Weather: Fine
Track: Good The track was presented in good order and with all equipment working well, the meeting proceeded smoothly but unfortunately there were a number of serious Greyhound injuries which is always disappointing. However, it is difficult to pinpoint any particular reason for todays injury toll but I don't personally believe that the condition of the track was to blame.
Scales: Checked and correct
Health and Safety comment: Nil

Judicial report: There were a few kennel cough scratchings but the recent outbreak does seem to be easing numbers wise and perhaps it is approaching time for Stewards to discuss and re-assess the decision to only require one Vet Certificate per kennel for dogs suffering from the cough.

Race 1	WOODVILLE SPRINT C1 - C1 - 375	FIRE BOY BAXTER was the slowest to begin but he made up ground well to win the race. EVIE'S FIRE shifted out going into the bend and forced PHANTOM HAKA and KEZZ wide on the bend over extra ground and they finished at the rear. EVIES FIRE and WHERE'S CHICKEN came together over the final few strides and EVIE'S FIRE lost ground which possibly cost her the chance of finishing in 3rd place instead of 4th. PHANTOM HAKA suffered a toe injury and was stood down for 14 days.
Race 2	AWAPUNI RACEWAY DASH C1 - C1 - 375	HOMEBUSH LACEY was slow to begin and settled at the rear where she remained throughout the race. REBEL JOE shifted in soon after the start and collided with THRILLING CLOUD with both losing ground. They came together again on the bend and again lost ground but THRILLING CLOUD recovered the best of the two and she finished in 3rd place.
Race 3	SPARKY'S BAR AND RESTAURANT C1/2 - C1/2 - 375	BOSS MAN SLOY shifted in going to the first corner forcing HELLO ELLO inwards and this resulted in checks to HAIR SHE IS and SAND BUSTER who both lost ground. HELLO ELLO and KAZILLION were handy approaching the home turn but were checked losing ground and KAZILLION went back onto THRILLING JINGLE who appeared to suffer an injury in the incident and dropped out to finish several lengths last. She was examined by the Vet and euthanased due to suffering from a hock injury.
Race 4	J P PRINT, PETONE C1/2 - C1/2 - 375	FLAYOSC was slow to begin losing two lengths. FLAYOSC and NICKI HAKA were checked going to the first corner losing three lengths and soon after FLAYOSC galloped on the back of HOMEBUSH WARRIOR who fell and failed to finish . He was examined by the Vet and stood down for 21 days with a shoulder injury.
Race 5	MANAWATU RACEWAY SPRINT C4 - C4 - 375	WHAT A PEANUT, THRILLING BUDDY and CAWBOURNE TANK were slow to begin losing three lengths. CHEMICALLY FREE shifted out going to the corner and forced EVER SO HOPEFUL and CAWBOURNE TANK wide on the bend. EVER SO HOPEFUL was not striding out correctly after the incident, finishing in last place. He was examined by the Vet and cleared of injury.
Race 6	PETER SINCLAIR PHOTO FINISH C1/2 - C1/2 - 375	OPAWA GIFT was the slowest to begin and settled back and she lost further ground when jostling with HOMEBUSH ROSEBUD going into the bend and they stayed back to finish at the rear. RAVEON, HOMEBUSH ROSEBUD and BLACK MERCEDES came together and bumped losing ground soon after the start.
Race 7	CLOVERLEA STAKES C2/3 - C2/3 - 457	TALK IT OVER, PAR, THRILLING TUNE and GO BOOF were all slow to begin losing two lengths. BIGTIME KAREN was checked on the bend losing two lengths but recovered to finish well and win the race. TALK IT OVER was also checked on the bend and he then ran wide over extra ground and finished in last place.
Race 8	FOXTON DASH C3 - C3 - 375	OPAWA THORN faltered free of interferance soon after entering the home straight and dropped out to finish several lengths last. He was examined by the Vet and stood down for 42 days with a hock injury.
Race 9	MARTON DASH C5 - C5 - 375	One of the favourites ATE POWER was awkwardly placed between MINDARIVA and HOWLIN WIND going to the first corner and lost ground. He was hampered and lost ground again on the bend when making contact with MINDARIVA and finished in 2nd last place.
Race 10	RACINGDOGS.CO.NZ C1 - C1 - 457	THRILLING GRACE faltered and went off stride soon after jumping from the boxes and she took no further part in the race. THRILLING GRACE was examined by the Vet and stood down for 42 days with a hock injury.
Race 11	SHANNON STAKES C4/5 - C4/5 - 457	REGAL DANCER shifted in from the start and checked CHELSEAS BEAUTY and BIGTIME WHIZZ who both lost ground, settled at the rear and stayed there for the remainder of the race.
