Weather: Raining
Track: Good The meeting commenced in nice fine conditions but rain fell later in the programme which made the conditions unpleasant for the participants. Following race 8 and after heavy rain fell, the track in the home straight became flooded. With a weather update predicting further heavy rain, in the interests of safety for the Greyhounds and the fact that it was considered that inside running dogs would be disadvantaged, the decision was made to abandon the meeting.

Race 1	ABSOLUTELY ELECTRICAL C2 - C2 - 305	BLITZING FLYER and NO TIME YET made brushing contact going into the bend and NO TIME YET was briefly unbalanced losing two lengths. FEAR MARINA began a little awkwardly losing one length. AZURE DREAMS was awkwardly positioned in restricted room going into the bend and lost two lengths.
Race 2	WANGANUI CHRONICLE C2 - C2 - 305	SHE'S SMASHING shifted in abruptly from the start and checked FIVE KAY LEG which lost ground and settled back. VENGA GUAPA shifted out from the start and bumped ZULU MERCEDES which then shifted out and bumped with SHE'S SMASHING and they were briefly unbalanced. VENGA GUAPA shifted out going into the bend and caused checks to ZULU MERCEDES, SHE'S SMASHING and BIGTIME CHIP which bumped together and they were all unbalanced losing ground and they stayed back to finish in the rear group. BIGTIME CHIP was the most affected in the incident and she almost fell.
Race 3	LIQUORLAND WANGANUI C2 - C2 - 305	OPAWA LACHLAN, ARIZONA SKY and BIG WONDER were slow to begin losing three lengths. OPAWA LACHLAN then shifted out to race wide on the track covering extra ground and finished in 6th place. BIG WONDER was held up for a short distance on the bend when avoiding the heels of ARIZONA SKY which was also hampered in the incident and lost ground.
Race 4	AON CPF C2/3 - C2/3 - 520	APPLAUSE shifted out from the start and dictated the line of PUNCH ON JAIME which shifted onto the line of BARRY'S WAY which was checked. LAGOON KOOTCHY checked off the back of TRIDENT going into the first bend and shifted out abruptly causing checks to BARRY'S WAY, ZAMADDIS LASS, THOU ROMEO and BOTANY RICHIE which all lost ground. BOTANY RICHIE, LAGOON KOOTCHY and ZAMADDIS LASS were the most affected losing several lengths and all chance.
Race 5	THE ROCK 95.2FM C3 - C3 - 305	EMPTY BANK, RUNS FOR GAS and TONGARIRO jostled together for a short distance soon after the start and they were briefly unbalanced. CAWBOURNE ARROW, CRYSTAL WAVE and JUST YOU WAIT came together going into the bend and jostled losing momentum briefly. TONGARIRO and JUST YOU WAIT bumped together on the bend and lost ground and soon after, EMPTY BANK galloped on the back of JUST YOU WAIT and they went back onto CRYSTAL WAVE. All three were badly checked in the incident losing several lengths and all chance.
Race 6	PALAMOUNTAINS SCIENTIFIC NUTRITION C3 - C3 - 305	CAPTAINS CHOICE, which was having his first start for the M.Roberts kennel, was down in weight by 1.6 kilograms and this was an intentional decrease in weight. BOSTON LIGHTNING and HOMEBUSH CRASH were slow to begin losing two lengths. EMBEE DEE shifted out slightly on the bend and this resulted in checks to itself and also SEMANTICS and HOMEBUSH CRASH and they lost three lengths and stayed back to finish at the rear. EMBEE DEE was referred to the Vet for assessment at the Handlers request and found to have tricep muscle pain.
Race 7	KEENAN CONCRETE C3 - C3 - 305	HOMEBUSH SARAH faltered and went off stride going to the first corner and she then drifted quickly off the back of the field and finished several lengths last. HOMEBUSH SARAH was referred to the Vet for assessment and found to Have a tricep muscle injury. GRUNT RODGERS raced up onto the heels of UNO HEIDI on the bend and they both lost several lengths and all chance.
Race 8	HARRISON HIRE MASTER C4/5 - C4/5 - 305	SHINZIGZAG was the slowest to begin losing two lengths and he stayed back throughout the race. BOSTON BLAZE and MATILDA'S BABE bumped together when the start was made and MATILDA'S BABE suffered the most and lost a length. SHINZIGZAG was referred to the Vet for assessment at the Trainers request and found to have thigh muscle pain.
Race 9	THE DOGZONE C4/5 - C4/5 - 520	Following race 8 and prior to the start of this race, there was a heavy downpour and the water lay approxamately a metre and a half out into the racing surface in the home straight. After consultation with Trainers and the Clubs Veterinary surgeon and also an update from the weather bureau, the decision was made to abandon the meeting in the interests of the Greyhounds welfare. Also of concern was the fact that with water laying on the track, it was felt that it would not provide a level playing field with inside running dogs at a distinct disadvantage.
