SPIDER GIRL (6) checked off heels into the bend when improving rapidly. On the bend DA LAST CHOOK (3) ran outwards pushing SPIDER GIRL, PROTONIC PEDRO (7) and SACAJAWEA wider on the track. |
| Race 2 | BRONWYN'S BIRTHDAY BASH - C1 - 390 | GLENN IS GOODSEY (8) came up with the lids and settled at the rear. NO BRO (3) was badly checked in the early stages dropping to the rear. CABARITA (4) ran inwards into the bend again checking NO BRO with GLENN IS GOODSEY galloping on the back of this runner. RANGITATA RAIDER (1) ran wide into the bend firstly causing JOYNER KERSEY (5) to change ground to his inside and then pushing CAWBOURNE BUTTSY (2) and SHADOW BAXTER (7) over extra ground. Stewards withheld payment until it was established that GLENN IS GOODSEY was afforded a fair start and that this runner was slow of its own accord. NO BRO was referred to the vet for assessment. |
| Race 3 | ADDED ENERGY - C1 - 390 | COSMIC BOLERO (9) was tightened and checked into the bend and lost ground. In the early stages of the run home MILLIE'S BOY (3) shifted up the track causing CAWBOURNE CRUZE (4) to be checked and stumble for a stride losing ground. |
| Race 4 | ROLL ON SPRING STAKES - C2 - 390 | NOT SO CUTE (7) and COWABUNGA (8) were the last pair from the traps. In the back straight TURBO TUNDRA (3) was tightened and stumbled losing ground. Into the bend HE'S A JESSIE (4) and WANDY FEATHER (6) jostled for a few strides and then were placed in restricted room as an improving COWABUNGA angled inwards. COWABUNGA was also checked at this stage losing momentum for a stride. COWABUNGA was referred to the vet for assessment following this event. The winner THRILLING JAMES (9) was also referred to the vet for assessment. |
| Race 5 | SGRC $26 FIVE WIRE MUZZLE STAKES - C1 - 457 | OPAWA DOSH (1) and NICKY NOIR (8) were the last pair on jumping. OPAWA DOSH shifted up the track in the back straight checking NICKY NOIR. Into the bend SOUMILLON (3) angled outwards pushing SPARROW (4) wider on the track. |
| Race 6 | SOUTHLAND & OTAGO PHOTO FINISH - C0 - 457 | This race was delayed by one minute at the request of Raceday Control. YOU'RE SO FREE (6) and CAWBOURNE STEVE (7) were the last pair on settling. EYREWELL HAWKE (4) shifted up the track in the early stages placing GEE WHIZZ JEANIE (5) in restricted room. YOU'RE SO FREE was checked into the bend as CAWBOURNE STEVE crossed to the rail with YOU'RE SO FREE running outwards and losing ground. GEE WHIZZ JEANIE ran very wide on the home turn losing ground. |
| Race 7 | OUR SKY DIVING ADVENTURE - C3 - 390 | LA FONTAINE (8) was last to jump. JACK'S A JEWEL (9) ran inwards at dispatch causing a slight check to OPAWA LEAN MEAT (4). Into the bend LA FONTAINE contacted the hindquarters of JACK'S A JEWEL and lost ground. |
| Race 8 | BRENDON BURKE @ FIRST NATIONAL - C4 - 390 | IRISH BLUE (5) ran inwards checking NO LEAF CLOVER (4) for a stride in the initial stages. Wider out WHITEY'S GONE (7) ran inwards contacting DEANNE'S MAGIC (6) with WHITEY'S GONE losing ground. IRISH BLUE and NO LEAF CLOVER were tightened into the bend and lost ground. Soon after TEPIRITA CHARGER (1) angled outwards pushing IRISH BLUE and CHOKEHOLD (8) wider on the track. IRISH BLUE was again tightened between TEPIRITA CHARGER and CHOKEHOLD on the bend losing momentum. |
| Race 9 | SGRC $50 LEATHER LEADS - C3/4 - 457 | CHLOE'S PRODIGY (10) was a touch slow to leave the traps. OPAWA STELLA (3) lost ground at the end of the back straight as she attempted to run outwards and contacted IDOL GIRL (4) who in turn was pushed on to THUMB PRINT TONY (5). PUNCH ON JAIME (7) angled inwards into the bend tightening OPAWA STELLA and IDOL GIRL. |
| Race 10 | GREYHOUNDSASPETS.ORG.NZ - C5 - 457 | ROBBIE (2) shifted marginally outwards into the bend causing a minor check to JINJARANGO (3) with THRILLING MARTY (8) losing momentum for a stride wider out. BOTANY KEVIN (6) was forced wide around the bend. |
| Race 11 | ASCOT PARK HOTEL - C5 - 390 | FLYING SWAN (7) was last to jump. LITTLE REGUS (4) and CAWBOURNE JELLY (5) came together in the run to the bend. LITTLE MIDNIGHT (3) then ran inwards checking ANDREA (2). Into the bend LITTLE REGUS checked outwards off the heels of SMASH RUMOUR (6) and pushed CAWBOURNE JELLY, ON THE LEVEL (10) and FLYING SWAN very wide on the track with this trio losing their chances. ON THE LEVEL was referred to the vet for assessment. |

HARLEM HAKA (6) ran inwards tightening CAPTAIN'S CHOICE (5) who was forced to change ground to the outside.
