From the jump POISED BOY and FLYING BLAKE came together and lost momentum, while STAR DREAMER ran inwards and checked the running of CAWBOURNE ZAC and LOOPTASTIC. Into the turn POISED BOY shifted down on GLENN IS GOODESY with GROOVY LEO tightened and checks also to CAWBOURNE ZAC and LOOPTASTIC. |
| Race 2 | BRENDON BURKE @ FIRST NATIONAL - C1 - 390 | MISS FIT, HARES HOPING, and FOGGY STORM were all slow to jump and finished back in the field. |
| Race 3 | CENTRAL WATER CARRIERS - C0 - 390 | From the jump SUPREME SHELLEEN shifted sharply inwards and checked the running of IONA BRIGHTSPARK and SAM'S FLYIN NORM with OPAWA NIKO forced to run outwards behind those runners. In the run to the turn SUPREME SHELLEEN continued to run inwards and check SAM'S FLYIN NORM, while RINGA DING pushed outwards and impeded SHAVENIA. Into the turn JACK'S A JEWEL shifted inwards and was struck from behind initially by CAWBOURNE CHIEF and then by SHAVENIA. On the turn RINGA DING moved outwards and checked the running of JACK'S A JEWEL. Stewards reviewed the running of the race and in particular the performance of JACK'S A JEWEL to determine if there had been a failure to pursue, but in light of the significant interference in the running of this maiden race and the fact that JACK'S A JEWEL was struck from behind twice in the running no further action was deemed necessary by Stewards. |
| Race 4 | SOUTHLAND & OTAGO PHOTO FINISH - C1 - 390 | HAZZA'S GOT SWAG jumped awkwardly and then collided with TAIERI PLAINS shortly thereafter with both dogs losing momentum. On the turn TAIERI PLAINS checked outwards off the rear of BOLT RAMA and lost ground. |

From the jump and in the run to the turn OPAWA RUFUS and RED TYPHOON came together solidly with both dogs losing ground. Into the turn RED TYPHOON clipped the heels of OPAWA RUFUS who then ran wide and finished well back. OPAWA RUFUS was referred to the Vet for assessment. |

Into the turn THRILLING CLOVER ran outwards checking DYNA FRIER and forcing HOMEBUSH CRAIG wide on the turn. After the race CAWBOURNE SPEAR was referred to the vet for assessment for an injury. |
| Race 10 | COLORMARK SYSTEMS - C2 - 457 | NO LANE was slow to jump and shortly afterwards came into contact with STARBURST CLEMMY. In the run to the turn both dogs came together again losing momentum, and into the turn STARBURST CLEMMY shifted inwards several checking NO LANE and SIXTY TWENTY with the trailing MY LITTLE OAH also checked. On the turn NO LANE ran outwards and forced THRILLING JONAH wide, with BUGSY BANGLES also running wide. |

Into the turn ANOTHER JEWEL ran inwards and came into contact with PICK THE TIP with SLIGHTLY AMAZING severely checked along with the trailling SMASH AMEGO. In the home straight SMASH AMEGO clipped the rear of HANNAH with that dog losing ground. |
