Track: Good The track and all other equipment was presented in very good order and the official opening of the new grandstand was held and the first Friday night of racing in the new facility was very successful.

Race 1	Absolutely Electrical Maiden Final - C0f - 520	MONKEY QUEEN jumped in the air as the box lids opened and she lost several lengths. The favourite JINJA JAM also began awkwardly losing several lengths but did make up some ground for 5th placing. BIG JOB JONESY shifted in going into the first bend and made firm contact with the rail and went back to last where she stayed to the finish. She was examined by the Vet and cleared of injury. SECRET ARNIE was also examined by the Vet and stood down for 10 days with a cut toe.
Race 2	Crombie Lockwood (NZ) Ltd C3 - C3 - 305	BELFAST KING shifted in from the start and checked COOL EXPLORER and GROOVY SHANE who both lost ground and settled back in the field. BELFAST KING was handy going into the bend but suffered an injury and took no further part in the race. BELFAST KING was examined by the Vet and found to have suffered a serious hock injury and was humanely euthanased at the Trainers request.
Race 3	Guthrie Bowron C3 - C3 - 305	All clear.
Race 4	Palamountains Nutrition C2 - C2 - 520	DIVA RHODE went up with the box lids and lost three lengths but made up ground to finish in 3rd place. DELUSIVE and SAMBUCCA bumped together going into the first bend and both lost a little momentum. DELUSIVE was stood down for 14 days with a split webbing .
Race 5	Broad Roofing C4 - C4 - 305	JUST DEFY THAT who was reasonably well supported was having his first start for over three months and was a little slow to begin and settled at the rear. He then raced wide throughout over extra ground and finished in last place. ANOTHER BLEND shifted in going to the first corner and causing checks to CAWBOURNE TANK and OPAWA SACHA who both lost ground but they recovered to finish in 3rd and 4th places.
Race 6	MTA Wanganui Oaks Final - R/Af - 520	BIGTIME KAREN and INDI RHODE were a little slow to begin and settled at the rear. INDI RHODE made up ground well to finish in 2nd place.
Race 7	Box 1 C4 - C4 - 305	PICNIC TIME and SHEEZA MEESHA were slow to begin losing two lengths. PICNIC TIME shifted out on the first corner and ran wide into the bend forcing ANOTHER LEGIN and HOMEBUSH SARINA over extra ground and they finished in the last three places. WATERBUG shared the lead approaching the straight entrance but ran very wide losing ground and finished in 2nd place.
Race 8	Interislander C4 - C4 - 305	RIBA LORDA was slow to begin losing two lengths but she made up ground to finish in 4th place. ANOTHER MOVE appeared to have an awkward galloping action and finished in last place and was examined by the Vet and stood down for 21 days with a gracilus muscle injury.
Race 9	MTA Wanganui Derby Final - R/Af - 520	All clear.
Race 10	Keenan Concrete C3/4 - C3/4 - 520	BOTANY MATTHEW checked off the heels of THRILLING DEAL going into the first bend and lost four lengths. TAILS OFF was checked entering the final bend and went back to last and finished in that position.
Race 11	Mickey's Super Liquor C5 - C5 - 305	FREDDIE BAXTER shifted in going to the first corner and crowded INISHRUSH, FLYING FLYNN, ROADMANS SHACK and ATE PIZZA who all lost ground. FLYING FLYNN was the least affected and he recovered to finish in 2nd place. ROSEMORE OSTI checked off the back of JUMPIN JULIA going into the bend and went back to last and finished in that position. INISHRUSH and HOWLIN WIND jostled together in the home straight and lost momentum for a couple of strides.
Race 12	The Rock 95.2FM C5 - C5 - 305	WHAT A PEANUT was slow to begin losing two lengths. RANDO REASON shifted in from the start and caused checks to RIPPED JEANS and ARIANA but they recovered to run on well and finished in 2nd and 3rd places. BLACK COULDRON was buffetted for several strides going to the first corner and she lost ground and stayed back to finish in last place.
