Weather: Fine
Track: Dead Due to recent rain the track was differing in certain areas. Some areas being good, some dead and some slow. An overall rating of Dead was posted taking into account the wetter areas of the track. A strong breeze and warmer weather resulted in the track improving throughout the day.

Race 1 www.greyhoundsaspets.org.nz - C0 - 310 BLAZING KIMBA shifted ground outwards down the back straight and made firm contact with BURNO. CHERIE CHERIE was checked when attempting a run to the inside of COLLECTING MONEY as the runners made the bend. COLLECTING MONEY then shifted out taking SMASH WHO out onto FINANCE TOMMO who was buffeted, unbalanced and taken wider on the track. On the home turn CHERIE CHERIE shifted out making contact with COLLECTING MONEY.
Race 2 Otago Celebration Maiden Stakes Heats - C0q - 545 Heat 1 YEAH DEFINITELY shifted out after the start and raced wide towards the first bend. ZAHRA MOON and JEWEL APACHE were squeezed between runners shortly after the start and lost some momentum. Racing into the first bend YEAH DEFINITELY shifted in making firm contact with JEWEL APACHE. YEAH DEFINITELY gave ground over the concluding stages and finished a distant last with stewards ordering a post race examination of the dog. The subsequent examination revealed the dog had tied up in his first run for eleven months. Trainer M Robinson advised the stewards he expected natural improvement from today's race for YEAH DEFINTELY.
Race 3 Otago Celebration Maiden Stakes Heats - C0q - 545 Heat 2 KINLOCH POWER was very slow to begin. GLADYS EMMANUEL shifted in at the start making firm contact with YOU'RE SO FREE. HOMEBUSH STEW was buffeted and unbalanced at the start when LOTS OF BEERSIES shifted outwards. SUSAN JEWEL and GLADYS EMMANUEL both raced very wide rounding the first bend. Off the back straight HOMEBUSH STEW lost some momentum when crowded by COLDRUM. On the bend into the straight SUSAN JEWEL shifted in and was momentarily unbalanced when making contact with LOTS OF BEERSIES.
Race 4 Green Island Barber Sprint - C1 - 310 TOKEN RAY was slow to begin. PUMA PANTS stumbled at start and lost ground. KATIE ATE IT had check off heels racing into the bend and lost ground. On the turn for home PUMA PANTS was crowded by BIZZARO when taking a run along the rail.
Race 5 Otago Daily Times Sprint - C1 - 310 GOLDSTAR BRIDIE was slow to begin. Racing towards the bend MEMPHIS GIRL shifted out simultaneously to TURBO TUNDRA shifting in resulting in crowding to LAST EXPLORER, SONNY WILL and CAWBOURNE CHIEF who became unbalanced and lost ground. Shortly after this incident TURBO TUNDRA stumbled and lost momentum.
Race 6 Bramwell Scaffolding Sprint - C2 - 310 There was an official delay of 1 minute at the request of the TAB. LEMAQUIS WILLOW began awkwardly and slow into stride as a result. On the bend CEC DIVINE had to shift ground outwards when awkwardly placed on heels.
Race 7 Roofing Solutions Stakes - C1 - 545 EARN ME SOME was slow to begin. LADY MUI shifted in at the start making firm contact and momentarily unbalancing OPAWA ROB. Down the back straight EARN ME SOME and NOGGIN made firm contact. Racing into the final bend NOGGIN has clipped the rear of EARN ME SOME with both dogs losing ground.
Race 8 Brocklebanks Dry Cleaners Stakes - C2 - 545 OPAWA OPAL and OPAWA BRO were both slow to begin. Just after the start BOTANY BLAKE shifted in crowding GOLD VIPA, OPAWA SHAIDEN and OPAWA KENDAL. SHEZ KEEN shifted out in the run to the first turn buffeting GOLD VIPA. GOLD VIPA continued to race in restricted room between SHEZ KEEN and BOTANY BLAKE rounding the first bend before eventually checking out of a tight gap. Racing towards the back straight SHEZ KEEN shifted outwards off heels taking BOTANY BLAKE and OPAWA BRO wider on the track. Into the back straight GOLD VIPA shifted out making firm contact with BOTANY BLAKE. GOLD VIPA and BOTANY BLAKE made firm contact again on the final bend with BOTANY BLAKE stumbling for a stride and losing some momentum.
Race 9 Speedprint Shop Stakes - C3 - 545 HIS LORDSHIP was slow to begin. STICH UP was crowded and lost ground shortly after the start when dogs either side shifted ground. HIS LORDSHIP was taken wider on the track by OPAWA AMY when attempting to improve around the field on the first turn. OPAWA KAREN has had to shift ground outwards to find clear racing room on the run towards the back straight. Also at this point TRUST ISSUES shifted in checking ROB'S MATE who lost ground. Into the back straight OPAWA AMY clipped the back of AMBILIGHT with both dogs losing ground. Into the turn off the back straight AMBILIGHT made firm contact with the rail and stumbled badly losing considerable ground and it's chance in the race. Stewards ordered a veterinary check of AMBILIGHT which revealed no abnormalities.
Race 10 St Kilda Veterinary Centre Sprint - C3 - 310 GOLDSTAR CHYNA was slow to begin. MIGHTY TWIST shifted down the track from the start and crowded TWO WAYS and then made firm contact with ZORBA THE GREEK. TWO WAYS lost momentum when crowded by MIGHTY TWIST racing into the turn. On the turn for home SHEZA GAMBLE shifted out forcing MIGHTY TWIST out onto BANBIT with both these dogs being unbalanced momentarily.
Race 11 Green Island Super Liquor Sprint - C4 - 310 Racing down the back straight FANTASTIC FOUR who was awkwardly placed on the heels of BUGSY BANGLES stumbled and shifted inwards making contact with KNOW JEALOUSY. On the home turn BUMP shifted out sending BUGSY BANGLES out onto KNOW KNOWING who was buffeted, unbalanced and stumbled losing ground. When attempting to regain his feet KNOW KNOWING was then clipped by OPAWA IDOL who was dictated wider on the track and also took KNOW JEALOSY wider. Into the straight KNOW KNOWING shifted in crowding FANTASTIC FOUR who lost his feet and fell. Stewards ordered a post race veterinary examination of FANTASTIC FOUR which revealed the dog to be suffering from concussion with a 14 day stand down recommended.
Race 12 Racing Again Sunday 19th October - C5 - 310 KERAMUS was slow to begin. CAWBOURNE QUEEN shifted in and crowded RONROSE HILL who lost ground in the run down the back. CAWBOURNE QUEEN continued the inward movement crowding ABOUND and WANDY GAYLENE who also lost ground in the run to the turn. CAWBOURNE QUEEN ran wide on the home bend and was turned sideways when making contact with the improving KERAMUS.
Race 21 Non Tote - Tier 2 - 310 SAILOR'S COLLAR raced wide throughout and very wide in the run home.
