Race 1 christchurchgreyhounds.co.nz Sprint - C3 - 295 KNOW CHARITY (3) and OPAWA LEGS (4) were the last pair on jumping. SHEZA GAMBLE (5) and BLUE GALE RISE (2) were both tightened into the bend and lost ground. SALUTE TO RADAR (7) was checked soon after and lost ground with MUM'S PRODIGY (8) being badly inconvenienced in behind and dropping to the rear.
Race 2 TotalPos Solutions dash - C3 - 295 OPAWA WALLY (8) was last to jump with the two favourites KERAMUS (4) and STAR DREAMER (6) also settling well back. BUSINESS PLAN (9) shifted up the track on the home turn forcing an improving KERAMUS over extra ground. Trainer M Flipp was questioned in regards to the improved performance of the winner MEMPHIS HOTCAKES (7). She stated that the bitch had been freshened and was suited by the wider box draw tonight.
Race 3 Allied Auto Bodies Stakes - C3 - 520 CAWBOURNE POLLY (5) shifted outwards in the early stages contacting GAME GIRL (8) for a stride. BEADMAN (3) ran outwards into the first bend pushing CAWBOURNE POLLY wider on the track. CAWBOURNE POLLY then angled back down and checked ADULTEROUS (4) for a stride. Into the back straight ADULTEROUS was tightened between runners and dropped to the rear. BEADMAN continued to race wide for the duration of the race.
Race 4 Truck Stops NZ Ltd Dash - C4 - 295 WILL EXCITE (4) was last on settling. HOT MANGO (5) ran inwards in the back straight and made firm contact with the rail with this bitch being referred to the vet for assessment. KNOW WISDOM (2) was tightened into the bend and lost ground. DILLMANSTOWN (1) checked off heels on the home turn and dropped back through the field with KNOW WISDOM, HOT MANGO and WILL EXCITE all losing ground when taking evasive action.
Race 5 Unilec Ltd Stakes - C4 - 520 GLASSES UP (2), PSEUDONYM (7) and BOTANY SEATON (8) were the last trio from the traps. The favourite OPAWA NO EAR (1) was badly tightened into the first bend and lost ground, running out in the process causing a check to CAWBOURNE WITCH (3) with SPEEDY KAZZA (4) and BOTANY SEATON being forced wide. The co-trainer of the winner J Lane was questioned in regards to the significantly improved performance of OPAWA STYLE (5). He stated that the bitch races best when able to get to the lead and tonight was aided by the incident on the first bend in behind her which enabled her to obtain a clear margin.
Race 6 Precise Irrigation Distance - C2d - 645 LOCHINVAR CAMARO (1) and KNOW REVENGE (2) were the slowest from the traps. LOCHINVAR CAMARO then ran very wide into the first bend and lost many lengths. JINJA POWER (7) came together with PINDARI (4) on the first bend. With a lap to go BIGTIME KELINA (3) checked outwards colliding with KNOW REVENGE and SAHARA STORM (8) who lost ground. SAHARA STORM was referred to the vet for assessment.
Race 7 Contec Sprint - C5 - 295 WANDY GRANT (2) stumbled after a couple of strides and settled last. KNOW FAVOURS (4) ran wide on the bend losing ground.
Race 8 Miles Group Xmas Chase - C5 - 520 KNOW ATTEMPT (5) and RUSSELL HART (9) were the last pair on jumping. CAWBOURNE PHILIP (2) ran outwards on the first bend checking FLYING MOE (3) who in turn checked ULTIMATE DREAM (7) on his outside.
Race 9 Addington Events Centre Dash - C5 - 295 WANDY BOILER (1) was last to jump. KNOW MISTAKE (4) became awkwardly placed to the outside of CAWBOURNE JELLY (3) into the turn and took a heavy fall. KNOW MISTAKE ran to the lure and was referred to the vet for assessment with no injury being detected.
Race 10 Christchurch Wool Dumpers Stakes - C4/5 - 520 The favourite KNOW CLASS (2) was a clear last on jumping. STOLEN MONEY (3) and CHARLIE'S CHOICE (7) collided into the first bend with OPAWA JED (4) checking outwards off the back of CHARLIE'S CHOICE and losing a length. KNOW CLASS was badly held up at the end of the back straight and got on the heels of OPAWA WEBBY (5) who lost ground. KNOW CLASS lost momentum at this stage before finishing strongly for second.
Race 11 Prendos New Zealand Ltd Dash - C5 - 295 KNOW THOUGHT (1) was the last from the traps. COOL BEAR (6) received a severe check into the bend and lost ground impeding the trailing KNOW THOUGHT. KNOW THOUGHT ran wide on the home turn.
Race 12 Merry Christmas Sprint - C4 - 295 RED CARPET (1) was last to jump. KETUT (6) ran very wide on the home turn and lost a few lengths and his winning chance. Trainer R Adcock attributed the improved performance of the winner DYNAMIC BLACK (4) to a downgrade from Class 5.
