Weather: Cloudy
Track: Good The weather conditions were fine early in the meeting but became cloudy and then turned to heavy rain later in the evening. The track was presented in very good order, particularly considering the recent heavy rain in the area over the previous night and some very good times were registered by some very high class Greyhounds. The meeting proceeded smoothly with a very large crowd in attendance to enjoy the evening.

Judicial report: The inquiry which was opened and adjourned into the scratching of reserve dog DYNA BROWNLOW at Manawatu on 03.12.12 was reconvened and concluded with no further action being taken. However, Roberts kennel representative Mr C Roberts was spoken to by the Steward in Charge regarding the matter and also regarding the scratching of reserve Greyhounds from todays meeting after being advised by the Clubs Raceday Secretary that reserve dogs WALK DA TALK in race 7 and MAGIC MAGGIE in race 9 had made the fields after scratchings. The dogs were not presented to race which is a breach of the Rules but no action was taken on this occasion as it was apparent that the Roberts kennels may have been led to believe that they were not required to present the dogs to race. However, going forward, the RIU Stewards will be strictly policing the Rule and any Trainer not presenting dogs to race after being advised by Clubs that their dog has entered the field from the reserves, and they do not have a valid reason not to run, will be subject to charges and the penalties available within the Rules.

Race 1	Crombie Lockwood (NZ Ltd) C4 - C4 - 305	BOUND BY PRIDE, CAWBOURNE EMO and BIGTIME ALLGO were all slow to begin losing three lengths.
Race 2	Keenan Concrete C4 - C4 - 305	The eventual winner WEE DIGER drew box 8 and shifted in from the start and caused a chain reaction of bumping and jostling which inconvenienced all other runners and they lost varying amounts of ground with CAWBOURNE TANK the most affected.
Race 3	Brad Canty Dash For Cash C5 Ht1 Gp2 - C5q - 305 Heat 1	CIAO FOR NOW and SEE TO BELIEVE came together and bumped soon after the start and both lost some momentum. CIAO FOR NOW then covered extra ground by racing wide on the bend and he finished in last place.
Race 4	Brad Canty Dash For Cash C5 Ht2 Gp2 - C5q - 305 Heat 2	ATE POWER and FLYING JOJO were slow to begin losing two lengths. ATE POWER shifted in and brushed the rail losing a little momentum going into the first corner but recovered to finish in 3rd place. SASSAFRAS shifted out going into the bend and inconvenienced BIGTIME KINVARA for a few strides and SASSAFRAS, BIGTIM KINVARA and FLYING JOJO bumped together entering the home straight when racing at thye rear and they finished in the last three places.
Race 5	Brad Canty Dash For Cash C5 Ht3 Gp2 - C5q - 305 Heat 3	CAWBOURNE COOKIE shifted in from the start and hampered ANOTHER HIT who lost ground and settled back. COPLICIT checked over the heels of KNOW MISTAKE going into the bend and shifted out hampering CAWBOURNE COOKIE and CHELSEA'S BEAUTY who were forced wide and they stayed back to finish in the rear group.
Race 6	Brad Canty Dash For Cash C5 Ht4 Gp2 - C5q - 305 Heat 4	FREDDIE BAXTER, SANDS OF TIME and ANOTHER LADY were slow to begin losing two lengths. SANDS OF TIME was inconvenienced going into the bend when racing between FREDDIE BAXTER and SOSAN and he lost ground and stayed back to finish in last place.
Race 7	racingdogs.co.nz Spion Rose C5 Ht1 Gp1 - C5q - 520 Heat 1	The favourite BRIGHTON BULLET was one of the slowest to begin and he then bumped with BOB'S EYE on the first corner losing momentum for a few strides. BOBS EYE checked over the heels of KOKO WHIZ approaching the home straight and shifted out checking LACHLAN'S CASH and BRIGHTON BULLET.
Race 8	racingdogs.co.nz Spion Rose C5 Ht2 Gp1 - C5q - 520 Heat 2	ANOTHER BREEZE, RILEY'S MATE, MINT POWER and BENNY ROX jostled together for several strides soon after the start and settled at the rear. THRILLING QUEST shifted in going to the first corner and hampered SAM I AM who lost ground and soon after MINT POWER moved through on the inside and SAM I AM was again checked and went back to last and he finished in that position. SAM I AM made firm contact with the rail after the finish line and he was examined by the Vet and cleared of injury.
Race 9	racingdogs.co.nz Spion Rose C5 Ht3 Gp1 - C5q - 520 Heat 3	RUSSELL HART raced a little wide covering extra ground throughout the race but held on well for 3rd placing.
Race 10	racingdogs.co.nz Spion Rose C5 Ht4 Gp1 - C5q - 520 Heat 4	THRILLING BLITZ shifted in going into the first bend and hampered DARLYNE OTTEY who went back and collided with DYNA GROLL with both dogs losing ground but DYNA GROLL was the most affected losing several lengths and they stayed back to finish in the last two places.
Race 11	Brad Canty Dash For Cash C5 Ht5 Gp2 - C5q - 305 Heat 5	FLAG WAVER, RIPPED JEANS and INISHFREE were a little slow to begin losing two lengths. FLAG WAVER was then hampered going to the first corner when outside runners shifted in and she lost two lengths. Soon after, RIPPED JEANS was checked losing three lengths and he never recovered.
Race 12	Brad Canty Dash For Cash C5 Ht6 Gp2 - C5q - 305 Heat 6	ENAZUMA was the slowest to begin but recovered well to finish in 3rd place. HOMEBUSH HELEN shifted in sharply from the start and caused a chain reaction of bumping and checks to JUMPIN JULIA, CAWBOURNE LEVI, ROSEMORE OSTI and STIFF and all lost ground and settled back.
