Track: Heavy The meeting was conducted in appalling conditions with the track not able to be groomed between races but still providing safe footing. Stewards took these conditions into consideration when assessing performances throughout the day. The Trackside coverage was subject to abnormal atmospheric conditions making some replays very difficult to view.

Health and Safety comment:

Judicial report: ANOTHER SNAZZA (J McInerney) which was stood down at Addington on 31 August under Rule 68.26 was rechecked by the Veterinary Surgeon and found to be fit to race. Therefore under Rule 82.5 the stand down is rescinded. Trainers J Lane and R Wales were fined $100.00 under the Minor Infringements Table after OPAWA MIATA weighed in at 28.2 kgs which was 1.7 kgs under her last race weight on 28 August 2012.

Race 1 Otago First4 Maiden Sprint - C0 - 310 SEA SPOT RUN and JUSTA JET were the slowest from the traps. SECRET VENUS angled outwards at the end of the back straight with SEA SPOT RUN checking inwards and striking the rail losing many lengths with a post race veterinary check revealing no abnormalities. JUSTA JET ran very wide into the home straight. Just short of the line ROLLEM UP JOANY and MARMALADE SKIES came together when vying for a minor placing.
Race 2 C B Norwood Farm Machinery Stakes - C0 - 545 In an ordinary start ARCHIES DOLL and TIME FOR WHAT were the slowest to jump. OPAWA MOHAWK checked off the back TIME FOR WHAT into the bend and ran very wide along with OPAWA ZAC with these dogs losing a lot of ground. ARCHIES DOLL checked off the back of SECRET NICOLE into the first bend and lost ground. On the home turn OPAWA MOHAWK eased and dropped right away when some 80 metres from the lure. A post race veterinary check of OPAWA MOHAWK revealed no injury. After speaking to co-trainer Dave Fahey and taking into consideration the circumstances of the race Stewards decided that this dog must complete a satisfactory trial before next racing.
Race 3 www.greyhoundsaspets.org.nz - C0 - 310 AYKROYD was the last to jump. WANDY GAYLENE ran inwards in the early stages checking NEW INGILLTAB who dropped to the rear. On the home turn AYKROYD ran inwards checking firstly TOP PLAYER and then BLUE SHORTS who both lost momentum.
Race 4 Ozark Kennels Sprint - C1 - 310 DRIVE FIVE ran inwards in the back straight with RUBYS GIRL, RANGITOTO ROHI and BLACK OZARK all receiving tightening and losing ground. LIFE WITH DEXTER ran outwards sharply into the bend. On the bend BLACK OZARK angled outwards checking RANGITOTO ROHI for a stride while soon after RUBYS GIRL shifted outwards checking DRIVE FIVE and LIFE WITH DEXTER.
Race 5 Roofing Solutions Stakes - C1 - 545 SRETOR was the last to jump from the inside. CROSSFIRE MAX and SHADOW WOLF appeared to be tightened in the early stages and dropped to the rear. NOGGIN checked off SRETOR into the first bend and lost ground. MISS OZARK dropped out in the concluding stages with a post race veterinary check revealing a spike wound with a five day stand down recommended.
Race 6 Brocklebanks Dry Cleaners Sprint - C1 - 310 HAZZAS LAD and ARCHIES TOKEN were the slowest from the traps. Into the bend JUNIOR WHAT crossed in front of ARCHIES TOKEN with ARCHIES TOKEN climbing on the back of JUNIOR WHAT. These dogs together with MISS OZARK lost their chances in this incident. Stewards requested the Veterinary Surgeon to inspect JUNIOR WHAT with this inspection revealing no abnormalities. HAZZAS LAD checked outwards off UPSALA JEWEL on the home turn and lost momentum.
Race 7 Keyosk Service Bar Sprint - C2 - 310 MOREPORT SHANNON and the favourite NO LANE were the last to jump. TOWER angled inwards at the end of the back straight tightening NO LANE and MOREPORT SHANNON who lost ground. NO LANE was then forced wide on the home bend when improving before running on well for fifth.
Race 8 Blue Bubble Dunedin Taxis Stakes - C1/2 - 545 CAWBOURNE HEIDI and WANDY CHLOE were a shade slow and then inconvenienced as BAKE BEAN BETTY shifted outwards soon after. Into the first bend OPAWA STYLE angled inwards coming together with SEA SPRAY DORIS and then was pushed wide as BAKE BEAN BETTY improved along her inside. OPAWA STYLE lost ground at this stage with RUN RILEY RUN also being shunted wide. In the back straight BAKE BEAN BETTY angled inwards checking CAWBOURNE HEIDI with OPAWA STYLE losing momentum in behind these runners.
Race 9 Dave Robbie Photographer Sprint - C1 - 310 GRANT A DOLLAR, SMASH AMEGO and PADDO SCORE were the slowest on jumping. LADY LUCY angled inwards into the bend as GRANT A DOLLAR attempted to get to the outside with both runners losing ground. SMASH AMEGO checked off the back of JOHNNYS BLUE on the home turn and lost momentum.
Race 10 Brian Bagley Driver Licensing Sprint - C2 - 310 WYNDHAM was badly tightened in the run down the back straight and fell with TIE MY TIE receiving a check in behind and losing ground. WYNDHAM regained his paws and completed the race with a post race veterinary check revealing sore hindquarters with a five day stand down recommended.
Race 11 Roofing Solutions Sprint - C3 - 310 WHERES JOHN CEE angled outwards into the bend checking HEZA SENSATION who lost ground. On the home turn ICEBERG RAPPER ran into a very slushy part of the track and lost momentum when in a handy position and dropped to the rear. At the lure OPAWA JACK slid under the rail with a post race veterinary check revealing a deep cut to his foreleg with a fourteen day stand down recommended.
Race 12 St Kilda Veterinary Centre Stakes - C3 - 545 PUKEKO FLYER was the last to jump. THRILLING JONAH angled outwards in the early stages coming together with MORNING WATCH. Into the bend PUKEKO FLYER ran outwards and contacted THRILLING JONAH who lost ground. PUKEKO FLYER continued to race wide for the remainder of the race.
Race 13 Homebush Hounds Sprint - C5 - 310 ANOTHER BREEZE ran inwards in the early stages checking OSCAR TUIVASA and SANTA SLOY and continued to angle inwards with GENISTA GARDENS and FOUR BY TWO receiving tightening and losing ground.
Race 14 Speedprint Shop Sprint - C5 - 310 The favourite ENABLE wanted to get to the outside in the back straight coming together with firstly JONNY JET and then FREDDIE BAXTER in the process. Into the bend NOBLE ENFORCER angled outwards when in tight quarters checking ENABLE and FREDDIE BAXTER with these runners dropping to the rear.
Race 15 Racing Again Tuesday 25th September Dash - C4 - 310 THRILLING SADIE ran inwards soon after the start tightening KNOCK EM, GENISTA TORNADO, MINIS FANTASY and FINGER POP. Into the bend MINIS FANTASY and GENISTA TORNADO came together when racing at the rear.
