Weather: Fine
Track: Good Strong winds were prevalent during the meeting today. The club was unable to use a water cart for the first 6 races due to a mechanical problem. The fixed sprinklers were used to help track conditions in the early races. This resulted in the track surface being slightly inconsistent but safe during the early races.
Scales: Correct at 10 and 20 kgs
Health and Safety comment:

Judicial report: Several handlers were reprimanded over non compliance with the club's dress policy.

Race 1	CENTRAL WATER CARRIERS - C0 - 390	FANTA'S FICTION began awkwardly and was very slow to get in to stride. SPILT WINE was slow to begin. JOEY'S SECRET, PAYMENT DUE and ROSE BOW all made heavy contact just after the start with PAYMENT DUE losing ground. JOEYS SECRET and ROSE BOW jostled racing towards the bend with both runners losing momentum.
Race 2	BRENDON BURKE @ FIRST NATIONAL - C1 - 390	From the jump SAM'S FLYIN NORM shifted outwards and checked ALL TOO HARD. Well into the bend BLACK TANK lost ground when checked by ALL TOO HARD.
Race 3	SOUTHLAND & OTAGO PHOTO FINISH - C1 - 390	COSMIC ECHO and SMASH RUMOUR were slow to begin. COSMIC ECHO ran very wide on the bend into the home straight.
Race 4	ADDED ENERGY - C0 - 457	VIENNA, OPAWA HOG, JIBBAJABBA JEWEL and HOMEBUSH FALINE were all slow to begin. JIBBAJABBA JEWEL and HOMEBUSH FALINE jostled down the back straight. Racing towards the bend TEPIRITA ZITA shifted in checking HOMEBUSH TITAN.
Race 5	WILLY'S FLOORING LTD - C1 - 457	TANTO'S WHISPER was slow to begin. ZULU BRO shifted in at the start making firm contact with STARBURST BENNY. STARBURST BENNY then shifted ground outwards hampering ZULU BRO. CAWBOURNE POLLY and TANTO'S WHISPER jostled throughout the back straight.
Race 6	100% SELECTRIX - C2 - 390	MAX'S LAD and FINGER POP were slow to begin. GLENN IS GOODSEY and SHIRAZ ROSE jostled down the back straight. Racing towards the bend PUKEKO THUNDER who was shifting ground outwards clipped the rear of GLENN IS GOODSEY. PUKEKO THUNDER continued to shift outwards clipping SHIRAZ ROSE who fell and lost its chance. SHIRAZ ROSE completed the race and was then checked by the on course veterinarian which revealed no abnormalities.
Race 7	SGRC $26 FIVE WIRE MUZZLES - C2/3 - 390	COSMIC GALAXY was squeezed between runners at the start losing some momentum..
Race 8	www.southlandgreyhounds.co.nz - C4 - 390	JUMPIN' JULIA stumbled when jumping away. From the jump MISS SWEET ran inwards and forced TEPIRITA RITA into the path of JUMPIN' JULIA who lost ground.
Race 9	HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRENDON BURKE - C2/3 - 457	BONE NERD was slow to begin. Racing down the back straight COVER TO COVER has shifted in making firm contact with CAWBOURNE KESHA. Approaching the bend. CABOUL lost momentum when having to shift ground outwards when awkwardly placed on the heels of COVER TO COVER. BEADMAN ran very wide in the run home. Stewards spoke with the connections of CABOUL in relation to the seemingly disappointing performance. Connections advised they had been expecting a forward showing but it had been apparent the dogs performance was only fair on its first visit to Ascot Park.
Race 10	ASCOT PARK HOTEL - C2 - 457	BLUSHING BELLE began awkwardly losing ground. Racing into the bend SEA SPRAY DORIS shifted out making contact with OPAWA ROMEO twice. PUKEKO PROWLER shifted ground outwards on the home turn forcing SEA SPRAY DORIS wider on the track. The trailing BLUSHING BELLE and BOTANY SEATON were also checked as a result.
Race 11	COLORMARK SYSTEMS LTD - C4 - 457	FLYING MOE began very awkwardly losing considerable ground. BOB'S EYE and HOMEBUSH IRIS jostled in the run down the back straight.
Race 12	JUSTRACING.COM.AU - C5 - 390	LITTLE MIDNIGHT shifted in at the start making firm contact with ROSCA. Racing towards the bend ROSCA was tightened between runners and lost ground.
