Judicial report: Trainer Karen Walsh reported that THRILLING BRAT was found to have strained a hock following his run at Wanganui on Friday night. The intention is now to give the dog a brief spell and aim him at the Kingston Cup in Christchurch. Trainer Ron O'Regan was questioned in regards to his late kennelling of his Race 12 dogs. His explanation was accepted on this occasion but he was reminded of his obligations to report any situation which may cause his lateness in future. HAUKO, which had qualified for the C5 final, was withdrawn prior to the box draw being made. HAUKO was presented to the vet and found to have hip support and fibula pain and was stood down until 19 August.

Race 1	Bright Star Sprint - C5 - 318	ALABASTER (6) angled inwards in the back straight tightening KIWI GIRL (4) for a stride. KIWI GIRL then ran outwards pushing SECRET STAR (9) wider into the bend.
Race 2	AGRC Rewards Sprint - C0 - 318	VERSATILE RICHIE (3) came up with the lids and settled last. PALU (6) ran sharply inwards in the back straight colliding with his kennelmate LARTO (1) who was running outwards with this pair dropping to the rear. REBEL CITY (5) angled off the rail on the bend and checked BREAKTHRU (8) for a stride. REBEL CITY then shifted up the track on the home turn pushing ONE WAY PAEROA (7) over extra ground.
Race 3	Sel's TAB Mangere Sprint - C1 - 318	COOL TIME (5) was last to jump. JETSUN JULES (1) was tightened into the bend as WHEEZY APPEAL (4) crossed to the rail. RUN MISCHIEF RUN (2) checked outwards soon after checking CAWBOURNE BANKSY (3) and LOCKLINNE (7) with this trio losing ground. COOL TIME checked off the heels of CAWBOURNE BANKSY and lost momentum on that bend. KNOCK KNOCK LADY (8) ran wide on the home turn losing ground.
Race 4	NZ Graduation Heat 1 - NZRSq - 527 Heat 1	OPAWA CRUSHER (8) and THRILLING TREMOR (4) were the last pair on jumping. ALAMEIN JAH (6) checked outwards on the first bend and lost a length. HOT POOTIE (2) was tightened in the back straight and lost a length.
Race 5	Lachlan's Cash Stakes - C1 - 527	The favourite LOCHINVAR BRANDO (3) was the last to jump. TATA SAFARI (7) and ALPINADOR (8) came together for a stride in the early stages. REALON ROSE (2) received a check into the first bend as LOCHINVAR BRANDO angled inwards with REALON ROSE losing a length. On that bend BOSS APPEAL (4) and SASHA'S ONE (6) brushed together for a stride.
Race 6	NZ Graduation Heat 2 - NZRSq - 527 Heat 2	SYDILICIOUS (2) was last to clear the traps. ALL IN ALL (6) and STAR BOUND (8) came together for a few strides into the first bend.
Race 7	$20,000 Pick6 Sprint - C4 - 318	THRILLING ABRA (1) was last to jump. KINETIC NEO (5) angled inwards in the back straight tightening CRIXUS (4) , WINSOME BUSTER (2) and THRILLING ABRA with this trio dropping to the rear.
Race 8	MTA Gift Vouchers Stakes - C1/2 - 527	BELRANI (7) was the slowest from the traps. PEARL TIARA (3) ran inwards on the first bend checking SHARK BITE (2) who lost ground. SHARK BITE then ran wide in the back straight dropping out to last. PEARL TIARA was badly checked at the end of the back straight when improving to the inside of HAIR HE IS (1) with PEARL TIARA losing considerable momentum at this point. Linda Martin the trainer of the winner WABI SABI when questioned in regards to his improved performance stated that the dog prefers the confined space of the Manukau track with the dog always racing well at this venue. SHARK BITE was referred to the vet for assessment.
Race 9	$5K Bonus Quaddie Sprint - C2 - 318	SECTIONED (6) was a clear last on jumping. BON VOGUE (3) checked off the back of TECHNO TACHO (4) into the bend with this pair dropping to the rear. BON VOGUE ran wide on the home turn losing ground.
Race 10	Thrilling Brat Stakes - C3/4 - 527	It was noticed just prior to the event that due to a misunderstanding the TAB showed the reserves coming out of the wrong boxes. Stewards confirmed with the Club Manager that the order confirmed with the Trainers of the Reserves dogs and shown in the on-course racebook was correct ie MAKINEN (9) from Box 8 and JEMBO (10) from Box 4. CRACKLES APPEAL (6) was last to jump. KATCHA FIRE (7) checked off JETSUN FLAME (1) on the first bend which forced LOCHINVAR SONIC (2) wider on the track. In the back straight CRACKLES APPEAL checked off the back of KATCHA FIRE with this pair losing ground. Following the race JEMBO was referred to the vet for assessment.
Race 11	Carol's TABs Series FInal - C5f - 318	HARVEY NICHOLS (1) was last to jump. In the back straight LIFE'S A DREAM (6) ran inwards checking CALAMITY FREE (5) while EXPLOSIVE OSTI (3) angled outwards contacting DOUBLE MAGIC (4) for a stride. VERSATILITY (9) was tightened into the bend and lost ground. On the home turn CALAMITY FREE checked outwards off DOUBLE MAGIC when these runners were well back.
Race 12	Jack's Wholesale Meats Sprint - C3 - 318	GEM'S CONQUEST (1) and COCKY APPEAL (9) were the last pair from the traps. THIS IS SWIP (3) was tightened into the bend by LOCKEY'S CALL (5) with BOSS LADY SLOY receiving a check and losing ground. GEM'S CONQUEST ran outwards pushing COCKY APPEAL very wide.
