| Race 1 | Super Pets Dash - C0 - 295 | ANOTHER CHARM (5) was a late scratching on vets advice after being found to have a swollen toe upon being collected to race. Shortly after the jump ANOTHER CHARMER (2) was crowded for racing room between KENTARO BAXTER (3) and SAMMY BAXTER (1). ANOTHER CHARMER was then turn out wards slightly by SAMMY BAXTER when negotiating the first bend. QUIN BAXTER (6) fell to the track and was unable to right itself after being severely dragged down by TATUM BAXTER (8) in the run to the lure post race. A Veterinarian examination found QUIN BAXTER to have a sustained an injury to its left Scapula resulting in treatment with pain killers and an anti-inflammatory. Due to a number of handlers attending to QUIN BAXTER and this dog not being available to pose at the podium Stewards waived the requirement of the second and third placed runners to return to the podium. When questioned regarding the improved performance of QUIN BAXTER, Kennel representative J McInerney (Jnr) advised that it had not received any luck in its previous two starts and had benefited from a clear run through the early stages helped by having a vacant box directly inside it today. |
| Race 2 | Happy Birthday Lynda White Stakes - C0 - 520 | OPAWA JAY JAY (6) came inwards after the start crowding the racing room of ANOTHER MESSAGE (5). UNO BRENT (4) had to check off the heels of ANOTHER MESSAGE when racing into the first bend. UNO JAMES (8) ran wide racing round the first bend. |
| Race 3 | Greyhounds As Pets Sprint - C1 - 295 | KNOW ENERGY (2) and TOO MUCH REBEL (7) were both slow to jump. RANGITATA RAIDER (6) came down the track shortly after the start forcing JEWEL APACHE (5) onto WRINKLES (4) which was slightly turned. WRINKLES was then obliged to check off the heels of JEWEL APACHE rounding the bend. |
| Race 4 | Hurunui Hotel Dash - C1 - 295 | TOKEN JUMP (8) proved difficult to load. This bitch's conduct when being boxed will be monitored in its upcoming starts. SMASH EASY (1) was placed in restricted room and lost ground when racing to the inside of MULBERRY BROOK (5) entering the bend. SMASH EASY then came out and slightly turned NOT SO CUTE (3). |
| Race 5 | I Pave Concrete Sprint - C1 - 295 | CHARLIE NEXT BOY (4) had its running line impeded through the early stages before checking off the heels of BIZARRO (5) and bumping HOMEBUSH NAKI (6). HAT TRICK CHAOS (3) lost ground entering the bend when placed awkwardly between STRUGGLE IS REAL (2) and BIZARRO. |
| Race 6 | Happy Birthday Jenny Dryland Stakes - C1 - 520 | GLORY HOG (4) was placed in restricted room through the early stages by OPAWA VIV (5) before being obliged to check off the heels of BLACKS SAILS (3) prior to the first bend. BLACK SAILS, DAD'S AMBITION (7) and KNOW NEGLECT (8) were awkwardly placed together entering the first bend. GLORY HOG and YOU'RE SO FREE (2) came together rounding the first bend. |
| Race 7 | Christchurch Casino Dash - C1 - 295 | MISS JOLT (5) lost ground and checked WOOLY WHATSIT (4) when squeezed for racing room to the inside of TAYLA'S FRIEND (8) entering the bend. JAMAICAN ARCHIE (2) and FILANTE (7) were inconvenienced by this. LOOK AT LUCY (3) and HOMEBUSH NARK (6) came together approaching the home straight with HOMEBUSH NARK racing wide and losing momentum. Co-trainer W Smith was questioned regarding the improved performance of LOOK AT LUCY. Mr Smith advised that his bitch had benefited from a inside box today. |
| Race 8 | Angler's Arms Tavern Sprint - C1 - 295 | TEPIRITA AMBER (5) and CAWBOURNE PIRATE (6) lost ground racing towards the bend when squeezed between BIG JOHN CANON (4) and AIR EXPRESS (7). HAYLEY JAMES (3) was held up by TEPIRITA AMBER entering the bend with TEPIRITA AMBER then clipping the heels of LAUDABLE (8) approaching the straight. Trainer M Dempsey was questioned regarding the improved performance of BIG JOHN CANON to which he believed was due to natural improvement in its second from a spell necessitated by illness. |
| Race 9 | Power Farming Canterbury Stakes - C1 - 520 | LA KINKS (4), GOLDSTAR COCO (9) and KNOW WORTH (8) were all slow to jump. MOBILIZE (1) was placed in restricted room shortly after the start by HOMEBUSH SLINKY (2). OPAWA PAUL (5) lost ground when squeezed between MOBILIZE and GOLDSTAR COCO entering the back straight. SPARROW (3) was awkwardly placed on the heels of PLUTONIUM (7) entering the home straight resulting in a slight check to KNOW WORTH. OPAWA PAUL was held up for racing room through the early stages of the run home. When questioned regarding the improved performance of LA KINKS, trainer M Grant was of the opinion that its recent starts have been luckless due to the dog's tendency of missing the jump and today was able to secure a trouble free run through the field. |
| Race 10 | C.T.V. Dash - C1 - 295 | MR. NOVEMBER (2) and HOMEBUSH FINE (3) came together upon jumping. TERRA ALERT (7), TOKEN MUSCLES (5), HOMEBUSH FINE, MR. NOVEMBER and MUST DESIRE (1) were all checked to different degrees when placed in restricted room in the run to the bend by GOLDSTAR MAGIC (8) which was coming down the track. |
| Race 11 | The Turf Bar Stakes - C1 - 520 | MEGA SURGE (4) was squeezed between KNOW LAPSE (3) and BOSTON BILLY (5) through the early stages. Racing into the first bend OPAWA EXTREME (7) checked off the heels of COME ON DOLLY (8) which caused an inconvenience to BOSTON BILLY and MEGA SURGE. |
