Weather: Cloudy
Track: Heavy Due to constant rain over the previous days the track was rated as heavy but tended to race as a slushy track for the early races. The scales have recently been certified as correct after an inspection and test. Due to the incident in Race 3 today the lure required changing and further testing causing a delay in todays racing.

Health and Safety comment:

Judicial report: OCTANE TIME (R.P.BREEN) was suspended for 3 months and required to complete a satisfactory trial under rule 80.1 a.b. for marring.
Due to an incident which lead to the abandonment of Race 3 today the starting times for each race were rescheduled by one race with the last race being set to go at 3.54 p.m.

Race 1	Brian Bagley Driver Licensing Sprint - C0 - 310	TOAST TIME was very slow to begin. TONY'S CHOICE was squeezed between FINANCE TOMMO and HOMEBUSH SAXON with all runners losing momentum. Racing into the bend FINANCE TOMMO shifted in checking OCTANE TIME. Into the bend OCTANE TIME ran outwards and turned its head towards and made contact with HOMEBUSH SAXON. Stewards charged OCTANE TIME (R. P. BREEN) under Rule 80.1 (a) marring the running of another greyhound. Trainer BREEN admitted the breach of the rule after viewing stewards footage of the incident and with this being the dogs second offence OCTANE TIME was stood down for 3 months and required to complete a satisfactory trial. The trainer advised it was now his intention to retire OCTANE TIME as a racing proposition. Further into the bend OCTANE TIME and HOMEBUSH SAXON made contact again resulting the trailing TOAST TIME having steady and change ground outwards.
Race 2	www.greyhoundsaspets.org.nz - C1 - 310	BO'S BUSINESS stumbled out of the boxes and was slow to begin. SMASH AMEGO and WINNE WILLOW were also slow to begin. SMASH AMEGO and OPAWA HOG jostled for several strides on the bend.. Making the final bend BO'S BUSINESS made heavy contact with WINNE WILLOW with both dogs being unbalanced.
Race 3	Roofing Solutions Stakes - C0 - 545	I'M A CHOOK shifted in abruptly at the start and made heavy contact with the running rail, falling on the track and losing all chance in the race. GOLDSTAR JUNIOR, SOUMILLION and OPAWA JACKIE all made heavy contact shortly after the start. Racing into the first bend OPAWA JACKIE was galloped on and bought down by GOLDSTAR JUNIOR with both dogs losing there chance. At this stage the lure driver fearing the fallen dogs could not be cleared from the track slowed the lure to the point where the dogs caught the lure after the remaining runners had travelled over 350 metres. This race was declared a no race under Rule 76.1 and eventually abandoned under Rule 76.6. Stewards ordered post race veterinary inspections of I,M A CHOOK, OPAWA JACKIE and GOLDSTAR JUNIOR. The subsequent inspection of I'M A CHOOK revealed a laceration to the right front leg with the greyhound being stood for 10 days. OPAWA JACKIE and GOLDSTAR JUMIOR were found to be injury free.
Race 4	Speedprint Shop Stakes - C1 - 545	OPAWA MARG and CHILL OUT RALPH made firm contact on jumping away. OPAWA MARG raced wide down the back straight. CHILL OUT RALPH shifted out off the heels of NOGGIN on the final turn inconveniencing PUKEKO PROWLER
Race 5	Brocklebanks Dry Cleaners Stakes - C2 - 545	Racing into the first bend PUKEKO THUNDER has shifted ground outwards off heels taking WANDY ON IN and OPAWA BART wider on the track. Further into the bend AMBILIGHT has shifted inwards crowding CAWBOURNE FLOYD momentarily with AMBILIGHT losing some momentum. Into the back straight CAWBOURNE FLOYD has shifted in crowding WAIMAK DAVE who lost momentum.
Race 6	Happy Birthday Murray Hill Sprint - C2 - 310	JOEY'S SECRET was slow to begin. SMASH AMY and RATTLE YA DAGS jostled through the early stages. Racing into the bend JASPER HAKA was crowded and brushed the running rail. Further into the bend STOCK TAKER was crowded and lost some momentum.
Race 7	Keyosk Service Bar Sprint - C3 - 310	Raced towards the bend MOTLEY MAN shifted in crowding JOHN DORY and SPRINKLES with both dogs losing ground. JOHN DORY continued to race in restricted room rounding the bend.
Race 8	Otago Petfoods Stakes - C3/4 - 545	OPAWA BRO was awkwardly away at the start. TAKE NO PRISONER raced wide throughout. CRINITI'S who was giving ground in the back straight faltered in his action and eventually finished a distance last with the stewards ordering a veterinary examination of the dog. The subsequent examination revealed an injury to the right gracilus.
Race 9	Green Island Barber Dunedin Cup - C5f - 545	NO UNDIES SUNDAY was slow to begin. THRILLING MARTY was jostled between OPAWA CASPER and CAWBURNE PHILLIP just after the start. OPAWA NO EAR was crowded in the run to the first bend and lost ground. KNOW ATTEMPT and OPAWA CASPER bumped heavily racing to the first bend. THRILLING MARTY shifted ground outwards on the first taking CAWBOURNE PHILLIP wider on the track. Also at this point OPAWA NO EAR galloped on the OPAWA CASPER with both runners losing ground. THRILLING MARTY raced wide down the back straight and then drifted wide in the run home.
Race 10	St Kilda Veterinary Centre Stakes - C3 - 545	HOMEBUSH VIOLET shifted in abruptly at the start crowding and checking OPAWA ZARA. HOMEBUSH VIOLET continued to shift in and made firm contact with GRUNT RODGERS. OPAWA ZARA had to check out off heels making contact with OPAWA ANDREA racing into the first bend. GRUNT RODGERS raced in restricted room rounding the final bend and then shifted out racing towards the home straight making firm contact with OPAWA ANDREA with both dogs losing some momentum..
Race 11	Roofing Solutions Sprint - C4 - 310	The trainer of TAIERI PLAINS who was scratched in this race advised that the dog had been retired from racing. ELKI shifted out abruptly at the start making contact with ANOTHER JEWEL. Racing to the bend ANOTHER JEWEL became unbalanced when shifting ground inwards and crowding ELKI who lost ground. Further into the bend ANOTHER JEWEL shifted in crowding AS FAR AS who lost ground.
Race 12	Racing Again Tuesday 13th May - C5 - 310	KERAMUS was slow to begin. Racing into the bend KERAMUS shifted outwards checking NOBLE FANTASY who lost ground. KERAMUS continued to shift outwards buffeting and unbalancing QUEDRAGO who also lost ground. QUEDRAGO was further hampered when galloped on by the trailing LITTLE MIDNIGHT. LITTLE MIDNIGHT made the bend into the home straight awkwardly and lost momentum.
Race 21	Non Tote C1 Sprint - Tier 2 - 310	TANTO'S WHISPER was slow to begin. CASTLE EDEN and ZULU DEB jostled racing round the bend.
