FIRE BOY BAXTER was the slowest to begin but he made up ground well to win the race. EVIE'S FIRE shifted out going into the bend and forced PHANTOM HAKA and KEZZ wide on the bend over extra ground and they finished at the rear. EVIES FIRE and WHERE'S CHICKEN came together over the final few strides and EVIE'S FIRE lost ground which possibly cost her the chance of finishing in 3rd place instead of 4th. PHANTOM HAKA suffered a toe injury and was stood down for 14 days.

HOMEBUSH LACEY was slow to begin and settled at the rear where she remained throughout the race. REBEL JOE shifted in soon after the start and collided with THRILLING CLOUD with both losing ground. They came together again on the bend and again lost ground but THRILLING CLOUD recovered the best of the two and she finished in 3rd place.

HELLO ELLO and KAZILLION were handy approaching the home turn but were checked losing ground and KAZILLION went back onto THRILLING JINGLE who appeared to suffer an injury in the incident and dropped out to finish several lengths last. She was examined by the Vet and euthanased due to suffering from a hock injury.
