Track: Good Track maintenance staff advised that both sets of starting boxes (390m and 457m) had work done to improve performance, with adjustments made to the hydraulic lifting mechanisms. The lure driver also slowed down the approach to the boxes to ensure that dogs were not seeing the lure for too long prior to the lids opening and the lure kept the required 5-8 metre distance. Prior to the start of Race 12 a spring on the 390m starting boxes needed replacement and start time was delayed several minutes.

Race 1	ASCOT PARK HOTEL - C1 - 390	PAYMENT DUE and JOEY'S SECRET were slow to jump. Into the turn PAYMENT DUE crossed and became unbalanced when checking the running of IVA CUNNING PLAN who lost ground. On the turn PAYMENT DUE checked out sharply off the heels of CAWBOURNE BEAU and forced IVA CUNNING PLAN wide.
Race 2	CENTRAL WATER CARRIERS - C1 - 390	From the jump THEOKOLES shifted ground inwards and checked MAX'S LAD who briefly stumbled. On the turn WORD FOR WORD checked off the heels of NEW INGILLTAB and checked the running of MAX'S LAD.
Race 3	ADDED ENERGY STAKES - C1 - 457	OPAWA IDOL and OPAWA HOG were slow to jump. In the run to the turn ADROIT and OPAWA TANIA bumped and ADROIT shifted ground outwards checking OPAWA IDOL. Into the bend as the field came together JOYVILLE was tightened and went backwards. On the turn ADROIT checked off the heels of OPAWA HOG and went wide.
Race 4	Mervyn Eade Memorial Rookie Run Heats - C0q - 457 Heat 1	From the jump ROBBIE shifted inwards and tightened HOMEBUSH MAGIC, CEE ACH GEE and SPEEDY SWEDE. Into the turn SPEEDY SWEDE checked off the rear of CEE ACH GEE. SAILORS COLLAR raced wide throughout.
Race 5	Mervyn Eade Memorial Rookie Run Heats - C0q - 457 Heat 2	COSMIC CHOICE was a shade slow to start. Into the turn FINANCE TOMMO checked outwards off CHURCHILL CHASER forcing COSMIC CHOICE and TOTALLY TOASTED wide on the bend.
Race 6	Mervyn Eade Memorial Rookie Run Heats - C0q - 457 Heat 3	TEPIRITA ENFORCE, WALDO BAXTER and STRING THEORY were slow to jump. In the run to the turn OZARKS DAUGHTER and STRING THEORY made heavy contact on several occasions with OZARK'S DAUGHTER becoming unbalanced and running wide on the turn before tailing off to finish a distant last. OZARK'S DAUGHTER was referred to the vet for assessment which revealed no abnormalities.
Race 7	Mervyn Eade Memorial Rookie Run Heats - C0q - 457 Heat 4	OPAWA LEAN MEAT and SPILT WINE were slow to jump. From the jump CAWBOURNE ONYX shifted sharply downwards and checked CASY'S RAIDA. Into the turn JINJA TURTLE when improving clipped the rear of OPAWA GOODIE who was pushed wide by SPILT WINE. JINJA TURTLE fell heavily taking no further part in the race. and after the race was referred to the vet for assessment.
Race 8	Mervyn Eade Memorial Rookie Run Heats - C0q - 457 Heat 5	LEANNE'S PICK stood high in the starting boxes and was very slow to jump. From the jump DOLEUZE shifted inwards striking OPAWA DARK and stumbling heavily, checking CAWBOURNE WAR. Into the turn BLOSSOM CHERIE shifted outwards briefly making contact with TEPIRITA SNOOP. OPAWA DARK ran out die on the turn when free of interference and lost ground.
Race 9	www.southlandgreyhounds.co.nz - C2 - 390	Racing into the bend LA FONTAINE and STOCK TAKER made contact on several occasions. On the bend SOME SAY shifted inwards onto LA FONTAINE with STOCK TAKER being severely checked when racing between these two runners. SOME SAY continued to shift inwards with a resulting check to LA FONTAINE. SMASH DORA checked off LA FONTAINE just prior to the home straight.
Race 10	www.charlotteandsam.co.nz - C2 - 457	From the jump THRILLING JONAH shifted outwards and checked OPAWA ALBIE and then in the run to the turn THRILLING JONAH made contact with BOTANY SEATON and lost ground. On the turn OPAWA MARG ran wide. Short of the winning post OPAWA MARG crossed and tightened OPAWA ALBIE who fell but regained his feet to finish. After the race OPAWA ALBIE was referred to the vet for assessment which revealed no injury.
Race 11	SOUTHLAND & OTAGO PHOTO FINISH - C3 - 390	Race start time was put back two minutes at the request of Raceday Control. From the jump KETUT, HOMEBUSH HAYLEY, SMASH AMEGO and EMILY PATRICK all came together. Shortly afterwards TURBO TUNDRA ran downwards and struck EMILY PATRICK. Into the turn EMILY PATRICK was tightened between runners and lost ground. On the bend WANDY FEATHER shifted inwards and made heavy contact with TURBO TUNDRA with WANDY FEATHER stumbling and almost losing her feet. Both TURBO TUNDRA and EMILY PATRICK were checked as a result with EMILY PATRICK forced to leap over WANDY FEATHER.
Race 12	justracing.com.au - C5 - 390	Race start time was delayed 10 minutes due to the replacement of a faulty spring on the starting boxes. At the jump BUCK ALEC ran outwards and checked STIRLING DANN and OUR BEOWULF. Into the turn OSCAR TUIVASA shifted downwards and checked MARY MARLOW. Racing around the turn FINN MCMISSILE struck the hindquarters of MARY MARLOW.
