| Race 1 | Super Pets Sprint - C3 - 295 | GENIA HAKA (2) a box-first dog, was very awkward to box in this event. CAMRAY (1) and GENIA HAKA were the last pair to jump. SWIP AND TEAR (8) ran inwards in the early stages checking BO'S BUSINESS (7) for a stride. CHURCHILL CHASER (3) was tightened into the bend and lost ground with EDITORIAL (5) being hampered in behind. CHURCHILL CHASER angled outwards on the home turn as CAMRAY improved to her inside causing GENIA HAKA and EDITORIAL to be pushed wide. |
| Race 2 | Racing Greyhound Breeders (NZ) Ltd Dash - C4 - 295 | WILL EXCITE (2) was last to jump. WHITEY'S GONE (6) and IMPERSONATOR (4) were crowded in the early stages as NO LEAF CLOVER (7) angled inwards. SPRINKLES (5) was tightened into the bend and lost ground. FANTASTIC FOUR (8) ran wide on the bend. IMPERSONATOR ran inwards on the home turn checking WILL EXCITE who lost ground. |
| Race 3 | Thursday Place Pick Sprint - C3 - 295 | OPAWA IDOL (5) and BILLY WEST (6) settled at the rear. CHOKEHOLD (1) was inclined to angle outwards in the back straight. CAMPAIGNER (7) ran inwards into the bend firstly tightening MULBERRY BROOK (4) and GOLDSTAR BOMBER (2) and then CONALOO (3) and CHOKEHOLD who had their chances extinguished at this stage. On the turn JOHN DORY (8) ran inwards checking BILLY WEST who lost momentum. CONALOO was referred to the vet for assessment following this race. |
| Race 4 | Glenbyre Tavern Stakes - C3 - 520 | CAWBOURNE MERC (6) and TAKE A TRICK (8) were the last pair from the traps. BRIGHTON BULLET (3) shifted outwards in the early stages hampering THUMB PRINT TONY (4) for a stride. CHLOE'S PRODIGY (5) lost ground into the first bend with TAKE A TRICK checking outwards off her back when improving. RAMBUNCTIOUS (2) commenced to weaken at the end of the back straight with CAWBOURNE MERC faltering when attempting to improve to his outside. CAWBOURNE MERC and CHLOE'S PRODIGY were both referred to the vet for assessment following this event. |
| Race 5 | Garrard's Horse & Hound Dash - C3 - 295 | OUT BACK BILL (8) was last to jump. BILLY MUGGINS (10) was checked into the bend and lost ground with GO TOMMO (3) and OUT BACK BILL being forced wide at this point. OUT BACK BILL checked off the back of WUNZEE (9) on the home turn when well back. On the home turn LA FONTAINE (4) shifted marginally outwards brushing with JACK'S A JEWEL (7) for a stride. In the home straight JACK'S A JEWEL ran inwards coming together with LA FONTAINE for a stride with both runners losing momentum momentarily. Following this event Stewards viewed all available replays of the home straight, in particular to look at the performances of LA FONTAINE and JACK'S A JEWEL and to ascertain if a breach of Rule 80.1.b. had occurred. The definition of Failing to Pursue is that a runner "voluntarily turns the head or eases up or stops free of interference". As reported LA FONTAINE and JACK'S A JEWEL made contact on two occasions over the concluding stages of the race with neither contact made being as a result of the turning of a head. The result was that interference, albeit minor, had occurred and this had cost both dogs the loss of some momentum allowing the faster finishing OPAWA LEAN MEAT (2) to run past them over the concluding stages. Stewards concluded, therefore, that a charge alleging a breach of Rule 80.1.b. could not be sustained given the definition of Failing to Pursue and took the matter no further. |
| Race 6 | Kolorful Kanvas Dash - C5 - 295 | PEARL'S BOY (4) was last on settling. BOTANY JESSIE (8) checked off the hindquarters of ANGEL NOIR (7) into the bend and ran outwards. KERAMUS (5) then improved to her inside and pushed her and RUSTY KNIFE (6) wider on the track. |
| Race 7 | racingdogs.co.nz Stakes - C4 - 520 | JINJA TURTLE (8) was last to jump. OPAWA STELLA (10) was checked into the first bend and lost ground with AMBILIGHT (4) hampered in behind. JINJA TURTLE and DEANNE'S FANTASY (9) were both forced wide into the first bend. |
| Race 8 | Shirley Vet Clinic Dash - C4 - 295 | IRISH BLUE (7) ran sharply inwards in the early stages with SPRINKLES (5) being badly tightened and losing ground drifting off the body of the field. Into the bend MR. KEGAN (8) was dragged down for a stride and then contacted the hindquarters of RED HOT FURY (4) and faltered. MR. KEGAN was then ran outwards and was contacted by MOTLEY MAN (3) who also lost ground. MR. KEGAN continued to run outwards and fell with RICK'S TERRA (6) being badly checked and losing his chance. MR. KEGAN and SPRINKLES were both referred to the vet for assessment. |
| Race 9 | C.T.V. Sprint Feature - C5 - 295 | FOLLOW FAME (6) ran outwards in the early stages checking PLAGIARISM (8) for a stride. DRYSDALE (4) received slight tightening in the back straight. Into the bend HOMEBUSH CHURRO (2) was dragged down when in a handy position, losing ground and causing OPAWA COLIN (3), DRYSDALE, HETFIELD (7) and PLAGIARISM to all run wide and lose their winning chances. HOMEBUSH CHURRO was referred to the vet for assessment. |
| Race 10 | Christchurch Casino Feature - C5 - 520 | CAWBOURNE PHILIP (8) was last to jump. HOMEBUSH CHOPPER (3) ran inwards checking OPAWA ZARA (1) in the early stages. UNSHAKEN (9) received a check into the first bend with this causing GRUNT RODGERS (5) and BOTANY KEVIN (6) to lose ground with CAWBOURNE PHILIP being compelled to cover extra ground. |

| Race 12 | Snow-e Muscle, Energy & Fertility Sprint - C4 - 295 | TIME SLAYER (3) and STARBURST JOSH (6) were the last pair on jumping. TIME SLAYER was then held up into the bend when attempting to improve. STARBURST JOSH raced wide into the bend when well back. FLYING SWAN (2) was held up in behind runners on the home turn. |
