Track: Good The starting box lids opened prematurely in Race 6 which was abandoned. The trip had activated, with the cause suspected to be a power surge. The boxes were tested with no further problems experienced. Despite heavy persistent rain the day before the meeting and during the morning of the meeting the track was in good condition with a drying wind and improved overhead conditions for the meeting.

Race 1	www.southlandgreyhounds.co.nz - C0 - 390	From the jump BURNO ran sharply inwards checking HOMEBUSH DOBBY. In the run to the turn CHAIMBO shifted ground inwards tightening OHOKA TOO SOON with the trailing BAZINGA KIMBA severely checked. Into the turn BURNO was checked when VERBATIM ran inwards and then collided with HOMEBUSH DOBBY before tailing off to finish last. A veterinarian check of BURNO revealed right hip pain with a 7 day stand down recommended.
Race 2	ADDED ENERGY SPRINT - C0 - 390	HOMEBUSH FLYTE was slow to jump. From the jump CUE POWER shifted inwards checking SMASH STYLE. Racing to the turn SMASH STYLE ran outwards checking EBONY STAR. Into the bend HOMEBUSH FLYTE came inwards checking BOTANY BAZZ resulting in BOTANY BAZZ climbing on HOMEBUSH FLYTE's heels. The trailing EBONY STAR was inconvenienced in this incident.
Race 3	ASCOT PARK HOTEL - C1 - 390	Into the turn TRICKY ZORRO shifted ground inwards checking CAWBOURNE BUTTSY
Race 4	www.greyhoundsaspets.org.nz - C1 - 390	GLENN IS GOODSEY, LIL DANNY RASCAL and TOO MUCH REBEL were slow to jump. From the jump MATTY HOOKY and TAI BAXTER bumped with both dogs losing momentum. Into the turn LIL DANNY RASCAL ran outwards taking TOO MUCH REBEL wide on the track. A post race veterinary check of MILLIE'S BOY revealed the dog to have lameness in the left foreleg with a 21 day stand down recommended.
Race 5	INVERCARGILL STAKES - C1 - 390	At the jump HOMEBUSH NINJA ran sharply inwards checking ARCHIE'S COMET with HOMEBUSH ERROL also inconvenienced. Into the turn STARBURST BENNY checked off the heels of HOMEBUSH NINJA losing momentum and ARCHIE'S COMET also checked off the rear of SAILORS COLLAR.
Race 6	SGRC $50 LEATHER LEADS - C3 - 390	After the dogs had been placed in the starting boxes the lids opened prior to the lure being set in motion. The dogs then ran the 390m and Stewards acting under Rule 76.1 declared the race a No Race. As the dogs had run out the distance Stewards deemed a re-start to be detrimental to the welfare of greyhounds and abandoned the race under Rule 76.6. Stewards tested the starting boxes prior to the start of Race 7 with these functioning as required. Stewards ordered a veterinary check on RINGA DINGA and GENIA HAKA following the race with no abnormalities detected.
Race 7	BRENDON BURKE @ FIRST NATIONAL - C4 - 390	Into the turn GRUNT RODGERS was tightened between DEE and OPAWA BART and lost ground.
Race 8	SOUTHLAND & OTAGO PHOTO FINISH - C0 - 457	HOMEBUSH GRU was slow to jump. From the jump HOMEBUSH SLINKY ran inwards checking PINT SIZED PIXIE with the trailing HOMEBUSH GRU inconvenienced. Into the turn TUI TIME shifted ground outwards checking HOMEBUSH GRU with HOMEBUSH SLINKY pushed wide on the track.
Race 9	SGRC $26 FIVE WIRE MUZZLE STAKES - C1/2 - 457	From the jump COSTING MONEY ran inwards checking OPAWA MARGORIE. In the run to the turn HOMEBUSH STEW shifted inwards tightening BOTANY LIZ who lost ground.
Race 10	SOUTHLAND STAKES - C1 - 457	THRILLING SHRIMP was slow to jump. From the jump KIWIANA ran inwards and clipped the heels of SPARROW with both dogs losing momentum. In the run to the turn NICKY NOIR was tightened by MR JOHNNY and lost ground.
Race 11	RACING AGAIN 11 NOVEMBER - C3 - 457	OPAWA OPAL was subject to a veterinary check prior to the race when blood was evident in the dog's mouth. The dog was cleared to race. Following the race THRILLING BERT was subject to a veterinary check with an injury to the left fore toes and a 14 day stand down recommended.
Race 12	justracing.com.au - C1/2 - 390	At the jump UNRELIABLE ANDY ran sharply inwards checking SMASH AMY and PRIMITIVE shifted ground outwards making heavy contact with OPAWA LAZ with both dogs losing momentum. In the run to the turn YALDHURST EDWARDS ran inwards tightening JACK'S A JEWEL and PRIMITIVE who checked outwards and lost ground.
