Weather: Fine
Track: Dead . Numbers 9 and 10, which have not been able to be safely and securely affixed to the lids of the aluminium starting boxes, were not in use at the meeting today for reserve dogs gaining entry to fields. The club was requested by Stewards to look into options for securing the numbers to the lids and report back.
Scales: Correct at 20kgs and 30 kgs
Health and Safety comment: Nil.

Judicial report: (1) A post race swab was taken from JENKA BAXTER (J McInerney) which won the qualifying trial prior to the meeting. (2) An investigation was opened into the scratching of a number of runners trained by J McInerney. After an initial review of the facts and receipt of submissions from the trainer's representative and the Southland club, the Stewards referred the matter to the Judicial Control Authority for determination.

Race 1	CENTRAL WATER CARRIERS - C0 - 457	GRUNT RODGERS and CASY'S RAIDA were slow to jump. Into the turn OPAWA TURN shifted ground inwards and checked TOKEN RAY. On the turn TOKEN RAY was tightened by GRUNT RODGERS and ran wide. OPAWA SHAIDEN was referred to the vet for assessment.
Race 2	SOUTHLAND & OTAGO PHOTO FINISH - C0 - 390	I'M A CHOOK was very slow to begin. OCHE and FIVE DOLLAR LEO collided shortly after the start. In the run to the first turn OCHE and FIVE DOLLAR LEO again made contact. Into the turn OCHE collided with CAWBOURNE IMPACT and lost momentum. HAMPDEN HEWEY raced wide throughout.
Race 3	ADDED ENERGY SPRINT - C1 - 390	GYPSY HUNTER was slow to begin. Rounding the turn SON OF GRACE and OPAWA HOG came together with both dogs losing momentum. The trailing CHOCDEE ALICE and GYPSY HUNTER were inconvenienced as a result.
Race 4	SGRC $26 FIVE WIRE MUZZLE STAKES - C2 - 390	ROCKY BAXTER and GLENN IS GOODSEY were slow to jump. Into the turn CAMRAY shifted ground outwards and checked the running of NOGGIN and GLENN IS GOODSEY.
Race 5	WILLY'S FLOORING LTD - C3 - 390	COSMIC GALAXY was slow to jump. From the jump SMASH AMY shifted ground outwards and checked BILLY MUGGINS. In the run to the turn OPAWA LEGS ran out and checked HOMEBUSH HAYLEY. After the winning post STOCK TAKER was clipped in the rear by BILLY MUGGINS and fell, quickly regaining her feet. STOCK TAKER was referred to the vet for assessment which revealed no injuries.
Race 6	www.southlandgreyhound.co.nz - C1 - 457	Race start time was delayed two minutes at the request of Raceday Control. From the jump OPAWA TANIA ran inwards and checked MOON AND SEA and TEPIRITA ENFORCE. Into the turn TEPIRITA ENFORCE and MITCHELL DEAN came together and lost momentum, and OPAWA TANIA shifted inwards and checked MOON AND SEA. TEPIRITA ENFORCE was referred to the vet for assessment.
Race 7	COLORMARK SYSTEMS LTD - C2 - 457	MR JIMMY jumped awkwardly and lost momentum. SMASHIN' TIME and HARLEM HAKA came together several times in the run to the turn with SMASHIN' TIME becoming unbalanced into the turn and losing ground checking OPAWA BART, MR JIMMY and BIGTIME TIP.
Race 8	BRENDON BURKE @ FIRST NATIONAL - C3 - 457	OPAWA WALLY and MEGA GIRL collided soon after the start. Into the turn OPAWA BRO and OPAWA BOMB came together with OPAWA BRO losing momentum. Rounding the turn GAME GIRL and OPAWA BOMB made contact. Following the race BOB'S EYE was referred to the vet for assessment.
Race 9	HAPPY HOLIDAYS SPRINT - C4 - 390	Stewards withheld authorisation of payment for this race until they had reviewed the start. Stewards were satisfied that HOMEBUSH MAYHEM had not been denied a fair start in terms of Rule 76.9, but had jumped very awkwardly and lost several lengths. Payment was then authorised. During the race BUGSY BANGLES and OPAQUE raced wide on the turn, and further into the turn OPAQUE and HOMEBUSH MAYHEM collided and lost ground.
Race 10	SGRC $50 LEATHER LEADS - C3/4 - 457	BONE NERD was slow to jump and OPAWA CASPER shifted out sharply at the jump losing ground. On the turn BONE NERD checked out off the rear of OPAWA CASPER and ran wide. Furtherinto the turn LAUDABLE checked off OPAWA CASPER and lost momentum.
Race 11	HAPPY NEW YEAR STAKES - C5 - 457	RUSSELL HART ran wide on the turn and lost ground. Into the home straight CHARLIE'S CHOICE clipped the rear of MARY MARLOW who lost momentum.
Race 12	justracing.com.au - C5 - 390	Into the turn FIREMAN'S ESCORT ran outwards checking FINN MCMISSILE and forcing STING ME and ROSCA wide. OSCAR TUIVASA was also checked as a result and lost ground.
Race 13	Non Tote C1 Tiered Sprint - Tier 2 - 390	Into the turn RUBY'S GIRL checked out off TANTO'S WHISPER and forced SHADOW WOLF wide.
Race 14	NON-TOTE C1 TIERED SPRINT - Tier 2 - 390	MISS OZARK and CHARLES FREDRICK were slow to begin. BOWMAN ran wide rounding the turn. CHARLES FREDRICK shifted outwards leaving the bend and checked MERELY A DREAM. BOWMAN continued to run wide throughout the home straight.
