C3/4 - 390	Shortly after the jump HOMEBUSH KELSO and BUSINESS AFFAIR were tightened as SAN SEBASTIAN ran inwards from the No. 7 box and WUNZEE shifted ground outwards from the No. 4 box. Into the turn BOTANY WIN, HOMEBUSH KELSO and BUSINESS AFFAIR all bumped losing momentum. In the home straight SAN SEBASTIAN faded to finish a long last and was subject to a veterinary check which revealed no injury and the dog appeared to have tied up.
Race 11	ADDED ENERGY DASH - C2 - 390	From the jump CABARITA ran sharply inwards from the No. 7 box checking RAINCHECK with the trailing ROADWORKS also inconvenienced. In the run to the turn CABARITA continued to run inwards checking TELL THE BOYS. Into the straight SMOKING MARLEY shifted ground inwards checking COSTING MONEY. After the race HOMEBUSH SPIKE was examined by the veterinarian and found to have a dislocated right fore toe with a 21 day stand down recommended.
Race 12	justracing.com.au - C3 - 390	From the jump WRINKLES ran inwards checking OUT BACK BILL and NEDDY SEAGOON. Into the turn NEDDY SEAGOON shifted outwards checking WRINKLES. On the turn NO BRO and GET READY FREDDY bumped with GET READY FREDDY checking out wide and losing ground.
