TEEVEE KIMBA (3) and NOBLE FANTASY (1) came together shortly after the start and bumped for several strides. HOT TEA (7) shifted down the track in the opening stages crowding the racing room of TEEVEE GIDGET (6) ZULU DEB shifted ground outwards on the last bend and in doing so took HOT TEA wider with this dog then having to check back towards the inside.

CLAREMONT DIVE (7) ran inwards after the jump and caused considerable tightening to WELLYWOOD (6), MUSTANG MAGZ (5) and GO NOLA (2) GO NOLA moved outwards leaving the turn and bumped WELLYWOOD causing it to race wider. WELLYWOOD fell heavily at the lure and so was sent to be examined by the Vet however no injuries were detected. When questioned with regards to the improved performance of MULBERRY BROOK, trainer K Cassidy explained that the dog had recently been hindered by bad box draws and today his runner been able to take advantage from a good draw and gain a beneficial trip throughout.
Race 4 Amber Cleaning Services Stakes - C0 - 520 OPAWA CHILL (4), OPAWA CHRIS (6), OPAWA LAUREN (7), and OPAWA TANIA (8) were all slow to begin Racing into the first turn OPAWA CHILL shifted outwards and bumped with OPAWA CHRIS costing both dogs some momentum. When attempting to shift down across the heels of OPAWA LAUREN entering the back straight OPAWA TANIA made contact with this dogs hind legs causing both runners to blunder for a stride.
Race 5 Chris & Lisa Earl Dash - C1 - 295 There was a delay to the dogs for this race being boxed away while a duck was removed from the track. STAR GUN (3) was slow in the initial stages. MULBERRY HUNTER (6) and CANVAS RIDER (7) were squeezed out of their racing positions between BELFAST SUZY (4) and MAMALULU (8) in the run into the turn with the two affected dogs losing ground. When questioned with regards to the improved performance of HOMEBUSH ESME, kennel representative J McInerney explained that this dog had recently gained a drop back and had been able to enjoy an interference free run on the pace throughout.
Race 6 Islington Tavern Stakes - C1 - 520 OPAWA CASSIDY (7) and KNOW FUN (8) were the last to jump. OPAWA NATTY (2) raced in restricted room in the first straight when positioned to the inside of OPAWA ROMEO (6) which was shifting down the track. CABOUL (1) and OPAWA ROMEO bumped on several occasions in the early stages when competing for the front. Stewards investigated the racing manners of OPAWA ROMEO on the first turn when one film appeared to show the dog turning its head inwards towards the leading CABOUL. Films showed it was clear that OPAWA ROMEO was intent on taking a position on the rails and was placing considerable pressure on CABOUL in an attempt to achieve this. On reviewing all angles it was not able to be determined whether the dog had turned it's head to make contact with CABOUL or only to continue to shift down the track. After considering all factors, with particular emphasis on the films being inconclusive Stewards took no action against the dog.
Race 7 Dave Robbie Photographer Sprint - C1 - 295 FLIRT WITH ME (5) and ALL TOO HARD (4) were slow in the early stages. OHOKA HART (6) and GOLDSTAR JEANIE (7) bumped on several occasions racing into the turn. BLUSHING BELLE (8) shifted down the track in the first straight eventually colliding with GYPSY HUNTER (6) who was taken down onto KNOW FUTURE (3) with these dogs being checked. OPAWA LEANNE (1) which was racing in close proximity to these dogs also received some slight interference. OPAWA LEANNE ran wide in the back straight and again in the home straight. KNOW FUTURE was unable to progress on the final turn when held up between WHITE LEGS (4) and OPAWA LEANNE. When questioned with regards to the improved performance of COVER TO COVER, kennel representative S Barber explained that the dog was having it's first start back in C1 due to a downgrade and also that it had responded well to an increased and altered training regime.
Race 9 Clarkson Sign Studio Dash - C1 - 295 PETRA HAKA (3) and NITRO EXPRESS (7) were slow to begin. Shortly after the start NITRO EXPRESS bumped ZED KAY MAN (5). Immediately prior to entering the bend PETRA HAKA became awkwardly placed between AIR FLOW (1) and TWISTER AL (6) with PETRA HAKA being squeezed out of it's racing position and losing ground sharply. Due to this the trailing NITRO EXPRESS and HOMEBUSH NOS (8) were checked and had to shift ground. When questioned with regards to the improved performance of JET EVEN, trainer A WIlliams explained that the dog had taken considerable benefit from it's first run off the back of a month long spell and had added that todays draw combined with the rails run it had been afforded had all assisted its performance. Mr Williams further added that he felt JET EVEN had now reached it's optimal weight which he considered a significant contributing factor.
Race 10 christchurchgreyhounds.co.nz Stakes - C1 - 520 MISS ISABELLA was a late scratching at kennelling with pain in a left wrist. OUT BACK BILL (6) and BANK ROLLER (4) were slow to begin. At about the 300 metres OPAWA PEARL (3) galloped on the hind legs of THRILLING SOUND (5) who was attempting to cross to the rails ahead of it. HANNAH (9) was sent to be examined by the Vet due to being unable to hold it's place in the field and failing to race competitively throughout. No abnormalities were detected. When questioned regarding the run of this dog, trainer B Shaw advised that HANNAH will now be retired into the GAP programme.
